The food in the bistro has gone downhill massively, as can been seen by other recent reviews.
Ordered the surf & turf and left 80% of it as the steaks are clearly frozen, rubbery and tasteless!
The calamari that came with it was also tasteless, even the chips were terrible.
You're in trouble when the garlic bread is the highlight of the dinner.

We used to go to Club Menai every week with the family but stopped going because the food is always off. The club itself is great. Wish they would get a good kitchen again. Tried again last night when I took the family for Elvis Show. Very disappointed again. Had to wait ages for the food, then 3 out of 5 meals were bad. My wife's fish tacos were cold (must have just been left sitting there), the 2 special medium rare eye fillets were both well done and not even eye fillet but seemed like rump, very tough and chewy plus each very small pieces and chips all burnt up. Always embarrassed to take people there for dinner. Every time there is something bad. But club itself is great and service is always good

Been coming to the club on and off for years, however for the past few years food has been a little hit and miss, but nothing to complain about as the atmosphere and service in the club is always great. Tonight the schnitzel dish I was served was the worst dish I've had in any establishment in years. Paid $6 for a creamy garlic sauce and prawns topping and it missed the schnitzel by a few cm with the prawns being over cooked and sauce very bland, served onto top of a mound of chips that were stale and lukewarm, no salad or vegetables were present, and the chicken had separated from the schnitzel coating, also the mushroom sauce was a gravy. For $31 I'd expect a lot more care to be taken with the food, on a positive note the garlic bread and other dishes ordered were good!

Good food but maybe need to rethink the conditions on the birthday vouchers. I orders 2x tapas and sharing dishes that were $21 each and 1 X main meal dish that was $20 and couldn't use my voucher because I didn't order 2 X main meals, even thought the main was cheaper than the share plates.
Maybe just say minimum order $40

Arrived here after having dinner at Rocksalt Menai - As we walked in, the security at the door(guy called Jony) asked how much we had had to drink. I told him that us ladies had had 1 bottle of wine between us during dinner. He responded "oh no - you have had a bottle of wine, you cannot come in". I was really taken aback and told him that "I" did not have bottle of wine - my friend and I had had it over a 3hr dinner at Rocksalt next door. He said ,"no - we have decided that you and your friend cannot come in - if you want, speak to our manager." At this point I was having a bit of a laugh as I thought he was actually just joking with us. My friend realised that he was in fact serious - she told him that it didn't matter, we were just popping in for a quick coffee - so we would just call our Uber and wait in the lobby(out of the rain) while it arrived. I advised Jony that my friend and I were ladies in our late 40s and 50, and not at all "intoxicated"... and happy to do a breathalyser test. The response was a "no, we have decided - this is my job and this is what I'm paid to decide".
The guy that was "supposedly" the manager, was 2 mtre behind them. The security guy Jony whispered to the manager and told him that , "these girls are drunk and arguing, we can't let them in"(which we overheard). The manager then walked to us and told us that he was told that we were "argumentative" and so couldn't go in(we had not even asked to speak to the manager as we had already decided that we were leaving, and called our ride). This whole encounter occurred over a 3 minute period.

This review is just for the general public to know - this club is discriminative towards anyone arriving after 10pm.... they will find a reason(however absurd) to not let you in. Please don't look happy if you arrive here later at night - they will irrationally assume and inform you that you are intoxicated - If you utter a single sentence to contradict their statement, then you are being "argumentative". We were walking in just to have a coffee after a lovely dinner out, as this was one of the venues close to our restaurant, which was still open. Visiting this club was a mistake - a terrible end to an otherwise amazing ladies night out.

@Club Menai Management - you should take a serious look at who you hire to represent yourself as it significantly impacts the experience that patrons have. This security guard(Jony) came across like he is just on a power trip and has been put in a position where he can make decisions without needing to provide any justification. @Club Menai Management - Absolutely happy for you to assess the footage for tonight (5/4/24 approx 1045pm). This review is being written 30mins after leaving your venue - how intoxicated does anyone sound? As I mentioned above - my friend and I are ladies in our late 40s & 50. We were not drunk, disorderly, or coming in for a wild drinking session - we were walking in for a final coffee and maybe a dessert before heading home. But this experience really put a sour taste in our mouth. You should be ashamed of yourselves!

