Crown Hotel Surry Hills

$522 for a room with blood stained sheets and no hot water!.
Absolute rip-off!
Nice and quiet walking distance to Moore Park.
Would have been okay for half the price.
Definitely not worth what we paid

Cockroaches, mold, toilet did not flush, the "eco-friendly" hot water heater took 20 minutes of continuous running to get warm, air conditioner barely worked, and the sheets were clean but the bed linens had stains...so gross. This hotel is frankly disgusting. We did not read reviews beforehand because of our travel circumstances we just needed a place in the area for a couple nights.

Walked into this hotels bar on a Thursday at 1:30 pm. Me and my friend are both 24 and all we wanted was to sit in and have a meal and a cold non alcoholic drink as we were out about on our day off.
I walked in and asked the guy at the bar if they had menus to which he abruptly replied they are on the table. I went to walk to the table and again he rudely said do ye have IDs. I said I didn't have mine on me only on my phone and that we were just here to have some food. He rudely laughed in our faces and said the rules are different over here. This man was so abrupt and rude to us i wasn't even going to stay there and entertain him. I told him we would go elsewhere to which he continued laughing in our faces thinking it had hilarious. The man I believe was Australian was wearing a blue and white long sleeve shirt aged perhaps 30s.
Rude staff towards normal customers

Stopped by for a drink on our way out to find dinner. Saw the menu and loved the varied choice. NFL was on the tv so my husband was quite content to have dinner here!
I had pasta carbonara and my husband had the green thai curry. Both meals were amazing.
Atmosphere was very chilled and relaxed. Saw quite a few people come, eat and leave happy.

Great sized room at a great price. Quick check in process and even faster checkout. I didn't expect the complimentary items in the kitchen, this was a great inclusion. Though other guests didn't clean their dishes after use in the morning, and I had to wash a mug for myself.

Bathroom was a bit odd however with a suspended shower head and no divider, so you'll find it hard not to soak the entire bathroom when you shower which isn't ideal.

We stayed there as a family of 4 (3 and 5 years old), and our room was clean and spacious. It was handy to have a kitchenette in a communal area. The window in the room was double glazed and the noise from outside didn't travel at all on Saturday night in Surry hills. It was really quiet even though the downstairs was a bar. The location was perfect, there is Coles across th road, and the tram stop was approx 10 mins away.
The only downside was that the shower took 10 mins to run hot water.

Surprisingly, architectually designed beautifull hotel room. Don't be put off by the sports/tab/pokies downstairs. The hotel is entirely removed. Double doors cut out all outside sound. Very comfortable. Very good customer service. Crown St location presents great small restaurants of all types. Maybe my new Sydney stop-in go to...

First time last night, good wine, excellent food, staff very helpful, noticed I have trouble walking & suggested their lift so I could go up to the fantastic roof top bar, terrific atmosphere, why did it take me so long to discover this gem? My new local !

This pub has had a few interactions, service from the staff always 5 stars the places to drink feel a bit tight while the pokies room feels spacious.

Fabulous hotel at affordable price in Sydney. Many Indian Restaurants nearby. Private laundry just 2 doors away, and quite affordable. Slurry Hills tram station at a walking distance. Good large Rooms and super clean. All different spreads, Milk, water, juices available in the common Fridge.
One can buy a bread & breakfast can be done. Charlie is an excellent Manager. Other staff are also very good.
