The food was fantastic, the service was amazing and the atmosphere was great. Overall, it was a really great night spent with friends in a really relaxing atmosphere. If you haven't been here before then, you need to try City Oval Hotel. You won't be disappointed ?

The steak was cooked a bit inconsistently but was overall ok. The chips were great!

Great food. Veggie burger was fab albeit a bit pricey at $28. Staff were fantastic from the moment we arrived. Food arrived quickly too, other meals the family had were great too. Pint of guiness from the tap was welcomed. Would definitely return.

I wasn't expecting much (I'd been here several years ago) but with a new chef in the kitchen I had one of the best roast chicken dishes!! Well seasoned, nicely roasted skin, juicy chicken, with those nicely crunchy roasted areas around the wing and drumstick. I was pleasantly surprised eating this in front of the fire on a cold Ballarat day. BTW the chips were crunchy with a good amount of chicken salt. Yum

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the City Oval Hotel and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere that immediately made me feel at home.

After 2 years of wanting to stay here I finally get to stay. Check in was good everything ran smoothly. Things I liked, room was lovely an clean view gorgeous. Things I didn't like once in our room there was no written instructions about the room and everything is digital. If you are not tech savvy then you would have no idea about how the lights work or the curtains. We did have 2 complimentary waters which was nice but no water for making tea or coffee other than from the bathroom. We ordered breakfast purely to get a cuppa mainly which cost 23 dollars each for 2 pieces of dry toast and 2 poached eggs no salt or pepper to add to i, the cuppa were deli via roomservice in a takeaway cup which I felt was terrible I would have liked it served in a proper cup and saucer. We also had booked at the restaurant for dinner but the menu was very limited so we cancelled and went to the Cathedral which had a much better menu.

Food was average unfortunately I went in with high recommendations. I would eat there again as food was OK. Perhaps it was a busy night as we were walk ins.

We came as a group of 16 they were able accommodate us in a quiet area of the pub. Staff were friendly and food was bought out quickly after it was ordered. I found the food a little pricey for the quality.

We ate here for the first time in many years. The food was absolutely delicious. My husband had the Pork belly, I had the Calamari and our 5yr old had the kids steak. Absolute perfection. Thanks so much. Will definitely dine in again.

Larna and Lilly were the best bar staff I've come across in recent years. Super helpful and went out of their way to ensure I had a good night. Friendly locals and a great pub overall. Thanks again, girls.

Good food and friendly efficient service. A very pleasant evening meal. A bit pricier than other places I think. Parking was free, close and easy. Only a couple of vegetarian options. Otherwise an expansive menu. 2 for 1 dessert option was a bonus.

7 of us ordered different meals all beautiful. Staff lovely available but not hovering plates collected unobtrusive. Warm during a cold day. Would definitely return.

Very generous serves that refilled us after a day of exploring around town. While they had a sign saying they were understaffed it was pretty difficult to tell. After ordering at the bar the food was delivered in a timely manner by friendly staff. Even later as it got busier this didn't seem to effect them / food delivery times. I did order a cocktail and it took a little longer to arrive but was delicious and was worth the wait.

Cocktails could use some sprucing up but we had a great night. Staff are great, pumpkin soup was the best.

Went in here for the first time recently and I was impressed. The lady that greeted my mum and I was absolutely brillant and the food was cooked perfect!

My family went to the city oval on the 19/03/2022, I ordered the Seafood Pasta this meal was the best seafood meal I've had since moving to Victoria 10years ago, the pasta in the meal was homemade the seafood was cooked to perfection and the herbs used in it packed a lot of flavour.

My partner ordered a fish and chips and said the fish cooked superbly and was really impressed with the dressing used in the salad as it had a lot of flavour and wasn't to sweet as she's diabetic.

What really amazed us was they had a $15 100gram porterhouse on the kids menu, our 9year old daughter couldn't believe how juicy and pink her steak was, she devoured the steak before she touched her chips, which is a good sign of the quality of steak they used.

Would gladly go back again and recommend The City Oval to all my family and friends, thank you for the wonderful meals and terrific customer service.
