Dinner midweek with the wife. Veal scaloppini we both had was tasty, good vegetables and lovely sauce! Fried banana dessert was yummy. Liked the decor, airy feel, high ceilings and historic photo! Love to visit again

I had the Porterhouse steak. It was like eating the soul of a boot. Tough, chewy and was overcooked. At $45 I expected way better.
Went for a meal
Kitchen closed at 8 and I got there at 750.
Front of staff girl was very rude and clearly didn't want to be there.
Didn't need to be told that she had a long day and wasn't happy.
Hard to get good staff nowadays I suppose.

Great for arvo drinks or lunch/dinner. Nice open fires to warm you up. Friendly staff. Can't go past the Entree Scallops or Salt n Pepper Calamari, which can be as an entree or a main. The creamy garlic prawn spaghetti that is regularly on the specials board is another one of my go-to meals as they are always cooked to perfection. Best calamari eva ??. I also ?? the jugs of cocktails, especially the tropical punch ???

Great pub food. Decent sized serves. Food service excellent. Never left wondering when our next course would come.
Garlic bread is huge and filled with garlic, unlike some places. Porterhouse cooked as requested and served with good serve of vegetables. Pork schnitzel with chips and salad also great.
Affogato and creme caramel good too. Drink prices reasonable too.
Will be back next time we're near lakes.

Below average dinner. Chicken schnitzel was cold, chip serving was poor even without ordering a salad.
The chips were also dry and cold.
This has so much potential to serve good quality food. Shame

The customer service here was really awful and they do not respect or consider the customers. There was a prawns dish which said fresh prawns with sauce, now will you expect fresh prawns at a restaurant directly from the ocean? They expect people who come out to eat to be sitting there and peeling the prawns to eat.
The waitress and in house staff were rude, we had a pet and they did not allow us to sit in the outside deck area whereas another family was sitting in the same deck area with their dog. This is seriously bad customer service.

Food was okay, pretty bland. The veggies were so hard, crunchy and had no flavour. Would be nice to see some more non battered/crumbed seafood variations.
Stopped at this place for lunch on December 29th 2022 on the way to Mallacoota from Melbourne.
Even though the place is a little dated, the menu looked promising - we thought instead of going to Maccas just about a block away, we would support a local pub. So why not.

I ordered the brisket burger and my partner who's a seafood lover was sold on the special - the 'Local Fisherman's Basket', we added 2 beers with the order.

The beers were great, nice and cold. Then came the food...

The brisket burger was tiny and came with literally a handful of chips. As you can see from the photo, the steak knife was an extreme overkill if that was supposed to 'help' cutting the burger into half. ? The burger bun was acceptable, but the brisket was bland even though it was well-cooked. Chips were great though, but a couple more wouldn't hurt. The 'Local Fisherman's Basket' came on a plate? Ok, that's fine, but the presentation was extremely underwhelming for a $45 dish. The freshness of the oysters was also questionable, had one of the two and it was not pleasant. The other bits was just, meh.

Won't be back, sorry. Extremely disappointed.

**Did not stay at the hotel, we just went to the bistro. My review is only for the bistro.

We had dinner there. Problems with our scotch fillet meals being tough. Ended up eating alone! They replaced it but was still not the best. Service was exceptional but they need to replace their supplier. Had a scotch fillet in Brisbane 2 months ago and it was simply the best ever experienced, only $6 more. The wait staff were so wonderfully apologetic but management need to fix this issue of poor quality control with the steaks.

Had a nice steak lunch. Prices average, staff friendly, service good. I must remind myself not to choose a table near the door in cold weather. Recommended.
We stayed for 3 nights. We started with a bit of problem with the kettle in the room. Some previous guest(s) cooked in the kettle, rendering it dirty and rusty. But staff Jo kindly replaced it with a new one. We enjoyed our meals at its restaurant. Good food and service. All staff from motel and restaurant are friendly. Would recommend this place.

