Just had a shocking experience at the Cafe upstairs. Young teller did not listen to my order, even after me showing her the board where it was advertised. Got my money back and enjoyed a pizza from up the road. Never coming back!

The kids club is fanatic, the ladies watching the kids are great and friendly. So nice to have facilities for kids when you go to dinner. Dinner was also quite nice, but rather pricy!

However, steaks from the grill do not represent that money. $52 for the thinnest scotch fillet I've ever seen in my life !!!
And the paranoia about removing menus from the table was remarkable, four times in the 25 minute period

While on holiday with my family, I saw an advert for this venue and it looked so good, I immediately told my wife I wanted to go. So that night we walked into the main entrance of the RSL and were greeted with a friendly smile and supportive team, how guided us through the massive venue and into the dinning room. We were the. Welcomed by lovely staff and seated in the window seats with a magical view. The bar staff were super friendly and chatted to me while making our drinks. Our food was delivered in record time and cooked perfectly. The service definitely no let down with our empty glasses and plates being collected almost as soon as we finished.
Such a wonderful place for dinner in a nice relaxing atmosphere with a great view. It was so enjoyable watching the kids fishing off the pier also. Definitely will be back again when in the area.

I visited Ballina for work and had dinner here. The atmosphere, vibe, customer service, and most importantly, the food was exceptional. I had the baconator and apple crumble on day 1 and the godzilla burger with vanilla tart on day 2. It was amazing ??'??.

Very nice meals and large portions, especially the seafood risotto and parmegana, also my elderly mother had no chance of finishing her seniors seafood basket. The decor is very modern and the staff friendly. Plenty of parking and a very central location. Highly recommended.

I'm from Sydney but I always come to Ballina to visit family. I came for the first time to RSL on Christmas Eve and loved it. I returned on New Year's Eve and it was even better. Pleasant atmosphere, good music, competent service, and delicious and abundant food. Congratulations and Happy New Year to all the RSL team. EDITED - I was back at RSL and unfortunately the quality is not the same. Made me look for another place to get meals.

We were pretty tired from driving all day. Was getting late, first time in Ballina- seeing the RSL was a welcome sight. Friendly staff, we enjoyed our meal.
What impressed us most was the war time display. In this present climate, was a good reminder of how horrific war is, and what would Australia be like now if these people hadn't made the sacrifices they did.

Came for the free weekly Monday night trivia. What a great way to spend the evening! There were 6 rounds of all different topics and formats, including general knowledge, wheel of fortune and guess the movie!
The food was all the pub classics! I enjoyed a delicious parmi, while others in my family had tacos, lamb shank and pork belly. The sticky date pudding was super moist, though the butterscotch sauce was a tad bit grainy.

I really wanted to like this place as its in such a good location, but outside of the great history war history section the rest was average. Upstairs is pokie central and is doing its best to get you to play the pokies. Downstairs is the dining room and to be fair the service was pretty good and all staff were nice. You walk past the history display and there is a large dining room and bar. I ordered an RSL/Pub staple, the Chicken Schnitzel with gravy. It was one of the worst I've ever had and was likely frozen. It was similar to cheap ones you would buy from woollies and just soggie/falling apart. There was barely any salad with it and even then it only had onion, cucumber and lettuce. If they can't get the staples right then I would hesitate to try anything else which by the way was hugely over priced. Basic steaks for 40-50 at an rsl is just missing the market of the target audience.

Let's hope they improve and get back to what it should be about!

The service was good and meal quite tasty and well cooked. I found the menu missing a few favourites but what was there was very well cooked and presented. Sadly a few items were sold out. During our meal we were presented with an amazing view/sunset.

The Ballina RSL is located beside the Richmond River. Great location with river views. It is a very spacious venue offering dining upstairs which is Cafe style with bar facilities and the spacious Restaurant is downstairs with a large bar area. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. A special mention to Noah who went out of his way to ensure that we had everything we needed whilst we were there. They also have entertainment and we had the privilege of seeing a band play, "The Everly Brothers and Buddy Holly Tribute Show', which was absolutely outstanding! Recommend.

