Went here last night as a party of 16.
Of all 10 adult meals only one of us were happy with our meals.
The bruschetta was tragic, a thin slice of tomato on a piece of soggy bread stick.
Bar staff to be desired, one lady working behind the bar was extremely rude to some members of our group to the point of cursing at them.
Not acceptable.

We did however stay and join in on the trivia night which we found to be very enjoyable, the guy hosting was great.

As a member there, and retired chef, the food is not up to standard, 2 weeks ago , on a Monday night, I had a rump garlic prawns $46 had to send it back asked for medium rare , and was under rare, partner had pork belly had more salt in it than the ocean. Last night I had a pour excuse for a mixed grill, rissol was dry no flavour ,sausage was deep fried, steak paper thin. Bacon egg, just under $40. Partner had oily battered whiting, staff fantastic drinks also great, but myself and family won't dine there again I will go to members draws etc. But will eat Macca's before, cheaper and safer.

Attended today to celebrate my mums birthday. We had a great meal and the staff were really friendly. Would definitely come back. Thankyou

Service was amazing. Atmosphere was great. That's where it ends! Food was awful! Beef noodle salad was a bowl of cabbage with not one glass noodle in sight. Surely the chef knows what's in each meal and ensures the meals are correct before sending them out, added prawns to the salad which were barely cooked and so salty, they were inedible. Parmigiana at $33 (most expensive Parma I've ever ordered) was soggy and tasteless. We are from out of town and certainly won't be back! Prices for the quality are too expensive. I think the place is confused as to what it is. Atmosphere of a pub/rsl. Food and drink prices are of a fancy restaurant!

We have eaten here on a regular basis up until about 12 months ago, and really enjoyed it. Last year service was terrible and as there are normally about 14 of us, by the time the last meal came out, most of us had eaten.
Because of the above, we decided that we wouldn't go again, but because of the New Year, decided that we would give it another go.
Last night 14 of us went, and the majority had the $10 Seniors meal, but the majority were disappointed. The wrong meals were brought out, some were cold and one was not cooked well enough. We were disappointed and will give this venue a miss unless we hear of improvement.

The only redeeming feature was that they serve ciabatta bread rather than sourdough (I'm so over sourdough). We've eaten here loads of times before and never been disappointed but standards have dropped. I expected crispy roast potatoes with my roast beef but got a potato in its skin drowning in gravy. Beef was thinly sliced but still tough and tasted like it had been microwaved. Other veg not cooked through. I left most of it. Won't be back.

The chicken Parma was the worst I have ever had in Ballarat. $33 dollars for a heart shaped snitzel. Cheese hardly cooked add on ya drink nearly $40 .

Went with family for a birthday, checked pricing on website prior to going, website extremely outdated ended up having to pay 30-40% more for our meals, attempted to contact via email they didn't reply, no customer service and misleading pricing taking advantage of people who are already booked.

We went to try out the $10 seniors' menu on offer at the moment. We are definitely not big eaters, so often order from seniors' menu at other venues and pay $15 - $20 per meal.
Although the seniors' meals were very cheap, they were also very small. My husband had the seniors' roast, which he usually orders when we eat out. He wasn't impressed. He said the slices of meat were very thin, almost like they had been shaved. He doesn't like pumpkin, so he always requests an additional potato in place of the pumpkin. The gentleman who took our orders was okay with this, but when my husband's meal arrived, there was no pumpkin, but he was disappointed to find only one very tiny, "chat" size potato on his plate.
We would have preferred to pay $15 to get a bit larger meal.
I ordered the fish and although it was nice, it was also a very small meal, even for a seniors' meal.

I had the roast pork and it was bloody terrible. Chewy and the crackle was like rubber,i actually folded it into 4.Definitely lunch leftovers re heated.Gravy was like water and dripping off plate.
However the carrots were nice.

Food here at North is NOT worth the money or your time. You will go away disappointed, hungry, and out of pocket. My recommendation is to NOT go here. What is worse though is that staff are obviously outwardly rude to clients and Management are just as bad. If I could I would give them a zero out of 5 star rating as that is all they are worth - and honestly, that would be being generous. I, as the Board of Ballarat North Sports Club, would seriously reconsider the employment of 2 persons of Management - Michael Lucas and Patrick Thornton. I am not one to usually complain without trying to go through the right channels first. I spent just over 2 months trying to do as such with Michael and Patrick, before posting this negative review.

Went to the dinner and show on Saturday night.
The Cold Chisel cover band fantastic .
But the food , what big disappointment.

I've come for dinner and bingo. I've just had the porterhouse steak. Beautifully done. The best steak in a while. Kudos to the chef.

Went midweek for lunch, ordered seniors meal and got children's serve, cost $30 plus for 2 people. Walked away very disappointed never to return .

Went for a meal for my daughters birthday tonight. Both ordered steak, so disappointed. Bistro was very quiet, steaks arrived cold, garlic butter wasn't even melting, I had to spread it on the steak
Steak was so tough neither of us could eat it. And we joined up for memberships, thank god it made the drinks a bit cheaper.

Great food and very pleasant staff. The view of the stadium makes a great backdrop to the restaurant. We will definitely be going back for more.

Not sure what is happening, but the meals are terrible and if that's what the new Chef is serving, I wont be back to eat anytime soon.

Visited on the weekend, venue wasn't fully booked. But unfortunately when our steak finally arrived after 75 minute's from placing the order, it was charcoal! Placing it upside down on the plate certainly doesn't hide the fact.

Went for a meal on Wednesday night. Very busy in bistro but the service was great. A little wait on meal but it was very nice. Big thank you to the two girls working the bistro. Job well done . Hard tines when short on staff.

Wonderful Staff, friendly service Only let down by waiting time for meal, but they did have sa few people in and bingo service at the same time, and Steak a little bit overcooked for me, otherwise very impressive.

Some of the younger staff at this venue need to put 'their-manners-back-in' After being accused of doing something wrong in the gaming room (which never happened) I couldn't figure out why? Perhaps at the time the young man was just trying to impress his fairer colleague. But despite still being bewildered, I can only hope that this once fine club can brush up on their peoples skills. Rudeness, intimidation, by any show-off staff member should never be accepted by management, nor tolerated.

I understand times are tough in hospitality right now with covid, but still for $27 you'd expect something of a higher quality, something that could entice return customers. Not something that looks like it could have just come out of a frozen dinner box

My wife and l visited North Sports on the 20th of Feb 21 to have lunch. When we ordered we asked if the steak sandwich was sourdough bread or normal bread and were told it was normal bread so we ordered it after the attendant went to the kitchen to check that it was normal bread. When it came out it was a Sourdough bun that it was presented in and it had no butter on the bun and no sauce. After speaking with the attendant that said it was not sourdough he brought out sauce and butter but by the time he got that the meal was cold. Very, very disappointed.

Had a beautiful lunch here today, service was superb with two lovely girls who were very friendly and approachable. I was impressed by the service, especially with the food and will certainly come here again. Highly recommended!

Bought the porterhouse here a couple of times decent size if a little tough cooked medium tastes okay and friendly enough staff. Sundays they do a carvery which is excellent value for money. Decent family meal kind if atmosphere wouldn't be my first choice but is okay.

Visited the sports club tonight for dinner. All meals were lovely, the char grilled steak was amazing and melted in my mouth. The vibes were great and was a good family friendly environment. Will definitely be back again. Overall great service!
