Went to order a glass of wine -There were 2 trainees ( i think) who initially ignored me, then when I asked for a glass of wine I was asked if I wanted a schooner or other??? Then they queried my choice pointing to spirits, so when I pointed to the Sav Blanc on tap 3 times (didn't think they would understand the bottles in the fridge) it was too hard. Got my members card back & left without a drink.
Following on from that the "promo" that was on in the gaming room seemed off!! Three names kept coming out at least 3 times, like no-one else was there. When queried told it was the "computer" so disappointed in what we thought was a good club

The menu is available online to view and share prior to booking. This was great as our group of 9 had varied dietry requirements to meet. The booking was made a few days in advance via a link on the website. A booking confirmation email was recieved instantly. An email to confirm or make changes to the booking was received the day prior to our dinner evening. The wait time after ordering was reasonable and the meals were presentable and enjoyed by all.

Nice venue, conveniently located, very clean and friendly staff but food was inedible. Beef & noodle salad absolutely revolting, I was unsure what was going on with the dressing, had texture of curdled eggs. Chips on all other meals stone cold. Very disappointed as after meals were served could not located any staff to discuss with so decided to leave. Will not be back.

Food very nice BUT not allowed to take left overs home. Only club in Mackay that doesn't allow it. We now tend to go to others more. In the older age group and we don't eat as much. Who ever made the decision should change it.

The place is old. Food is good but not that great. Staff from the lobby and some other staff in the dining and cafe area are not that customer friendly. Not a family-child friendly place. So if you have kids, do not go here as one of the staff said, it is an adult venue. Good for their regular and older age bracket customers, they have this kind of ongoing territorial attitude it's kind of amusing. Membership is $5 with not much benefits, unless you come here all the time for pokies. They would need an ID on entry so bring one you come here (even if you only come to dine) otherwise you can't play in the game room as we are told. Overall, it's ok.

Excellent venue. Good service and nice food. Big car park and a reasonable gluten free range.

Older male and female greeters at the reception area were not great at customer service. They were short with me when I got there and it all seemed too hard for them when I asked a question. I let that slide but the food wasn't great either. The pasta dish had no flavour while the seafood basket had too much salt.

Loved our experience from the moment we walked through the doors. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Tanya (I hope that's right) took our order and she asked all the right questions and nothing was forgotten for everyone's orders, my scatter brain always forgets the BBQ sauce or something but she was so thorough, friendly and helpful she definitely made the 5 star experience.
All of meals were amazing, even the gluten free coating on the calamari was nice, which is rare!

South's Deleted my comment on Facebook and blocked me. We shared our experience from this Friday night as the "Family Friendly" bistro flat out refused to serve anyone before 6pm (we were told to go back and site down until after 6) even though staff were standing around doing nothing. Our 1.5 year old was tired and had enough so we left.
We will never return. Also had a photo of our membership cut in half... guessing that's why they blocked us.

With the busy time for Mother's Day luncheons, I was really impressed with the efficiency of the staff. It didn't take long to order and receive our meals. The salad was fresh and our seafood was cooked to perfection. The only thing I would recommend is having seniors meals that are a bit smaller. We left very satisfied with very full bellies ??'???'?

Amazing food and atmosphere.
Would have to be the best kids room I've come across, the room is staffed and you need to sign in and out! The staff are wonderful and offer many activities for the children.

Either air-conditioner aren't running, or running in ECO mode, it wasn't very pleasant inside the building at our ladt visit. Understand these clubs rely on members somewhat, but SLC's membership fee was a bit of an eye opener compared to many others' $1 or no fee membership offers. Easily recouped after a meal and a drink on member prices but still, was a bit of a surprise after becoming member at many other clubs. Even meal prices weren't quite comparable to many other club's prices. Nice enough place, but...

Took family for a meal last night I had the daily roast, the vegetables were cold returned and was given another helping it to was cold. Very disappointing rest of families meals were excellent maybe should have chosen something else.

