A sign of the changing face of Australia - $40 for the fish and $9.30 for a schooner of VB. Children from vaucluse, mosman, and palm beach have a nice place to hangout, and that's cool but the Recky ain't what it used to be. I really hope the floor staff have received some kind of pay rise in line with the changing clientele and price points, but of course I doubt it.
And I guess the alcohol licencing inspectors had something to say about venues having a nice view - the fence separating the outdoor area from the lake is a baffling choice otherwise.
The oysters are still nice, and when on special for 2$ a pop I presume they are the loss leader. Get them while they're cold.
I've been coming here for 10ish years and my family has for 30+
Sad to say that after the recent visit and seeing how things have changed we'll probably just bring some fish and chips, an Esky and sit on the nice side of the fence so we can still see the beautiful sunset over the lake. Venues are hard to run, especially boom/bust season venues like the Recky.
