This is the classic RSL of 20 years ago. While many have renovated and upgraded their facilities this club remains true to the RSL of old.
That unfortunately does mean that the bistro food is old school and sub standard. My pie was lukewarm and the chips had that taste of frozen chips which you rarely come across these days.
Not a bad experience overall but I wouldn't go there for the food, enjoy a drink or two in the bar instead.

Dined as walk-in on a Friday night at 7pm.
Lived here 13yrs and had never tried this venue.
I was craving a good steak and we were not disappointed. I'm extremely fussy with steak. There wasn't a speck of fat to the whole piece of rump and was cooked 'well' as requested.
Great fresh salad & good side of chips.
10/0 for the meal.
Nice venue tastefully decorated. But greeted by lingering cigarette smoke from adjoining rooms as you make your way to the bistro.
Our toddler became a bit restless as understandably it's not the kind of venue they can wander around carefree.
Staff carrying plates or food, drinks etc it's too bigger trip hazard.
Will return. Perhaps for lunch instead.

Great little spot for a delicious lunch. Great menu and specials menu. I normally go on a Sunday and can't pass up the Roast Pork lunch, it's always delicious although a little disappointed last Sunday to not see any crackling on my plate. The in the restaurant and the bar areas are all friendly and welcoming. The club is relatively quiet and very relaxed and has a wonderful community feel.
There's is ample parking onsite which is a plus.

been here twice.. tried to give it another chance. steak is always overcooked. how is the steak in my picture rare???? told the wait staff to take it back to the kitchen and the chef told me that's exactly how it should be cooked??? and don't get me started on the "roast veggies" on the plate. they're clearly boiled, and they were revolting. mash was dry. average and disappointing experience.
Balgowlah RSL Memorial Club is open Sunday through Thursday from 10 AM to midnight. They are also open Friday and Saturday from 10 AM until 1 AM the following morning.
