Delicious food! Crispy schnitzel, generous burger and fries seasoned perfectly :)

So in we go for a meal on Anzac day.
We get hit w a surcharge on the meals. Not 10 percent but who knows what as its not signed anywhere there will be a surcharge but meals were a lot more than prices shown.
Any way i dont mind a small surcharge to cover public hols rates. This wasnt smal though.. Big no no.

We order the falafel balls. They were so over cooked nearly bounced of the plate....seriously. not hard to cook falafel my 10 year old does them. It says on menu served w tahini. Came out with some sort of whipped garlic ???? Meal said chips were served w aioli...non came out...the chips that were sent out in all 5 meals..in my 10nyear olds words...yuk. mum what r these..
I'm a local of 2 years and have been wanting to try this place for ages.. definable won't eat there again. Apart from the bar staff and manager who were so wonderful , the bistro staff who took our order was extremely unfriendly and rude. Such a shame. Not hard to get a basic menu right .

Visited the club for Christmas get together with friends. The club started serving the set menu bringing out the salads and the entrees the green salad came out PLAIN no dressing no parmesan shaves or nuts... it was like eating grass. then they brought out the main meal, meat and choice of two Ice creams. that lunch was not Christmassy at all , the space was not air conditioned properly and it was unpleasant. that was the first and last time I'm going there.

Had lunch with relatives on a Sunday. The battered fish ordered was " atrocious " , terrible beer batter and dry and tasteless inside. " Market fish " .....I doubt it , more like overcooked dry piece of hake, pre flash fried from a bulk pack and fried again, still in need of thawing. Stick to the knitting, steaks very tasty, accompanying salad ( very tiny ), sauce ....It didn't taste like my peppercorn sauce I make ( very bland ) ..... overall , move on to a proper Italian restaurant with proper meals, like Maranello's.

These guys just took over the restaurant a few weeks ago. Plenty of choices, all equally amazing. We had the lebanese lamb, a japanese karaage chicken and italian pizza and arancini. Good food take usually time, but these guys were not only fast, but they also deliver freshly made delicacies in record time! The music is not too loud so you can have a good conversation, also with the staff, which is friendly and attentive to details. Best place to eat in Randwick area!

Great young family spot on weekends where kids can play on grass while friends enjoy a drink outside knowing kids are safe. Inside the restaurant has been renovated and looks good, but not tried it.
Pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff. And yes, you can actually hear one another if you want to have a chat.

Rusty Shovel at the Randwick Club = Great food and lovely staff. I will return

What a lovely barman working there, called Nick! ZERO, customer service, ZERO, manners!
A bit of kindness Nick, goes a long way, you don't know what other people are going through, and if that's too much for you, you're in the wrong job, and you're probably more suited, to something, NOT, dealing with others!

Staff were lovely and friendly could not fault them.
However the air conditioner was broken
and had been for sometime,the club was like sitting in a sauna.Not impressed being visitors to the club..

Lunch at Shiny Shovel(Rusty Shovel from Kenso RSL)was just great, just as I remember, staff were lovely and the beer was great as well

Been going to this restaurant since it was the rusty shovel in Kensington war memorial club years ago. Have been countless times over many years and get to randwick bowling 2 or 3 times a month just for the food but the club itself is very nice and family friendly .recommend to anyone who likes a couple of drinks and a good feed .

Shoes rules are no make sense
When you play bowling you not allowed to use shoes but when you need to get drink from bar you have to wear them on ?
I would understand for a game not wear shoes because you can destroy lawn but for the pub ??!!

It says it has a kids play area, which is actually just the seated area outside. Very misleading. We went to order food in the Chinese restaurant but the lady refused to give us chips for our two kids unless we sat outside, but yet we couldn't order food from the restaurant menu unless we sat inside. Unbelievable that the same kitchen would cook both the chips and the Chinese food and yet we couldn't eat them in the same area. Needless to say we left and won't be back.

It's a quaint little club. Cheap drinks. Not much in the way of food though.

We love dining at the Rusty Shovel Chinese restaurant. The meals are a really generous size at fair price. Never had an issue with any of the meals but the Chicken Chow Mein and the Sweet and Sour Pork are amazing!!! Also should mention the waitress Jackie, who is so polite and welcoming!!!

We eat at the Shiny Shovel regularly, great staff and tasty chinese. You can't go wrong with a satay chicken and special fried rice. Definitely recommend booking on a Friday night as it can get pretty busy!
