Orange Ex-Services' Club, Orange NSW

Do not recommend, we are new to Orange and at New Year's Eve wanted to visit this place. The lady at the reception didn't let us in,because we are not members and forse to become one. We did not want to become members of that bar and were shocked that she basically just told us to go away.

December roast dinner was terrible, overpriced, cold Yorkshire pudding and very small for a dinner priced over $25. The chicken Parmigiani was better but still very overpriced and they got my order wrong, giving me the standard Parmigiani instead of the Italian Parmigiani that I ordered. The latte was very nice, smooth and a good coffee taste generally, these were all ordered at The Coffee Shop. This closed at 8pm so we moved into the bistro for another latte. This was served by a woman as bitter as this coffee. I assume she took the huff because we only ordered coffee. She slammed the coffee on the table and didn't say a word. So there are several possible reasons the club was virtually empty, as well as being Xmas Eve. We are only visiting Orange so it's a one off visit but I wouldn't be going back to this club judging by how the evening turned out.

Well I drove 8:5 hours to get here, party of 4, ordered 3 surf and turf, one with mash and veggies, one braised pie. Braised pie was lukewarm but tasty, hot would be better. They forgot the mash and the surf all except one. The steak was cooked ok. When we informed them that the order was accidentally wrong, the employee did not have a very good look on her face like we should just eat and shut up. I will not eat here again. What a waste of money.

Meals are just average some far to expensive and often overdone and tastless.
Why were all tables near the window reserved for lunch on the 25 july???
No one came for quite some time, i thought the diggers restaurant is for all members.
The elderly white haired lady from the staff got quite angry when I wanted to sit there even so the sign was gone. I felt like walking out instead of eating there, not a good atmosphere

Joined the club tonight. Both the rear and entrance receptionist where very welcoming, helpful , and pleasant in communication and there roles. Both the bat attendant and bistro servers where again very pleasing, and Joyful.
My order arrived promptly and was placed with politeness and a smile.
My garlic cheese bread was as expected.
My chilli garlic linguine was a good size and looked promising.
There where amble large prawns easily accommodating of one person.
Where I feel improvement could be made is in the flavour.
Unfortunately it was very bland , pasta was cooked well but quite gluggy, there was no seasoning and no heat or bite from I assume either dried flakes or chille powder .
The cheery tomatoes had no sweetness .
This dish with these ingredients all can take and need strong and powerful flavours as to boost and highlight the flavour experience.
Fresh chill and basil with a touch of roasted garlic would really pull this dish together and make it an explosion of flavour and texture.
I do look forward to returning and trying other dishes due to the great welcome and service and the pleasing ambience and environment.
