It's ok for a quick bite to eat of a night but this place is nowhere near as popular as it was before its fairly lengthy period of lockdown closure last year, and I can see why....
The Asian bistro seems to be under new management and the number of dishes available on the menu appears to have been slashed by at least half, leaving for the most part the extremely bland dishes as the main choices - the stir-fried chicken and vegetables I had recently tasted of almost nothing at all and, to be frank, were just a stodgy, slimy mess reminiscent of a large portion of airplane food. It wouldn't be so bad if when I asked for some chopped chilli to pep things up a bit they had given me more than 4 tiny, razor thin slices of a small birds-eye chilli!
The main bistro is still ok - although again, the menu has had a major haircut. But the food is still ok. Although, they could seriously do with MORE vegetables on their roast meals - FAO chefs - TWO tiny miniature roasted chat potatoes on a large roast dinner is NOT enough.
A quick look at the menu on the wall behind the cafe section also tells a sorry story - at least 75 % of the previously listed items have been taped over and are now unavailable. It's the perfect metaphor for Magpies, unfortunately.
I used to come here almost every week. I'm not so keen anymore - and I'm probably not the only one.
