Food at Bumper's Bistro fantastic

Enjoyed our visit here. Had a lovely big lunchwhich was very tasty. Big meals area and a bar area.

do not even know where to start with my comments.
When turning up to the bowls club on Thursday (Anzac day) I was advised that I had been denied access to the club. When questioning this, the older man behind the desk gave no details but just kept repeating that I was not welcome.
After my friend (ex cop) approached him advised that he has to provide a reason as it was discrimination, he advised that I was aggressive to staff but would not assist any further. This of course came as a huge shock as I was there the day prior, did not have my phone/wallet so did not purchase drinks.. though went to the bar to help my friend on arrival carry two glasses as she bought a bottle of rose. At most i would usually have two glasses of wine max at any time as I am not a big drinker.
I then spent the next hour + playing "what's the time mr wolf" with my niece, nephew and friends 1 yr old on the grass so their parents could play pool.
I was told that I was identified by a worker at the bar.. odd as I didn't buy anything and was on the lawn the rest of the time. I asked them to check their cctv as apparently this is what they used to ID me and they would see they had made an error as I was with the kids.
After being upset and leaving as it was embarrassing with all my friends passing me and seeing me cry, My sister then got more info from them and admitted that she had a run in with the rude girl (Tara?) who the day prior was annoyed at my sister for wanting a bottle of wine, not the glass of wine she poured incorrectly (same wine). The man at the sign in also smiled and nodded when we asked if they had received complaints on before.
The comment they believed was me was in fact not me and was someone else who left at the same time as me, "dragon" was the comment. I was with my 4 year old niece when I exited and told her to come to me as she didn't have shoes on which i knew was a rule.
The staff member in question apparently wasn't working at the time, though was able to ID me within 2 mins, was also known by my group of 50+ as being extremely rude over the last two days we visited (at different times). This is a Christian group of friends also.
Should I have been given a warning for my "aggressive behaviors" they would have realized it was not me. Unfortunately I was not ever provided this which is even more proof they had the wrong person.
Honestly it's just very disappointing to be put in a position like this without first receiving a warning (this would confirm they had the wrong person), no sound on their cctv to confirm any discussions, their own staff member confirming Tara? had received complaints prior, my sister confirming with the manager that the person who had the issue was not me and could name them including issues she had with the same staff member. Unfortunately with proof or by providing a warning at the time of the incident, this issue could have been resolved correctly.

We no longer support the Hat Head Bowling Club due to our last encounter. Please do yourselves a favour and eat at the Gladstone pub. Food is great and it's only a 10-15 minute drive away! Everyone of us enjoyed our meal there ??'??

Great Little Club , on Friday Saturday you must get there early for Lunch or Dinner .Great pub food large portions reasonable prices ?

Dined here tonight with a group of friends. Staff were very obliging & with a smile. Can't fault the food or the service.

Nice place, we didn't know it was there but are very happy we went, the food was lovely, good spot and very nice staff, will be going again.

Nice club beers are cold. Unfortunately we ate at the restaurant waited 1/2 hour only to find out no roast pork left, then had to wait another 1/2 for my salmon & vegetables. Went up again ended up standing there way while all these other meals came out that had ordered after us eventually I got my salmon with salad not what I ordered so they gave me vegetables on the side, meanwhile the other meal was sitting on counter I asked if still hot they said yes, my husband told me as he started eating it was cold. Not impressed good money paid for poor service & poor quality.

Great meal here of crumbed lamb chops, mash veg and gravy. The special ribs/wings combo was a generous meal, tasty sauce and crunchy chips. Will be back. ??'?

Great club meal. The club classics done well. Irony is not much other choice available but you won't be disappointed. Very reasonably priced and a friendly atmosphere filled with locals.

So disappointing we have eaten here previously and it has been good. When they are busy you can have a bit of await but not and 1 hr 20 minutes. I checked twice on my last check they said 10 minutes and that's fine. 10 minutes goes and I watch whole lot of people who ordered long after us get their meal. Ok I checked again. The chef tells me he did ours five orders ago. The women tell me on the large table. Sorry no it's just 2 of us! Then she preceded to tell me how busy they have been for the last 4 days. Not even a sorry for delay. Which the manager did when I raised it with her.

Really nice venue and good taps, only problem was the Bristo staff member that served me. He was extremely rude and arrogant to myself and a dear friend. Unfortunately we were very distraught after this encounter and are worried to go back.

Second visit to the club and it's gone down hill over a few months .
Ordered our meals and the locals get served well before any number system .
People who ordered well before us were upset and we had to wait extra time for the Bros (locals ) who got served before we did.
Not a good look for a holiday hotspot.

