**Review of Wollongong Golf Club**

Wollongong Golf Club, located right in the heart of Wollongong, offers a fantastic golfing experience with stunning views of the coastline and surrounding mountains. Played here on a Monday fairly good course on scenic location right on the beach dunes. Great value for money. Large club house and outdoor bar / Cafe right on the 18th green.

Time very basic for the price ($702 for 2 nights!!!). Food ok, but nothing special. Golf course rank average, with poor fairways and very tight with limited signage to tell you where to hit.

Wollongong NSW Golf Club Best Western City Sands is a treasure of Wollongong. My 9 nights stopover was great, all housekeeping staff were so welcoming, nothing was too much trouble for them. Mary on reception not only gave me her full expertise with allocation of my apartment close to lift due to my age, Mary also took time out to assist me in the car park at night. Annette from housekeeping gave me tips on the many highlights of Wollongong as l am from Melbourne. Sincere thank you to all the staff ?

Beautiful views, great location, easy to get to with plenty of parking. Lovely meeting room set up and the service was fantastic.

This pleasant little club boasts great views and facilities. The staff are inviting and friendly and the food choice and quality is amazing. A must for a quick or long lunch. Great course as well

My friends and I had lunch at The Deck on Friday 19th, January. Everyone of us had a delicious meal that was beautifully presented. The atmosphere was pleasant and the staff were very friendly and attentive to any of our needs or requests. We will definitely sine here again.

Always good staying at the 19th Hole Best Westin Wollongong. However the rooms need an upgrade. Curtains had holes in them. We were moved to a new room as the ac wasn't working due to storm damages. The new room was smaller than the original.

Golf course in great condition. Haven't played it for nearly 30 years, but loving the new layout. Gives a chance to score all over the course. Might now rate as my favourite course in the Illawarra.

Had a few drinks and a meal with friends. Really enjoyed, great location.

Enjoyed playing this links style golf course. The course is located adjacent to Wollongong beaches with several holes providing scenic backdrop views of the ocean. A number of holes included water hazards that provided challenges, and when combined with raised greens and coastal breezes, it just adds to everyone's enjoyment.

The kikuyu fairways were in good condition, as were the greens that rolled fast and true.

The practice facilities consisted of a putting green and warm-up nets.

The pro shop carried all your golfing essentials. The staff were very professional and friendly. I look forward to playing this course again in the future.

Lovely views from upstairs. Some nice fresh selections for lunch, including gourmet Pies. I had the roast pumpkin salad, which very tasty.

Nice place, on the night we went it was not crowded but it was busy. Service was good, as was the food.

Bar service quick. Food more bistro standard, salad & chips acceptable only. Menu reasonable and pricing $22 - $40. Coffee and desserts good.

After seeing an ad on IG for "The 19th Hole" restaurant we decided to go and look. The view was outstanding! Overlooking the golf course with the sea as a backdrop. Just wow! The table was excellent, right next to the window. The blonde girl that showed us our table gave us a choice of two, well done, compared to just telling where to sit, thank you. I will say that she certainly can try to crack a bit of a welcoming smile. She made you feel as if to say 'so what are you here for?'. She could take your experience up a whole notch. The young man was very helpful and friendly. The brisket burger was just excellent, I could suggest just a tad less hot sauce to get the full flavour of the excellent brisket. The cheese burger was also excellent! Real hand made Patty. The Chip were extra crispy and perfectly fried. A definite revisit is on the books. Maybe the girl will be having a better day.

Nice venue and views.. food menu very mediocre - no kids options on menu.. some waitstaff were very short and rude others were lovely...

Distance yardage markers not coloured. No golf hole signs.
No yardage markers in centre of the green.
No distance mark on pop up sprinkler head.

Ordered a barramundi fillet with salad and chips. What turned up on my plate was a surprise. I got all of the above plus a little green grub in the salad. Returned the meal and requested no salad but they did not listen and got the salad so it went back again and finally got the fish and chips. So check your salad.

