Food was great. Large serves. Steaks cooked to perfection. Lots of vegies with roast, fish was hot with crispy batter.

Delishous and great steak (porterhouse) and chips for lunch. Steak was overcooked but still good. Very classic roadside country Australian pub.

Service fairly friendly.
Menu choice good.
Wait times quite reasonable, around ten mins.
Chicken schnitzel was nothing flash and rather bland. No offer of accompanying sauces or gravy.
Chips along the same lines.
Garlic Bread and wedges rather good.

Fantastic country pub. We came here for fathers day lunch and it didn't disappoint! The staff are friendly and helpful. The meals were hot, fresh, and great value for money. We will definitely be back! The fish and chips, chicken parmigiana, and the spaghetti were all amazing!

Really enjoyed the food, although contrary to the usual findings, I found the meal which was very reasonably priced and very tasty, was too much for me, that's very unusual.

Unfortunately the 2 worst parmas I've ever had have been in Ballan, this one was average to say the least. One side was good despite the tasteless cheese, but the bottom wasn't crunchy at all, it was soggy. I'm no chef but it's really not hard to cook a schnitzel that's crunchy on both sides. Also I was asked twice within 2 minutes by the young staff if I'd finished my meal, the second time when the guy asked I said I'd just been asked so he just repeated himself. Won't be back in a hurry.

Group booking of 10. Meals were all delicious and extremely well priced. Staff were super friendly especially Matty, who served us at the bar, took our orders and delivered the food. His recommendations were spot on. Such a nice experience with pleasant staff for a change. Hard to come by these days. Highly recommend

Rock solid county pub (no damn pokies), had a mate of mine stay over and we went for a stroll up to the Commersh. We were both really happy with the trip. A few customers were having counteries for lunch and the food looked tip top as well (we didn't eat so going on look and smell alone). I'm not going to drink in a pub by myself but if I've got mates visiting up here in Ballan we'd definitely go back to the Commercial.

WOW. What a steak. 350gm rump cooked to perfection with 'dare I say it' eggs an chips. Eggs is not a normal thing as I noticed after. But I got a perfect steak 'rare' 2 runny eggs an chips with a awesome mushy sauce. Worth every cent. 2 mates got vege an steak an were also happy. ??'?? Staff are very friendly an polite an nothing was to much. Bit of banter with some locals over a cold beer. I will definitely be back very friendly place. Locals front bar - lots of character. Food is really tasty and an extensive dining room. Bit of a wait but understandable on a busy Saturday. Service is really good. Thoroughly recommend.

Yum eggplant parma and sticky date pudding. Chips standard. Staff, service and atmosphere were outstanding. Friday night - fun band, people dancing, locals have friendly chats to us blow ins. Highly recommended.

I love small town pub food, and the food here is a perfect example of why. Generous servings and deliciously tasty, friendly staff and a great pub bistro atmosphere. My burger was juicy and fresh and the chips were nice and crunchy.

Traditional Country Pub with a homey feel. No glitz or glam, just good, hearty honest food at a reasonable price. All serves were generous and delicious. Only criticism was that my Mexican Chicken Parma was way to thick at around 3cm and the Schnitzel to Sauce/Topping ratio was way off! Needed a lot more of the delicious topping to go with the chicken.
