Commercial Hotel, Swan Hill VIC

Workers are nice. I just went there for a drink after shopping. I put a couple of dollars in my tab account.the young lady that served me was pleasant. I moved down the bar and young man served me straight away. I bought a coke.it had lots of ice in it.i sat at a table over looking the kitchen .all the kitchen workers looked so busy. I must mention the cleanliness. Any where I went in the commercial hotel in swanhill was spotless.well done to those involved. My observations of the kitchen was so intoxicating I decided to stay for lunch.i looked at the specials board and decided on the soup with two slices of garlic bread.only $15..the coke was $4.50.so only $19.50.wow.cheaper than the fast food outlets. I recommend this place to all ages.older people, travellers are all welcome there's parking front and back. Have a loverly day.

This pub is nicely renovated and comfortable inside, the fire was welcome on a cold winter day.
Friendly helpful staff were a bonus.
But the food really lets the Commercial down. Given the very limited choice of gluten free options, don't bother going if you have Coeliac disease.
My wife's chicken (one of the very few gluten free options) was dry and tough and virtually inedible. And two thirds of the plate was salad, making the serving very small.
I had the "pie of the day" which was not a pie, but simply a bowl of stew served with two triangles of tough pastry sitting on top.

This is a recently renovated ated hotel. The range of on tap drinks is good. The place is comfortable, inside and out.
The dining room at diner time is packed. The food is wholesome and tasty. We e joyed several hours of talking, drinking and eating

I made a booking there for 19 adults 5 kids and needed 2 high chairs but the only time we could get was 7.30pm, the parents decided it was too late so changed the booking to 13 and then two more people wanted to come so changed the booking to 15. We get there and even though my name was on the paper on the table with 15 guest written on it the table was set for 13, I went to speak to someone and they made us squish the tables together so that the extra people could sit where the tables met instead of adding an extra table with two chairs. So incompetent, the good was mediocre to say the least, steak was tough, the squid was cold. So not be going there again.

Great pub.
Good food and cold beer.
Staff polite and quick service.
Massive screen in the tab area if that's your thing.
Gets quite busy so best to get your food order in so not waiting too long.
