Baxter Tavern & Motel - Clubs and Pubs in Baxter Victoria

This place has been a go to for years. Now, not so sure. Two visits ago we waited an hour for a schnitzel and a pasta. "Yes" it was busy and we were told there would be a wait but couldn't be given an approximate time. Okay I get it, kinda. This time, Friday night ordered and the place was 40% full i estimated. After 35 minutes my partner went up to ask why the delay to be told abruptly " it's only been 30minutes and we've been busy". Not our fault! It's a schnitzel and a pizza so 45minutes (give or take a minute or two) doesn't cut it in this day and age. If your kitchen can't cope get more staff (not overly easy in this hospitality time) or don't try to do as many meals. Better to get quality meals out in a timely manner and deliver the expectation than to ruin your brand with excessive waits, poor customer service or substandard meals. Schnitzel dry pizza undercooked base. Enough said.

The Baxter Tavern is one of our family's favorite spots - we go there at least once a month for lunch or dinner, and it never disappoints! The food is always amazing, with a great variety to choose from.

What I love most is the atmosphere. It has that classic country pub feel, with décor that perfectly reflects it and open fireplaces that are especially cozy in winter. It's such a welcoming and relaxing place to be.

Most of the time, we enjoy our meals in the bistro, but every now and then, we'll sit in the public bar where you'll find a great vibe and friendly locals.

If you're looking for delicious food, a warm atmosphere, and genuine country pub charm, Baxter Tavern is the place to go. Highly recommended!

Called into the Baxter Tavern with family after going to the Funky Farm. We were too late for the lunch menu but were advised we could get pizzas in the gaming room. We had such a great experience. The staff were so friendly and went out of their way to make sure we got lunch for our kids. The lady with short hair was super helpful bringing free chips while we waited for our pizzas. It was so nice to be treated so well and made to feel so welcome. Thank you.

We used to love coming down here for a counter meal. The staff are friendly, the meals are good and the beer is cold. This time, however, we were at the bar twice, once to order a beer and the next time for food. Both times, despite being first to the bar, the staff served the locals first, even those that arrived well after we had been there. We even had one bloke walk right in front of us to bar staff and order, as if we weren't there. We won't be making the drive anytime soon.

Have been coming here for years. Staff. are always friendly but tonight we were very disappointed.
On our last visit we had seniors meals and felt they were a little light on compared to previous times but weren't really bothered until this visit when we found our seniors meals were quite a bit smaller than comparable standard priced meals.
We realised this when the table next to us had the same meals but at standard price and were much larger meals!
In the past seniors meals were the same as standard meals which was very good value but now we feel that they have made the meals smaller but don't tell you.We are quite happy to pay full price for a full meal but feel this should be advertised.
