The food service was amazing, the man at the front of the bistro was very hospitable and easy going. The menu selection was very good, along with the pricing. The portions followed suit and were also more than suitable.
However, our lunch was certainly hindered by the bar service. What is supposed to be at the heart of Australian pub culture felt quite alien and absent here. The older lady pouring beers made absolutely zero attempt to be friendly or have a chat despite valiant efforts to maintain conversation. Other members of the bar also didn't appear too keen on maintaining a customer focused attitude as I had to sustain an unusually rigorous effort to get the help I required at the time.
The way we were treated at the bar was anti Australian to say the least, the sociable and humane pub culture I've grown to love and cherish was not upheld. In fact it was put in jeopardy at the taps today. This was increasingly disappointing due to the fact that our food/bistro service was exceptional via the compassionate customer focused attitude provided by the employees.
