Fin and scales restaurant is great place to take kids too also.

The rib and wing share platter is a great option for 2 people at $60, and the cheesy garlic bread was killer, it was a nice quiet little restaurant.

I have previously been to the Fin and Scales Bistro and wasnt a fan. This time, we went back twice. Food was absolutely beautiful. Not sure if there are new chefs or what but will be back. Everything we had, barramundi, calamari, roast lamb, sausages and mash, oysters and scallops with avocado salsa. Definitely worth a try. Great view too. Lots of Hunter Valley wines too.

The food was fresh, hot and excellent in quality and size.

Second time going to Finns, in the past month, food was wonderful, scallops were cooked to perfection not to much avo on the scallops this time, they were perfect.
Chicken burger was the best we have had in the bay, juicy & succulent grilled chicken breast with great flavours, not deep fried schnitzel, which seems to be standard these days which is appreciated, the cheese sauce which over flowed from the burger was great with the chips.
All round a great meal with a great view.

I have had meals here with family and friends in the past and have enjoyed them all . My recent visit just yesterday with my father was excellent , we had the lamb cutlets with fresh vegetables and enjoyed it very very much . The meal came with three very nice lamb cutlets that were crumbed perfectly . We will be back for sure , thank you.

Nice club, big club. Has it all, Gaming lounge and Sports bar, Bistro plenty of areas to sit and chat in peace. Food is good , not expensive, we booked a private room for a function, it was well catered for. Coming back again next year.

The view is worth the cost alone. I was there for a small, business conference and the space was perfect for our needs. The place seemed like a popular, friendly atmosphere amongst the patrons.. The restaurant was packed so that's good too be a good sign.

I didn't have dinner here (so can't comment on the food) but had a few drinks, a slap and watched the footy. Very reasonably priced drinks and fantastic service!

Good customer service from bar and bistro service while I was attending a bucks party at the premises. The front of staff were amazing too.

Dinner for 4, and even though there was a fair wait for our food, it was well cooked and presented. Servings are a good size. Food wise, they have a roast special, which is great. That dish seems to be missing from other clubs in the area. We were very happy with our experience at this club. We'll be back.

Very nice club that is larger than it seems. Plenty of seating to relax. Restaurant is upstairs and has beautiful views. Meals are nice and well priced. The pokies area is well set out and fun. Definitely worth a visit.

Good bistro and busy inside. That's a good key for a feed. Crispy pork belly and a marinara pasta.

Food and service were excellent. So nice to get a med/rare steak when you ask for one.
As for atmosphere, 2 star only. Yes a wonderful view of the bay but the decor is strictly early cafeteria with plastic tables and plywood chairs.

Cheap drinks ,very cheap,$8 a pint for instance. Food in Marlins was I think great, had the pork belly!Service at reception, bar and restaurant was exceptional. Give it a go valued viewers!!

Garlic bread was overcooked so we sent it back. View of Nelson was awesome. Seafood linguine was top notch. Gentleman serving at the bar was a lovely chap. Young lady who served us to order our meals was helpful and friendly.

First time visiting the club, my steak was cooked amazingly. Amazing customer service. Unfortunately the whole menu was not available on the night we visited but there was only one item missing. All in all amazing place to dine.
Also has a nice little tab room and pokie rooms.
Definitely will visit again in the future.

Well worth the visit, friendly staff and a great location. Sunday afternoon had live music and a beef 'n' reef raffle. Highly recommended!

View is great on a fine day. Meals are okay. Seniors have a choice of around 5 meals at lunch time. Chicken snitzel is probably the most popular with salad & chips, gravy $2 extra.

Being a local we haven't been there for a while due to Covid. So it was nice getting back there and enjoying the Marlin restaurant. Friendly staff, good variety of food and reasonable prices.

First time their was super rushed wasn't told anything about the club or where anything was. Food was absolutely amazing but because was only one person at the bar doing drinks the food arrived before my husband returned. Just thought staff could be more helpful and there.

Great distant views over Port Stephens. Good variety of reasonably priced meals in the restaurant (Marlin's) located upstairs. Downstairs is a large bank of poker machines, a sports bar and some casual seating. Staff are pleasant and service is usually pretty quick.

Had lunch here today, beautiful view across Nelson Bay from the restaurant. Plenty of people enjoying a game of bowls but plenty of room in the club. Great spot for lunch.

Not a bad small club food was nice, The serves were big, my first time here friendly staff good pokie room.Drink prices very reasonable.

Ordered the Porchetta, pork was overcooked and looked like it had been crisped in a sandwich press, the advertised poached pear did not appear and the sweet potato mash was a bland puree.
My partner ordered the Barramundi which was well cooked and seasoned.
Prices was good but be careful what you order, stick to the basics.

This is the second time I have visited for a meal and the Atlantic Salmon tonight was cooked to perfection like the last time. Seriously, well done. 10/10

We loved this place! Homestyle meals, generous portions and kid friendly. There's also a few of the Bay if you are seated near the big window.We dined here several times during our week away. Our favourites were the seafood, pasta and steak dishes. The cheesy garlic bread is also a favourite.The food is good value considering it it restaurant quality and comes with a view. Drinks are cheap at club prices. We are talking $5 for a class of wine!On weekends kids get a free meal + drink + ice cream for each adult meal over $25 which is a great deal.Can't wait to come back!

Last night of our holidays and we decided to go to Nelson Bay Bowling & Recreation Club for dinner.
The restaurant is called Marlins on the Bay.
We walked in the front door and the lady doing reception was very helpful. Explained the restaurant was upstairs just to the left or there is an elevator further down.
It was actually very busy there tonight. A table of about 10 a lots of tables of 4 or 6 people and more tables of 2.
The girl taking the food orders was very busy but very competent and so friendly .
My partner had the Gilled salmon fillet $31.50
And I had the Salt & Pepper Calamari $25.90
They do have specials as well, tonight was $5 off steak. Also about where you order they have more specials.
We also had dessert which was also on special Chocolate Mudcake with cream or ice cream $8
Sarah the young bartender was doing a fabulous job, such a lovely friendly young girl.
Beautiful view from the upstairs restaurant , I did notice that you could reserve a table close to the big window to get that great view.
The restaurant is quite big and you are not squeezed in close to everyone.
Again as we walked out we spoke to a couple more staff who spoke to us and asked if we enjoyed ourselves.
We also love having a few games of Keno at all the clubs we visit.
I recommend this club if you are in the area, you will not be disappointed.