Took my father and husband out for a Father's Day dinner .
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Food unfortunately let it down. Overpriced,and took 48 minutes for the garlic bread to get to the table. The restaurant was not packed . Staff did apologise.
Just a little underwhelming.
Don't think we will be back

What an amazing collaboration between Lismore Symphony Orchestra, Soul'd and Ballina RSL. The live music was just tantalisingly tremendous. The decorations in the room were delightful.

Had a lovely lunch here for my mum's birthday. Service was friendly and very helpful. The view of the river was beautiful and relaxing.The food was amazing. I had the Parrmageddon it did not disappoint was absolutely delicious ??'?

Clean & tidy, staff friendly, but so over priced on there meal versus service it's crazy. Bistro meals average price $35 to $40 & you have to go up to order. Bar staff under staffed & cafe meals $20 to &30. Just know where near the mark on price. It made it hard to enjoy yourself. Will go elsewhere next time.

Wa there for International Women's Day. Function was well prepared, food fantastic, variety was good. Parking was plentiful, disability access good. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Lovely meal and service in the Boardwalk restaurant/cafe. The wait staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The people on the front desk are very nice too.
The security guard checking id's at the front entrance though was very rude and aggressive considering it was all families and older people entering the venue that was not very welcoming.

Nice environment, friendly staff, meals absolutely delicious. I had set menu 3 courses for $50. Entrée salad like main size, mains bigger than average, such generous. Deserts looks amazing, same as taste. Ballina RSL is the best RSL I have been to so far.

The location is great, right on the river. The staff are helpful, service with a smile. I find the food has improved over the years. But it is still only pub food with a high price. (Restaurant prices). They either need to improve the food or drop the prices. They have pokie machines & keno for those that like to gamble. Its a lovely spacious club. Its right in the middle of town. Very handy if staying in Ballina.

Blown away by the quality of the food here. Ordered Duck Confit, Pork Belly, Death By chocolate, and the cream brulee. All were what I'd expect to see in a fine dining restaurant, had to double check where I was. Fantastic food, staff were great also. I don't understand how people are complaining about the food here, everything that went past to other people looked to die for. 12/10

Food just bearable. Had lunch there today, seafood basket overcooked. Calamari chewy, fish & prawns no flavour as was overcooked too. Too rich a price to pay to take a chance on getting a good meal. Shame because I know there is a great chef working there. Not the owner chef either !

Lovely RSL. Kids enjoyed their meals. Steak was great. The reason I give 4 stars is because they use powdered mash potato (DEB) with their meals (is it that hard to peel and mash potato?) and their drinks are expensive.
Other than that it's nice.

Wrote that review over a month ago. Have since returned twice for a steak and was great the next time but the following occasion the menu had changed and unfortunately it was over cooked, a different standard of steak and sides and taste like all the chefs went home and the kitchen hand took over. Why do places do this kind of thing

So not what it used to be ???'???'???' yes I understand that Covid brings enormous stress to venues but the young staff were really rude, the menu was weird, struggled to find something appealing, the food was poor.

There was one senior staff member who did much to rectify, but that was overshadowed by male staff members being aggressive and rude. Not recommended for people with disabilities, which is surprising to me because they used to be fantastic.

Great place to visit The Ballina RSL has fond memories for us because it was the first place we visited when on our honeymoon WayBack in 1974. We have revisited a number of times since then. The club has obviously changed a lot but still a great restaurant

Went for lunch at the RSL today where we played top dollar for two steak meals. Both the steaks were overcooked, salad I got with mine was miserable with a tiny dollop of mayonnaise and the chips were undercooked. At $34 and $40 respectively I wouldve expected much better. In actual fact there are some pubs locally that will sell you a $15 steak which is way superior. We will never be dining there again.