Great food, great coffee. Lovely atmosphere to sit and chat. Visiting from Mid North Coast for a friend's birthday ?. Club is very accommodating and staff helpful and friendly. We had a lovely time. Thank you

All the food looked and tasted and presented well, quite generous serves.

Outstanding food and even better service! The family and I had lunch here for father's day and even under massive amounts of pressure from the volume of people the kitchen banded together and provided fantastic service and customer service skills and the food was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. Hats off to you guys, as a business owner I appreciate seeing a well managed team with a great work force

Club is a great meeting place, good facilities, friendly staff. had not been there since Covid and re-joined membership on last visit, unbelievable at the moment $2.20 for 5 years. If looking for a good meeting place in the shire I recommend Club Menei

We frequently dine at the terrace bisto with members and friends. We love coming here. The food is always on point and is value for money. We have never had bad service and always find the staff friendly and polite.
Definitely worth a visit!

Bistro food as you would expect. Though costs are higher than other Clubs.
Service is very good, though it was on a quite Monday night.

Really delicious toasted sandwich on Turkish bread (from memory). Good seating, lots of space. Free and ample parking. A great place to meet up with friends to catch up.

Friendly staff, but the bistro leaves a lot to be desired. 4/4 times I've ordered a rare steak and it's come out medium well. Perhaps the chef should reconsider their career if they can't get a simple steak right.

This was our family's go to place to celebrate special occasions. Last night, my husband and I went for dinner and drinks. I ordered cocktail in jug to share. The jug was full of ice and there was hardly any liquid when I complained, the manager came and said the drink was meant to be slushy but it was full of big crushed ice that will take a while to melt to be drinkable. He offered to make another but with half a jug of ice and drink. He said "enjoy" as he left the drink on our table.

Pleasant and spacious bistro that includes an outdoor eating area as well as a cosy fireplace inside. I had the "seafood plate for one". At $37 in February 2023 it was excellent value and very fresh and tasty.

Don't very often go to the bistro for dinner because usually the food is disappointing.
Again tonight we ordered four meals only to be given three. We showed that we had ordered four and they just slapped the food onto a plate, no salad, no cutlery. Salmon very ordinary and spicy sauce not soft and lovely, felt like it was out of a bottle. You pay top dollar prices and still are given a buzzer and have to collect from the counter. Not again!

me and my friend visiting from overseas walked in and they turned us away because we weren't in the 5km radius but then we were refused the option to become members. terrible customer service in our opinions.

New Years Eve disappointment
We booked a party of 4 based on the advertised band The High Rollers as seen in the club website and screen in foyer Their website featured a totally different band and musicians and had excellent reviews
It appears the band we saw was a substitute and whilst they did their best it was not what we paid for
The food in the past had been excellent but last night was again a disappointment
The steak dish was ok but the chicken dish was laced with way too much garlic and there was no alternative offered and we were told to swap if we didn't like it ! The dessert served was again good (cheesecake and ice cream) BUT the second was a cheese plate !! !! Since when is a cheese plate considered as a dessert ???!
Coffee machine was a mechanical
nightmare and after the kitchen staff eventually refilled it the coffee came out cold Instant coffee might have been easier !!! We noticed that many people had left before midnight with most of the people we spoke to said this was not the entertainment they expected and overall a VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE (Nothing like previous years )Although the staff did their best under the circumstances

UNBELIEVABLE... I used to go there over 20 odd years ago. I have come down from Tweed Heads and was just driving around and I thought I would go over there . What a place absolutely fantastic. I will be back.

Melbourne cup day the club put on a lovely day, food was great. One thing that was wrong was putting 8 people on a 6 seater table, we were so cramped together, especially when there was spare tables at the back of the room

Food was lovely. Facility clean, staff friendly. Unfortunately, at the memorial, the music didn't work. Suggestion.... take your own cables for music, as theirs didn't work.

1 part is mine to tell the other is my best friend who organised what we now call,
""The Great Birthday DEBACLE "" which is about passing the buck ,telling lies and covering up said lies told by the staff .
And because of lies told my child ( 4yrs)
Ended up sitting on the floor to eat his meal.