Every staff member was friendly even though ìT was fully booked and the meals were all delicious and plentiful

Christmas party for work. meals were ok , no complaints from my co workers. Young lady at the cafe didn't know how to make a flat white but that was on the individual. Clean and friendly place. No real problem getting a car park. Didn't chase us out when they should have, when we just sat around talking. No over loud music. Somewhere for the kids. Basic league's club fare in Mackay. Good. Would go back.

Top staff, great courtesy bus and all welcome. I joined up for $5.50, so impressed with the service. Fantastic views of the Mackay airport.

wow. really bad night I ended up throwing my membership in the bin on the way out. The elderly lady on the sports bar looked at me like a deer in headlights when I asked what Sav they have, the xxxx dry was either at the start or end of the keg or wasn't mixing with the gas correctly and the old girl served me a flat horrible beer knowing it wasn't right.
ordered meals and the girl in the bistro ringing up orders, placed them on the wrong number. luckily another girl clued on otherwise we would still be waiting. ordered medium rare steak, came out medium well. Fish was missing the tartare, girl in pokie machine short changed me $2.
Is this really the best staff you can hire? obviously a lack of training in all departments. I'm new to Mackay and was wondering why this place is so quiet on a Friday night. I now know why, and why I threw out my membership

We came for dinner and ordered 3 steaks medium rare which all came out well done and mine was burnt. Also, ordered a carnivore meal and it was over cooked and burnt as well.

Here for dinner tonight to celebrate a birthday and all of it was bad. We had a crumbed steak, chicken parmy, and seafood basket for mains, the cheese and bacon bread and calamari for entrees.

- the crumbed steak was overcooked, the serving of chips and veggies was ludicrously small.

- the chicken parmy was tough and the cheese was definitely a cheap low quality cheese with a bad taste, the chip serving was tiny and the veggies were stone cold.

- the seafood basket was mostly batter. The menu advertises 'whiting' but I got some other kind of battered fish that tasted like a bottom feeding fish, the prawn cutlets were way too battered, the seafood stick was disintegrated and mostly batter, the chip serving was decent but nothing special.

- kids meal servings were tiny for the price.

- the entrees weren't great, the cheese on the bread was burned and the calamari was tough.

- the xxxx tap beer had a strange taste but the juice, lemon lime bitters, and water was fine.

- service was pretty slow but the staff were nice.

- the kids club was pretty good though, it was nice to drop the kids off and not have to worry.

All in all though, never again.

Mum and I went to the cafe For my birthday. If you are a member of South's they give you a few freebies in your birthday month... $5 keno, $5 beverage ticket, $5 that can be used for food or drinks and a free coffee and cake.
We enjoyed a coffee and a cheesecake and it was delicious, The staff are also very friendly.

Used to be a good club but has gone down hill dramatically, no atmosphere. Coffee shop tables never get
cleared away only as some one leaves. Lack of courtesy bus to regular patrons from the north side is also a big issue for myself and several friends.

Came to Souths with my Staff for an afternoon of team bonding over lunch and bowls. It was very enjoyable and my employees are already asking when we can go again. A great option for small business functions

Ordered meal at 6.35pm with other people at our table. It was only steak and a grilled chicken breast so shouldn't take to long right. Other 3 people had finished their meal and we still hadn't got ours. We waited an hour. Really

Great club and very friendly staff. Was nice sitting out side in the cooler weather and the food was nice. The prices are decent and kids (12 and under) eat free on Thursday nights. We had a great time in a relaxed atmosphere. Thanks Souths.

We decided to pay a visit here when in Mackay - it was a great decision the staff were very helpful the atmosphere good and the menu was great and affordable. A pleasant way to spend a few hours. It has Pokies available.

Made a booking for dinner here and it was great. Ordered the roast of the day which was pork and beef. Both were delicious. The kids ordered chicken Kiev which was just as good. Overall, the service and food was great.

Great friendly atmosphere. Enough space and different areas to make sure it never feels over-crowded. Beer selection is actually quite good, with prices low. Regular happy hours (with membership, $1-2?) make it even cheaper, which makes for a great drink session with mates. Food is also good value, large portions, buffet, good range.
