Really charming and unpretentious pub feel. Service was excellent and what is great is that there was a small glitch in the food order, and barkeep straight up admitted and apologised and without prompting compt'd drinks for both daughter and myself, but said just one is ok but appreciate the positive approach here. Sunday steak order was very good, and the grilled barramundi also very good quality, flavour and value. Relaxing place, great vibe, nice and professional staff. Will return, definitely

Bonny is a contemporary, neighbourhood bar located on Brunswick Street, Fitzroy. They have a focus on sustainability, featuring 27 curated taps of independent local wine, signature cocktails and craft beer. 🍻

The kitchen is taken over in periods by different Melbourne chefs, giving them an opportunity to showcase their incredible talents. Currently residing is head chef James Cornwall (Cumulus Inc) who brings a stunning menu to the table. '🏽‍🍳

Definitely plan your visit for their Wagyu Wednesdays and Sundays, where you can enjoy a steak (or any main meal) for a wild $30pp including UNLIMITED fries! Unheard of. You can also enjoy Happy Hour 4-7PM Thurs-Fri and 2-5PM Saturdays, with $8 Schooners, $10 Wine, $10 Spritz. 🥩

For cocktails, I recommend the Native Negroni. We couldn't help but want to try almost everything on the menu, beginning with some refreshing starters of oysters and a smashed cucumber salad. 🦪

Standouts to us were the Spelt Flatbread, beautifully seasoned and paired with a slightly sweet butter, and that extra crispy Hot Honey Fried Chicken. Although popular for the Steak, which was cooked well and served with a beautiful sauce we did find it slightly under seasoned.

We were personally much more wowed by the Double Cheeseburger, super juicy and full of flavour. We did think it needed a little something extra to balance out the double smash patty but an almost faultless dish. "

They also have a street alfresco areas and back courtyard, for those who prefer the outdoors. A casual, unfussy spot with a menu that evolves constantly and provides great value. What more can you ask for? 😉

Bonny has a beautiful bar and a good list of drinks including hand made cocktails.

The food menu is not that big. The dishes were tasty but portions are slightly small for the price.

Overall still a nice place for a drink and small bite if you're around the hip Fitzroy area.

Third time at Bonny. First time was amazing. Second time they had an off night and James, the head chef, called us back in to rectify the situation and they sure did! Back to normal. Wouldn't expect anything else from James and this little bar Fitzroy. Food was soulfully excellent and delicious, atmosphere and service was great! Favourite dishes, well from the photos below it's hard to pick but the prawn and snapper Katsu sando wins, and rivals and if not beats some of the best Katsu sandos we've had in Melbourne. Bravo James!

I found this bar on Instagram and what convinced me to visit was the happy hour specials on a Thursday afternoon. When I arrived at Bonny, it was a bit awkward because they had a sign out the front with the happy hour specials but the staff working didn't seem to know about the special happy hour deal. Eventually we sorted it out and I was able to order the happy hour deal. I think the staff were new so that's why there was a bit of confusion. Other than that though, the cocktails were pretty good. I liked that they had the Australian native flavours, it's pretty unique! I really enjoyed the Davidson Plum Spritz. We also ordered the Oysters and they were beautifully presented and tasted great!