The food at the terrace restaurant is bland cold if its not raw uncooked and if it happens to be cooked it's over cooked burnt cremated.
Please do not waste your money, or your time,
Now I can honestly say I haven't been there in over 4 yrs, but was once a frequent diner.

The service now is deplorable and the food was , well let's just say if I was a starving hungry stray alley cat I wouldn't touch it with a 40ft barge pole ( I would NOT eat it . )
Please heed my warning, and avoid, avoid so you don't have the same disappointment we had,
Also the food is so terrible that a young lady hurled hers all over the floor, blew chunks heaved her Lil heart out
And the restaurant staff just looked on with blank faces instead of cleaning up the vomit, had to tell the front desk
concierge club management to get them to pull there fingers out and clean up the bio hazard !

I only go to be social, food is terrible and no point complaining. I love my steak, but not sure where their butcher is but if that never changes how its cooked never will, always tough, gristly, overpriced. I now dont eat there, and commonly just listen to others at the table agree with me and still keep coming back. the second star was generous.

Been a member of this club since I was 18. Now the CEO has decided to segregate so therefore, I no longer can go or even choose to go to a club that does this....As a member I feel treated unfairly and will not be renewing my membership ever again!! Even 1 star is too much to give as part of a review ?

According to the CEO of the club, they have concluded that only the fully-vaccinated are allowed in the club for the "safety" of their members and staff. However the world health organisation has also released a statement explaining how the fully-vaccinated are the ones carrying omicron. This is beyond discrimination and segregation, people have to get their heads out of the sand. Don't support them.

Only reason to go there is because there's not much choice around the area. Food can be hit and miss. They water down their craft beer to the point that it's undrinkable! Boring atmosphere.

Had a family dinner to celebrate the end of lockdown. I had the ribs, they were very tender and tasty. The sweet potato fries were also very good. If you're not a member it's definitely worth joining, only $2 and then you get great discounts. The service was great and staff were very polite.

Really nice food - such a wide range and every meal is thoughtfully put together. We got a few different meals between the 6 of us and none of them disappointed! The staff were also helpful and there was lots of nice places to sit. Definitely recommend it!

Lovely venue with good food (a little pricey sometimes). Bar has great cocktails and a nice atmosphere. Live music on sunday nights at the moment which really added to the evening.

Lovely dinner for my Mums 70th birthday. Joanne the Manager was very helpful. Mum enjoyed her vol au vent and the kids loved the popcorn chicken. We'll be back

The food has gone downhill. I always enjoyed coming here for dinner but my last 3 visits have been very average. Staff are nice and the venue is great but your food is very disappointing compared to what it used to be.

Very disappointed in quality of meal ordered. Seafood Risotto was served very very lukewarm (wifes Chicken Schnitzel was very hot).When taken back to the kitchen to request to be reheated, was advised by staff person for me to feel the temperature of the plate and therefore the meal was hot enough.I again asked for the meal to be reheated and the staff person did arrange accordingly. The end result was a meal that was just edible in parts. Rice was hot but not the other ingredients.

Attended the club last Wednesday night with my family to have a nice dinnerordered some garlic pizzas as entre. paid $30 and received 2 plates of garlic BREADwent to order main meals for 4 people, due to one of my family members not finishing work until late, the main meal order was order right on 8:30was told by the staff in the bistro that it was too late the kitchen was closed when it was quite obvious they were still cooking and preparing meals which had been ordered prior to 8:30disgusting customer service to long time members of the club. will not be renewing or returning to the venueonly thing good about the place is the pokies

A great local Club. A good bistro. Great advantages for members. Something for everybody including kids.

Big and friendly place with great food, filled with pokies but that is normal. There is an awesome play centre and laser tag attached so very kid friendly. Hot tip alwys become a member even if you go once you get large discounts so the first meal and drink discount will cover the membership cost.

Always lovely food at the Bistro whether for lunch or dinner. Many options from fancy salads & food bowls, burgers, steaks & seafood meals. Discounts for club members as well. Private rooms available as well.
