Tonight, during a visit to our local club with my dad, we encountered a disappointing situation at the bar. Both of us, being long-standing members of the club, had initially forgotten to order a couple of drinks during our round. Upon realizing our mistake, we returned to the bar to purchase the missing drinks. After paying in cash, my dad remembered he had a $5 drink voucher - a members' perk we received upon signing in. Excited to make use of this benefit, I mentioned the voucher to the bar staff before receiving my change, hoping to apply it to our purchase. Unexpectedly, the bartender refused to accept the voucher since I had already paid. Even when I suggested using the voucher in lieu of my pending change, he remained inflexible. In a gesture to emphasize that our concern wasn't about the money but rather about making the most of the membership benefits provided by the club, I told him to keep the change. Regrettably, the club hapily retained my $4 change without honoring the $5 voucher. While I generally appreciate the ambiance and services at the club, this particular incident left a sour taste. The refusal to accommodate a simple request, especially when the transaction had not been fully completed, seemed unnecessarily rigid. It's disheartening when staff, especially newer members like the young barman involved, do not seem empowered or willing to ensure members can fully enjoy their benefits. Such experiences can tarnish the overall positive image of a club that we frequent and support.?