We have played here socially a few years ago and enjoyed it. But doubt we will bother coming back again after today. We are experienced players who often play in competition. It was a comp day here and we were 1st 4 off after the comp. Unfortunately we are not used to players who just walk onto your fairway to take their shot, underestimating what we could drive. And were quite rude about it. The comp was slow and at 15 2 of our party gave up. We then waited more than 5 minutes for players in front to find a ball then give up to take another tee shot. As they had lost a hole thought we should have been called through. Did 16 and thought we might as well finish it was a very windy day too. Apparently we were complained about cutting through though we drove straight off to give up and were told there are comps every day so to expect the same. It's a shame as it is an unusual course along the sea but not worth the trouble in my opinion.

It was my first time eating at the club tonight, and I can sum it up in two words....overpriced and mediocre!
I'm just glad I didn't order the fish & chips (it was served on a piece of paper on top of the plate), or the $24 cheeseburger (it was served in a plastic basket??).
Very poor for the venue it's trying to pass it self off as.

Who knew what an amazing backdrop Wollongong Golf club offers! It was the perfect place for an almost beach wedding! On one of the few beautiful, sunny and warm Spring days we've had this season, a fabulous view of the islands, the massive waves crashing in the sand in the background... awesome...and then there was the reception upstairs in the club...food was excellent (well mine and hubbies were), very accommodating to weirdo allergies and preferences?, and full windows giving more than glimpses of the front 9, with island backdrop.... definitely on the recommend to all list...
And, now keen to play a round!

Stayed at the Best Western Sands Hotel, right on the golf course. What a top spot, staff are really friendly. Great rooms, and service excellent, will be back.

Well, it's overpriced to start with, $24 for a burger and $24 for 3 bangers and mash, but that would be ok if the meals came with some quality. It seems like the small number of diners is a reflection of the meals. This being local for us, it would be good to see it do well, but someone needs to take a serious look at what's on offer if they are going to get locals as repeat customers. Can't see us returning anytime soon unfortunately

We arrived for Father's Day and I'd booked for 12noon for 9 people.
We were greeted by a staff member saying you will have to leave by 1:30pm as we have double booked your table!
Hello and welcome would have been nice!
The staff member pointed to our table so we went and sat down, I said to the staff member that we were one chair short.
By the time we all sat down and I asked again for another chair it was 12:15pm
The 9th chair was sat at the corner of the table as there wasn't enough room!
We then rushed to order our meal as we only had an hour by this stage. By the time our meal came and we ate it, it was time to leave.
We were also celebrating 2 birthdays and I had taken 2 birthday cakes which we didn't have time to get out.
We all had to go back to my place to continue our birthday celebrations.
Very disappointing Wollongong Golf Club...

Stayed overnight in one of the ocean view rooms on the third floor which over look the golf course, low dunes and ocean waves. The view is awesome.
Staff were good, hotel room was clean and the club and kitchen restaurant were good standard club fair and friendly atmosphere.

Great course, well maintained (played after 3 days of heavy rain). The water loved my ball!

Great place for a cold ale. Bistro is nice with a great view of the course and ocean.

The team at the 19th hole made our lunch beautiful. Food and service excellent. It was a birthday and Whitney presented our cake to perfection. Thank you all for a lovely time.

Went for a late Sunday lunch. Worked out perfectly. Table by the window and we didn't wait long at all for our meals.

Good food, nice venue, great for group catchup, plenty of seating. Good atmosphere overlooking golf course.

Quality bistro food prepared and served by competent staff. Great views from the dining room.

Great food at a function, but upstairs bar closed early if NO function on.
However, nice surroundings, friendly staff.

Posted golf there yesterday the course is in good condition considering all the rain we have had. I would like to see some signage on each hole and maybe a pic of the hole you are playing. Maybe get some better drainage on the course.

The place was unusually busy but staff were on the ball and food was served within a reasonable time frame. Some bar staff were clearly new and therefore slow but the solitary male working the bar was excellent. Food was ok, not great and not big portions.

Dined at the club last night (24 Feb 2021) and I can highly recommend the Maple BBQ Beef Brisket w/ House Made Corn Bread & Slaw for $24.00 and not a chip in sight.No complaints whatsoever. I complimented the chef on my way out.

Accommodation very clean, staff r cheerful, helpful n friendly. Pro Shop neat n tidy, lacking in appearal. As 4 the golf course!!? Some nice holes...but they'll have 2 come up with a better configuration for the holes!! Half a dozen times we're standing in the middle of our fairway n golf balls r coming over our heads from behind as well as from the front from other tees!! I'll let you make up your on mind on that note
