Appalling! Don't waste your money. The food is terrible. Don't attempt risotto unless you want slop! When they give you the wrong meal and you question them they argue with you. Once they finally release they are wrong they then swear about it to each other "There's the F..king risotto that family ordered!" not realizing we can overhear!

We came for dinner last night (family of 5) and the disappointment I felt then and this morning definitely hit a nerve!
We called prior to see if they had a kids playground and were told yes.
On arrival the front staff were friendly and welcoming.
We were happy with options on the menu. We ordered 300g rump with gravy, 2x boss burger, seafood basket and snitzel, all served with chips and salad.
It was a little more expensive then other places similar that we have dined (maybe extra $20- $25).
Food took maybe 25 minutes which was satisfying - in saying that we were the only ones there to eat when we ordered.
The boss burger patties (2xAngus patties, were what was stated on the menu) were dry and burnt and was more like plain old beef mince patties, the bacon was like rubber and the brioche bun was also burnt on the outside.
The seafood was well over cooked.
The rump was definitely not 300g, I'm not joking it was not much thicker then a sandwich steak, it was cooked how we asked -- well done, but I'm not really sure if it could have been cooked any other way. The gravy was a chunky, kind of sticky consistency.
The Snitzel was for our son who always orders the same everywhere we go and his first mouth full he said he didn't like it and it tasted weird. He has NEVER done that! Also we asked for bbq sauce and they gave us little squeeze sauce you get for a pie or sausage roll at the school canteen.
As I said before these meals all had chips and salad - A whole 8 maybe 10 chips on every plate!
We hardly ate our food so I thought I would ask for a container to take home and see if our dog would eat the meats left. I was told they don't do that so I ask if I could have a plastic bag or rubbish bag instead because i was going to give it to my dog because maybe she would eat it, (or maybe not!) was told it was against policy.
We arrived just before 8pm and by the time our food got to us the kitchen staff were already packing up for the night so we didn't bother saying anything to staff, although if we were asked how the food was we definitely would have been honest and gave our opinion.
$120 on food and not one of us enjoyed any part that was consumed.
$30 on drinks. (the bar staff were also very friendly and catering)
The kids checked out the said 'kids playground' and it was 4 small monitor screens with playstations and a few toys suitable for 3year olds. We did call and specifically asked because our kids like to play when we go out, so that was also disappointing.
We went home and by midnight our daughter who did eat the prawn cocktails and also nibbled on the other seafood from the seafood basket was up for a few hours unwell and vomiting.
I remember a gentleman was also served the seafood basket not long after us, i hope he didnt get sick. It would be interesting to know if he had though. It would have been the last order before the kitchen closed.

Over all our experience was a disappointing disaster! Not to mention we were out for my birthday dinner.
1 star given, half star for the bar staff and half star for reception.

Great food. Great atmosphere. The only criticism is they don't do doggy bags. Please take The Builders Club as an example. They have take away containers inside their bistro. Otherwise Collies is a club I've been going to since my 20s

Small sized Leagues Club... But nicely renovated with an authentic, old world style bar and lush, green walled enclosed courtyard.

They do great daily Lunch Specials for only $8.90 Members / $9.90 Non-members, different deal each day... Grilled Steak & Chips, Lasagna, Chicken Schnitzel, Half Chicken & Chips, Fish & Chips, and everyday Roast Pork & Veg.

They also offer 6 months FREE Membership... So great deals all round! 😉🍻'

Absolutely disgusted an applauded at the behaviour of this club after 3 drinks n drinking water n minding my own business told to leave as I was with my partner who was an aboriginal partner as myself disgusting was watched from the time had first walked in. When order second water told to leave when order water as I'm a driver... don't ever use this place especially if your are an aboriginal person after all no one was drunk and minding there business

I eat out a fair bit, and in all honesty, this was the worst meal that I have had in years. The schnitzel was hard as a rock, and the chips were burnt to a crisp. For 22 dollars, one expects a fairly decent schnitzel meal. You can get 10 times better schnitzel at many of the pubs in the Illawarra, and it is no wonder the place was empty. We won't be going back there in a hurry.

This Revamped club in the city has a long history & is popular. The Bistro has Tasty food with big servings. Their Veal Oscar (veal snitzel topped with asparagus, prawns, bernaise sauce & cheese) is Amazing. Disappointing the Bistro will not do Takeaway meals & even worse your not permitted to take leftover food away. The meat raffles are good. Ham Raffles around Christmas time. They have a nice Cafe too that has good coffee, cakes, sandwiches, wraps & milkshakes. Plenty of poker machines with a separate smokers area. A great children's play area with seating for adults. Keno. The Staff are polite & very helpful.

Great place to hang with friends. Sometimes get treated like cattle or garbage but to be expected with such a large corporation.

Diggers club across the road a much better option. Lunchtime manager 26/02/23 was rude, and seems to think it OK to act intimidating toward customers. A meal was missed on our order, and could only get a takeaway container if we payed for a pizza. Manager then ordered staff to tell us to be more discreet when leaving with our meals which we packed into takeaway containers we provided ourselves.

Went for dinner ordered two medium rare scotch fillet steaks with vegetables (as they had no rumps left and we seemed to be the only ones eating everyone else was having fun with the raffles). The steaks were tough, no flavor, the peas, carrots and cauliflower were dried out and mushroom sauces was runny. The only thing that was nice was the baked potatoes. My hubby was starving and he ate his, I ate 1/3 and asked for a doggy bag for the rest to take home for my dog. The meals was $38.00 each. The waiter told
me they couldn't do that. Even though I seen someone get takeaway pizza. Now I know why no one was eating and only doing the raffles.

I've never been to a leagues club before, so I'm not sure what is normal, but it seems to be somewhere for older people to enjoy. The food was ok, and the staff friendly, but it lacked an atmosphere.

I prefer the atmosphere and food at this colliegans more than the others, second would be figtree, then balgownie and port kembla, wollongong would come last as it doesn't have the same ambience as the others.

It was a Monday night about 745pm, we ordered the chicken Snitzel Oscar , it came out, the veggies were over cooked, the snitzel was nearly black, I went to get a beer at the bar and there was no one there I had to go to the service desk to get someone to pour me a beer. I'll go to diggers next time across the road.

Just ate here and was served raw fish staff was rude and really didn't care one bit even asking me if I wanted another one. I've eaten at many of there restaurants and will now not return to any of them. I wouldn't recommend them at all.

**New wait staffs always on training, we play slots, spending a lot...when asking for any hot drinks they ask to check membership card, very annoying to a 10 years members.
***Food on special some times ok...mostly low quality...

Bistro staff had no idea of allergen advice. Items what were purported to be gluten free were actually not. Information about where to pick up kids meal is cream on docket was incorrect. Staff blamed not having the head chef on as why they didn't know ingredients. Very disappointing for such a large organisation within the Illawarra. If you have allergies, maybe try a different venue.

No atmosphere since some renovations were done. The bistro food was ok, but when we asked for a small meal or a child's meal for an elderly man who eats next to nothing, you would have thought we had asked for the world. Badly and rudely handled. Sadly, all memorabilia and history of Illawarra Rugby League that was on display showcasing the history of the second oldest Leagues club in Australia has been removed and taken away. Very poor form.