Lucky little find in Lakes Entrance. If you want a nice proper pub, this is a good one. We had a drink in the bar and ate in the bistro, staff in both areas were very friendly. This felt like a bit of a locals pub but both locals and staff seemed to like visitors. Food was basic pub fair but done well. Beer selection was good as was wine. We'll be back.

This my opinion. The food at the bistro/ restaurant is poor.
I ordered the "special" Sea Food for One. Got short changed on the number of items advertised as included with the meal. I was served 14 chips in total. Short changed a flathead tail. The scallops were the size of a $2 coin and the salad was very limited and packed into a very small bowl. I took it back to the server who i had complained to 10mins earlier about the meal who originally said he would speak to the chef. The server then indicated he would get the manager. The manageress attended and after me showing her the meal and expressing my dissatisfaction with the meal, asked if i knew the cost of sea food. See the pic of the meal and tell me if it is worth $32. I asked for my money back. The manager offered to add the missing items to the meal. I declined as the meal was now cold and adding the missing items to the meal would make no difference to the quality of the meal. The manager was asked to refund the cost of the meal. She eventually did so and instructed me to leave the hotel premises. Note: I was with my wife and 5 other family members. Note: I was very courteous to the manageress.
I was very disappointed with both the meal served and the attitude of the manageress.
I would not recommend this bistro/restaurant at all. Seems like if you make a complaint they kick you out rather than work to resolve issues.

Stopped in with friends for dinner, menu was varied with traditional pub food and a little more upmarket dishes. The prices were not cheap but reasonable for the quality of meal provided. Directly opposite the water where you can watch the fishing trawlers coming and going from your table in front of a small but open fire..A lovely way to enjoy your meal. The service was quick friendly and efficient, and the food fresh and tasty.

We spend 2 nights at the accommodation on the ground floor in December 2021. Had all the basic needs. Rooms were clean and neat. Great location as it's close to the pretty much everything that Lakes entrance has to offer. Nice and clean pool but didn't get a chance to use. However, some kids were jumping with joy. We didn't get a chance to go to the restaurant. What you see is what you get. Can get a bit loud depending how busy the place is. Overall, not bad for a budget accommodation.

We didn't stay but we went to the restaurant.
We are vegetarian. We were actually looking for a nice place to dine....while we were waiting for someone to allocate us the table, we also had a look at the menu and it only had 1 vegetarian option. Hence, we decided we would only have chips and drinks. Because we were really hungry. Just then, One of the gentleman staff came to us and we requested him if they can just serve us chips and some drinks as we don't want to eat the only vegetarian dish that was there on the menu. We had to request because the menu didn't have an option to order the chips by itself.
When we requested for this, the gentleman said, "expensive drinks?". I was like sorry what do you mean. He said no no i was just kidding.
It put me off so much that because we just wanted to eat chips , you can't judge a customer. We then decided we really can't afford this expensive attitude of the staff so we better leave. ... very bad attitude of the staff. Don't know how to treat the customers

Absolutely stunning food. Had a fish duo from the special board and my partner had seafood spaghetti. We have never experienced such high quality fresh food, all of the flavours were well balanced and matched the dish perfectly. Service from staff was nice and friendly, letting us feel welcomed. We waited no more than 11 mins for our mains. I wish I could give more stars, will recommend this experience to anyone! Outstanding meal.

A very clean and comfortable room for a reasonable price, super convenient being in the centre of town. Shops & beach in walking distance so could enjoy a few drinks and only a short walk back to my room.
Meals in the bistro were also amazing complimented by polite and friendly staff ?

We went to the restaurant and the food was very nice. The Parma and the prawn pasta were delicious. Very friendly staff. Lovely place to stop for food if you are passing through the lakes.

This place was amazing! Schnitzel and parmigiana were cooked to perfection - light and crispy, not like an old shoe. Chips were soft and fluffy, not hard. Desserts to die for - try the sticky date or brownie. Staff friendly and polite. A great experience in Lakes!

Very friendly staff and excellent food. So nice to sit outside and watch the boats go past on a sunny Autumn day. Cold beer, good food and great service. Highly recommended.
