The new renovations don't compare near as good as the old ones. Also very expensive and food was mainly cos Lettuce on every plate. I asked for chips and veg but no that was all an extra in side dishes $$$. Definitely will not be returning to a place I have eaten at for 20 years and will be passing rhe message on.

New decor is ordinary at best. Children's playroom is a few bean bags and a peg board. Food here was once exceptional but now, for the first time in 15 years, order sent back claiming a 200 gr was 400 gr...this steak could fit in my coin purse in my wallet. Erin was exceptional at dealing with incompetent cooks but couldn't fix the issue (probably hamstrung by lazy cooks..who are not chefs)...won't be back and will be yelling from the roof tops "STAY AWAY FROM THE NEW AND IMPROVED BIRALEE TAVERN"

I ordered the Market fish which was Salmon.
Portion was slightly small for $35.
Only served with two pieces of bok choy on either side of it and a little garnish of sorts served on top. There really should be a couple of baby potatoes or rice as an addition. Wasn't filling enough.
Fish was undercooked so I sent it back.

Nice atmosphere apart from the flies coming into the bistro while we were eating.

Renovations look fantastic but the premium price for the food and drinks were not worth it personally. $90 just for 2 schnitzels and 2 kids meals. The meals were delicious but not $30 for a schnitzel delicious. $8 for a soft drink which was half ice. The kids got locked outside in the playground so had to go out a gate and walk around to get back in which isn't safe. Kids menu isnt on the full menu only on colouring pages, and seniors meals weren't on the app to order. Food did come out in a very reasonable time.
15% surcharges on public holidays too so he mindful of this with their already high pricing.

To be completely honest the food was pretty ordinary for the price. One item was overcooked. The other was good kids meals not that great play area is amazing but more safety needs to be in place especially in the change room as it's easy for a child to be injured on the change map table as it wasn't bolted to the wall Overall great atmosphere to take the kids but very expensive
