A couple friends took me to lunch here after having a great first experience a couple weeks ago. For me, the front of house staff member was very nice, polite and professional, the club was clean and the venue itself overall presents really nicely.
The lack of stars in my review are due to the food and both kitchen and wait staff. We ordered our food together, went to get some drinks which were averagely priced. Shortly after, our $10 bowl of chips arrived (first pic) which was disappointing as you could tell it was just reheated and passed out quickly. We added our own seasoning from their salt and pepper sachets, it still wasn't that appealing. Also I find it slightly ridiculous to charge $2.50 for sauce to come with a bowl of chips.
For sauce we chose gravy since it was $2.50 and it was quite nice, smooth, tasty, flavourful but a bit watery. And unfortunately that gravy didn't come out at the same time as the chips.
Our food arrived half an hour later, it wasn't that busy considering lunch was winding down but wait time was not too bad in general, it was 4 dishes in total-
1x chicken burger
1x Wagyu burger
1x Nicoise salad
1x Mixed grill
They arrived almost at the same time and on first glance it looked good. They were great portion sized too.
The Wagyu was very good, priced well, chips were freshly cooked with burger and my friend thoroughly enjoyed it 7/10.
The chicken burger wasn't as good, considering it was from memory the same price as the wagyu. The burger patty was dry and bland tasting. The chips were also much better having been freshly cooked, he rated his dish 4.5/10.
The mixed grill, chicken was good, well cooked, tasty and a lot of it. The over easy eggs were so oily and greasy and the beef disappointing in taste and presentation. 5/10
The Nicoise salad was most disappointing. Upon first glance it seemed to be dressed very well with everything on the plate glistening. The beans, the lettuce, the tomatoes, the potato, the thin and overcooked pieces of crispy dried out salmon absolutely soaked in oil. You could taste nothing else but oil. I couldn't even taste a faint hint of the lemon dressing if it was even on there. So after trying half of a teaspoon size each of potato, lettuce, tomato, bean and salmon, the harsh taste of oil wouldn't go away with soda or beer. That meal wasn't salvageable. But the best part was when the waitress came to collect the empty wagyu burger plate and asked if she could take it, I also asked if she could take my salad too as I was finished. The salad appearing to anyone as untouched. And she didn't comment or think to ask if something was wrong with it, if it was good etc. She took the full plate of salad without a word and left.
So I went to the counter shortly after and told her my issue with the salad. She got the chef. Who was a very nice and polite gentleman, I explained my issue. It was clear that they weren't sure what to do, so I asked for a refund for the salad, as they could see I've hardly touched anything. 3 staff members later and I received my salad refund. The waitstaff/cashiers were all so polite but lacked either training or energy. When I returned to my seat, waiting for my other friends to finish eating, I witnessed a table of people leaving, one person accidentally dropping a large balled up napkin on the floor. And even though wait staff passed the napkin more than a dozen times, often empty handed and not distracted, still no one bothered to pick it up. And you look around and see empty dishes, glasses on other tables still waiting to be collected.
Otherwise, the mens bathroom was nice and clean, the bowling facilities outside looked well maintained and there is good parking available.
I personally don't think any of us will be returning again but if you're nearby, do try the wagyu burger or enjoy a nice, cold beverage.
PLEASE NOTE: All pictures of the food are original, no filters were used. The lighting above our table set off a glare.
