We decided to stay in the city to help support local businesses. Our stay at Batman on Collins was a poor and disappointing experience. The room heating didn't work and we were offered another room at 2 am while our kids were already asleep . We slept in a freezing room ( would have been. Better off in the comfort of our home just under 30 mins from the city) . At breakfast we asked for hollandaise sauce to be told they've run out , made a mistake with our coffee order after taking 20 mins or more to make the coffee. Our main issue was the room with no heating but all the little bits added to the already bad experience. Spoke to the front office duty manager about the heating the next morning who was quite abrupt and unconcerned . Told us the front office manager will call back to us no one bothered to call it's been almost 4 weeks and us responding to a survey with the feedback still no one had the courtesy to call.

It was close and convenient to what I wanted to do in the city and the staff are very kind and helpful.
I am a regular at the Batmans and was surprised to be asked for a $200 bond besides paying my room rate. For goodness sake I am not renting the property and surely this should be a no go for regulars. This will make me reconsider my city stay at the batmans from now on and I visit the city very often.

Only went to bar with friends, and impressed with almost everything. Yeah it's pricey, but it's on Collins St in the city so I suppose it's to be expected. Great location, across from Southern Cross railway station, tram out front and buses also. The staff were lovely, very helpful, great suggestions, and talkative (which I like!), the smacks were yummo! Delicious, nutritious and beautifully presented. Extremely clean (you could say prestine!) - in the bar and foyer areas. However the restrooms left a lot to be desired. The bins were overflowing, unpleasant smells, laminated signs looked cheap, nasty and out of place,water marks all over mirrors, yeah not so nice. The decor is minimal but nice, particularly liked the planters on every table - just gorgeous (thanks for the ideas!). Music could be different for the time (5pm, after work), and louder. Would come again.

After reading the reviews I proceeded to book here with caution ...
I wore my work clothes, was greeted most politely by staff when I booked in late, and directed to my room .room was up to date ,tastefully furnished , beds were clean and made and shower worked very well . Staff were equally polite on departure ensuring a swift getaway . Great value honestly and the location if travelling is perfect

Upon check in I notified the reception that I would be staying in a room booked under my brothers name as he recently needed surgery. The receptionist was understating and I recognised that the hotel would need to proceed with caution to avoid room theft. Considering, the manager who was notified about the change was rude and dismissive, not treating me with respect and empathy but shortness and frustration. I proceeded to wait roughly 40 minutes before I received the key. I offered for my brother to call and confirm ID but they said that's not an option and I'd need to get him to change the booking name on the third party booking site. My brother was unable to do this so he called and they were able to confirm is ID over the phone after previously stating this wasn't an option.
Upon checkout the receptionist, different from check in didn't treat me with respect, he practised no eye contact, and spoke with a degrading tone. When I handed the key to him he looked me up and down and said I'd have to wait for my deposit as they need to confirm the room isn't damaged. This is the first hotel where I've experienced this but I understood and waited. When he got word the room was fine he signalled me over to receive my deposit return ($100 is a large deposit) then proceeded to start a check in process with a different consumer, resulting in me having to wait longer. I feel the treatment may have been influence by my age, as I am 21 but I am a paying costumer who respected the facilities and didn't feel the staff interaction reflected the standard of professionalism the hotel attempts to express.
The room itself was lovely, great facilities, comfortable beds, clean and tidy but the costumer service experience unfortunately left a sour taste in my mouth.

Im currently staying at hotel. When we arrived the ladies at check-in were great. Really friendly and helpful. We have a Premier room which is a nice room, with a great rain shower and have slept like a baby. Uo until this morning everything was great. Its Sunday Morning and ive gone down for the buffet breakfast. Don't waste your time or Money. Go down about 840am and make myself a cold cup of tea. Go over to get some bacon and eggs, none of which were in the bae-marie. 3 times i went over and asked when the food would be ready, coming Sir. Then the older staff Lady come over to start arguing with me that there is food, No there isnt, no eggs or bacon, couple bits of tomatoes and sausages. After that i got up and left and went up and spoke to the lady checking names off. I was not the only customer to complain,She was very apologetic.
When i left there were lots of customers arriving . Very disappointing to say the least, so went to maccas across the rd. If it wasnt for the check-in experience it would have been 2 stars. My rm no 3305
