Very friendly staff. Food was great, steak sandwhich was great value, cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. It was a thick full steak.

Went in for the weekly feed of pub grub. Whilst not a bad thing felt a bit under dresses in singlet and shorts as this place carries a very "up scale" weddings/couples dates vibe.

Very luxurious feel.

Parmi was pretty good ($29) and while I have had better parmis and with more value, ($29 is pushing it, you'd want a decent portion) I will still give 5 stars as this does feel like a more upscale restaurant and I could tell that the ingredients were of a higher quality to most other pubs I have been to. The chips were definitely all natural potato which was great.

Drinks I think we're also somewhat reasonably priced.

I will be back again, but maybe for a wedding or more dresses up event. Overall a good pub

My husband and I had our wedding at the Batesford Hotel last November, and had such a great experience working with the team there. They were extremely accommodating and nothing was a hassle. On the day, everything went smoothly without a hitch, even despite the rain we had throughout the ceremony - if anything, it just added to the fun atmosphere. There are also beautiful locations surrounding the venue for photos not to mention the picturesque venue itself, so we didn't have to leave there at all once we arrived. Everything from the ceremony, to cocktail & canape hour and then the reception was relaxed and full of love, and our guests had a wonderful time. Highly recommend.

Spontaneously, my husband and I opted for lunch at the Batesford Hotel on a Sunday afternoon. We were fortunate to secure one of the last available tables. Under new locally managed and owned, the establishment boasted a refreshed and modernised ambiance.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating throughout our visit. Opting for the fried chicken burger, I must say it stands out as one of the best burgers I've enjoyed in quite some time - and I consider myself a burger enthusiast. My husband relished the Parmigiana, describing it as delicious.

Venturing to the back, we found the beer garden abuzz with activity. Fortunately, we managed to secure a table and indulged in post-meal drinks amidst the lively atmosphere. The beer garden's charm lies in its picturesque setting alongside the river, cleverly fenced off to ensure a safe environment for families. The shaded area beneath the trees adds to the appeal.

In conclusion, our experience at the Batesford Hotel exceeded expectations. The delectable food, attentive staff, and the enchanting beer garden make it a highly recommended dining spot

Our wedding was the first of the new management team, to say they hit it out of the park in an understatement!! They were kind, caring and so amazing!! The little details they put in made our day that extra special. Rachel and Georgie's eye for details were amazing, they brought my vision to life and more. Matt was a total rockstar and just got us!!! We can't thank you enough. We will have a table when you open back up officially, We can't wait to see you again

Absolutely amaaaaazing food! Great range on the menu, love the new vegetarian options as well, definitely something for everyone there. Service is always friendly and well timed. Could expand the drinks menu a little but still enough there that everyone can find something to enjoy. A fantastic local pub.

Recently we spontaneously visited this hotel for lunch. We were greeted by wonderfully friendly staff, who were fabulous throughout our dining experience. The food was amazing. I had Gluten free calamari and it was definitely the best I've ever had, both tender and delicious.
Do yourself a favour and check out this lovely little gold mine.
We are heading back there soon.

When I saw the ad and menu for Mother's Day Lunch on your website, we were quite excited that for $75 you get a drink and snacks on arrival followed by 3 course meal.

We arrived at 12:55pm, sat down and waited 25 minutes for us to receive our complimentary drink, 3 champagnes and 1 beer. Which I might add when we paid at the end of day we were changers for the complimentary drinks and I had to go back and get refunded.

We then received our entree after 2pm, then we order another lot of drinks and they came 35 minutes later.

Our mains arrived at 3:15pm, which we had a table of 4 and they only brought out 3 mains and I had to request the 4th main to come out which took a while.

We then got our dessert straight away.

We had noticed that tables that arrived after us received their meals before us, and it seemed like there was no structure in delivering meals to tables.

Above i mentioned about the complimentary drink and snacks on arrival, well I'm afraid we did not receive any snacks on arrival and by the looks no other table did as well.

I had the cauliflower as entree and that was very disappointing as it was three tiny little pieces like the dregs you get at the bottom of the bag.

I had the slow cooked lamb for main which was nice but very bland and no flavour.

I understand that you had a full restaurant and possibly not enough staff but we walked away very disappointed.

I sent an email and they said expect a response 2-3 business days, it's been a week and no response. Never eating there again.

Lovely pub in great location with nice meals but the highlight was amazing customer service from Adam who went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. It's rare to receive such attentive service these days

We want to thank Marina and her staff at the Batesford Hotel for hosting our wedding ceremony and reception.
From the moment we seen the venue and met the event staff we knew this was the venue where we wanted to have our special day.
Marina was so accommodating and thoughtful making sure our day was magical and that we had everything we needed even calming both our nerves when needed.
The event staff were great making sure we were well taken care of all through out the night with wonderful amazing food and drinks.
The venue was beautiful and was exactly what we had hoped for.
If your looking for a laid back vibe but elegantly beautiful then the Batesford is your choice.

