We came for dinner last night (family of 5) and the disappointment I felt then and this morning definitely hit a nerve!
We called prior to see if they had a kids playground and were told yes.
On arrival the front staff were friendly and welcoming.
We were happy with options on the menu. We ordered 300g rump with gravy, 2x boss burger, seafood basket and snitzel, all served with chips and salad.
It was a little more expensive then other places similar that we have dined (maybe extra $20- $25).
Food took maybe 25 minutes which was satisfying - in saying that we were the only ones there to eat when we ordered.
The boss burger patties (2xAngus patties, were what was stated on the menu) were dry and burnt and was more like plain old beef mince patties, the bacon was like rubber and the brioche bun was also burnt on the outside.
The seafood was well over cooked.
The rump was definitely not 300g, I'm not joking it was not much thicker then a sandwich steak, it was cooked how we asked -- well done, but I'm not really sure if it could have been cooked any other way. The gravy was a chunky, kind of sticky consistency.
The Snitzel was for our son who always orders the same everywhere we go and his first mouth full he said he didn't like it and it tasted weird. He has NEVER done that! Also we asked for bbq sauce and they gave us little squeeze sauce you get for a pie or sausage roll at the school canteen.
As I said before these meals all had chips and salad - A whole 8 maybe 10 chips on every plate!
We hardly ate our food so I thought I would ask for a container to take home and see if our dog would eat the meats left. I was told they don't do that so I ask if I could have a plastic bag or rubbish bag instead because i was going to give it to my dog because maybe she would eat it, (or maybe not!) was told it was against policy.
We arrived just before 8pm and by the time our food got to us the kitchen staff were already packing up for the night so we didn't bother saying anything to staff, although if we were asked how the food was we definitely would have been honest and gave our opinion.
$120 on food and not one of us enjoyed any part that was consumed.
$30 on drinks. (the bar staff were also very friendly and catering)
The kids checked out the said 'kids playground' and it was 4 small monitor screens with playstations and a few toys suitable for 3year olds. We did call and specifically asked because our kids like to play when we go out, so that was also disappointing.
We went home and by midnight our daughter who did eat the prawn cocktails and also nibbled on the other seafood from the seafood basket was up for a few hours unwell and vomiting.
I remember a gentleman was also served the seafood basket not long after us, i hope he didnt get sick. It would be interesting to know if he had though. It would have been the last order before the kitchen closed.
Over all our experience was a disappointing disaster! Not to mention we were out for my birthday dinner.
1 star given, half star for the bar staff and half star for reception.