We had a wonderful lunch here. Exceptional pub food. Everything was perfectly cooked and lots of extra touches. Delicious

Have dined here for the last 10 years and food has been great until this visit. We booked for the Carvery a week before arriving and carvery was "unavailable". There were very few other meals available. Most of us ordered the schnitty and 6 out of 13 of our group got varying degrees of food poisoning. So disappointing!! Bring in new caterer's please!!!

After reading the reviews was hesitant but the food was great. The honey chicken was the best Ive had. Didnt have much to do with the rest of the club but the mens urinal stank.

Meals weren't to bad could have used a bit more sauce on the Chinese meals - service was very good and prices reasonable

The staff got our order wrong, was the worst "fried rice " I have ever tried to eat . Will not eat there again!!

NO SANITISER!!!
Last week we signed in at the bowling club to dine at the restaurant, we commented if there was and sanitiser as every single person had to place their license and sign in on the touch screen. Was told they were not required to supply it.
We went again today, supplied with our own, they still had none and when asked at reception was told I could ask at the bar for some, Not good enough, Covid and flu are still rampant with grey nomads travelling and now school holidays. It is an inexpensive and simple way to stop the spread of germs. Management needs to wake up. ?

As we were going out for dinner the following night at a nice restaurant in Gladstone we decided to book (yes BOOK) at the local bowlo for dinner. What a mistake.

Arrived and meat raffle on, packed.

Got a drink, bantered with the locals and perused the "Asian" menu with great anticipation of a gourmet feast (well, alright, within reason). Went to the counter and they said it would be 2 hours. Serious?!

So, having been through all chef ranks in my younger years (30 years ago) at admittedly fine dining restaurants and hotels in the UK, not food troughs with deep fat dryers, I know exactly the intricacies of catering by pax, which really isn't difficult if you've got bookings, plus walk ins. Plus of course the demographics of the local trade and event draw which they obviously prioritised. So, to be told 2 hrs wait when they are no doubt catering for takeaways and walk ins, when we've booked is, well, let's say not exactly optimal. Especially when we have two young girls who are hungry.

And we even called to say we'd be 30 minutes late. Did we get a hint to say that there would be delays? Nope.

Not acceptable. Not even close. We had to come back to a cheese and egg roll at the cabin. Luckily, looking at the plates of slop as we walked out, we dodged a bullet. Looked awful.

Far out, raise your game. Really not difficult. Ripe for take over.

Zero options for vegetarians on the menu except for entrees. Get with the times

Nice little bowling club, be warned no mobile reception. No eftpos .. which is a pain.

Bistro was the only downfall, can tell it's batch made. Otherwise service for casual bowls was more than adequate and drinks were cheap to go with this.

A great days bowls! Lunch good, service friendly and obliging, will be back!

Prices are good and even gave us a couple heaters, even won a chocolate.

Chinese cafe has delicious $13 meals for lunch..Chilli garlic beef and Satay Chicken was so yummy The chicken and veggies pretty delish also.

Great little bowls club. Friendly staff, place was clean and good prices for drinks. We went there for dinner on Easter Friday for the seafood raffles and the place was very busy. Food took a little too long to come out. Recommend that you book in prior if you are eating.
Portions for food were big, more chips than you could eat, but still a decent basic meal.

Whilst the building is a bit run down, the food and service make up for it.

Some staff great, others Clueless.. poor bar skill staff, more interested in what's on the TV rather than serve. Club upkeep average.
The food on this and previous few nights was very good. Food portions great and very well priced. It is what it is.

Friendly staff, great beer, and the food in the restaurant was excellent, would definitely recommend.

On the positive side, enjoyed the whiting fillets. Would have liked chips to be less soggy and the prosciutto on the grilled chicken was grey.Helpful and friendly staff, thank you.

This is not a family friendly club. Don't waist your money

The staff are lovely. But unfortunately they can't keep up with the flood of people. Meals arrived at different times without the gravy. Had to wait until that was brought over. Over priced for small meals. Not alot of options on the board. No BBQ sauce as they don't stock it overall I wouldn't recommend it and won't be going back

What a joke, called the place 12 times, no answer, jumped in the car and went to the club, @30 people, asked the bar bloke about meals and why the phone doesnt get answered, was told they were busy, hello south west rocks!! Abysmal service, well in actual fact no service

We visited the Hat Head Bowling Club on a Saturday night for their bistro. Food was good. The impression we were given was that you had to pre-book your table. Luckily for us, we were slotted in to a pre-reserved table. The bar area has Keno and TAB facilities. Plenty of seats and tables at this venue. Several TV screens here to watch sports. The outdoor seating area has shelter. Plenty of parking nearby. Staff are helpful. A very relaxing environment.