Just got home from Geelong..on the way my sister and I stopped for lunch at the Batesford Hotel on the way back to Ballarat...although very quiet being a Wednesday we had the best time...Adam our waiter was fun, attentive and just an all round really nice person...the wine we chose...he said was a good choice and it certainly was...the chef that day (unfortunately didn't get his name) even came out to our table to chat..he was excellent to...although I live on the Gold Coast I would definitely recommend a visit to the Batesford Hotel, busiest days apparently Friday, Saturday and Sunday unfortunately not staying long enough to go again...and disappointed I didn't even take a photo!! ?thank you for making our afternoon..

Lack of communication about closure dates. Made a booking over phone, where the recorded message provided the days of the week and operating times. We turned up at one of those operating times, after making a booking days ahead, only to be turned away by a man, who seemed to be the cook and/or owner. He claimed that he was closed over the holiday period. That is fair enough but it is poor customer service that the closure dates are not mentioned on the website or phone message. I asked had he thought of recording the closure dates but I was ignored. Instead he told me that he had turned away 50 people during this period who turned up with reservations because the booking app did not have the closure dates either. I think this is incredibly poor, actually, total lack of customer service. Batesford is an out of the way place. We will never go to this place again. If you do not respect the customers with basic information then why should potential customers benefit you with their hard earned dollars. Not good business practice. I have only given 1 star but would have preferred zero stars but that is not an option.

We had Dinner last night with friends, the service was very poor, we had to keep going up to the bar to order more drinks,as they normally serve you at the table and then they sent out 3 meals of Beef and Reef Burnt telling us they were on the house! What pub servers burnt meals, they should of told us what had happened then offered free drinks while they cook fresh steak Not serve burnt meals!! So disappointed that we won't be going back!

A historic pub located next to a beautiful stream. Plenty of places to dine at the venue, we opted to dine indoors in the bar area. There is something for everyone on the menu. The bartender was friendly and attentive, and the wine selection was lovely. We had a nice local bottle of Pino Grigio with lunch. Meals were generous portions and tasty. Was quite busy on Sunday for lunch service however the service was quick and meals arrived quickly also. Will definitely be back again!

We just shared our anniversary here tonight and it is by far the best place we've ever gone for a meal!
I had the steak and it cut just like butter, it was so soft and so full of flavour I was very impressed.
The pork belly bites and the Turkish bread are to die for, absolutely beautiful atmosphere and the staff are so friendly.

We just had lunch at the Batesford Hotel and it was superb ! Highly recommended this hotel, with it's wonderful staff. Adam is a delight and so helpful. Compliments to the chef - I had the lamb shanks and they were obviously slow cooked because the meat fell off the bone. The battered fish was so fresh and not too many chips. Such a delight, especially with the open fire going. Thank you one and all - we'll be back - letting everyone know about this gem of a hotel.

Great place for lunch, dinner or just a drink. Lovely outdoor area for when the weathers nice or enjoy the dinning room with a fireplace for rainy days or for a more formal, yet relaxed environment. Staff have always been very accommodating & friendly - Thanks.

Love their Irish mash(think it is no longer an option) and am always fortunate to find that they will replace the potato option with it.

Lovely surroundings, great atmosphere and always on the cards when passing through the area.

Today I discovered their surf and turf, where the turf is a hidden menu item. Big meal, but worth it.

Brilliant old pub established in the 1800's, absolutely fantastic wedding venue we had our daughters wedding ceremony there on Friday the 18th of February out in the beautiful gardens overlooking the Moorabool river and the historic blue stone bridge the reception followed in their Moorabool room which overlooks the gardens also, the event staff were fantastic and couldn't do enough to make our daughters wedding day something very special and the staff during the day went above and beyond, I can't recommend this venue enough for any type of functions if I could give it a 6 star rating I would ?.

Very nice hotel and the food was delicious. Very nice place to sit and relax and enjoy a grazing platter and enjoy the afternoon.

I would have given 5 stars, the staff were sooo great and up for a laugh. But the food (it was great) but they don't really offer the usual pub meals. But was a great place and absolutely gorgeous inside.

One of the friendliest places I've stopped at for dinner, from the welcome when we arrived to the farewell as we left, definitely a place I'll be back to.
The meals were awesome and well priced for the quality and quantity, the Pork Belly is a winner.
With a huge function room and garden out the back, it's a great location for that special day with views over the nearby river.
