Steak dinner was fabulous, Kangaroo steak was perfectly cooked, very tender and tasty. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Lounge area beautifully heated with fireplace.

Online booking system can be a let down (best to book by phone or in person). Had booked dining area using online, but told it was a full house. Front of house ended up finding a table near the bar. Food was tasty and came out reasonably quick considering a busy Friday night. The queue for food vs drinks got confused despite signage (staff could probably do a bit more to explain). staff were friendly.

Great affordable meals for our entire family. All 6 of us said how delicious the food was and the service is always great. Our regular go-to for casual meals and celebrations now. Great job DH team!

Had dinner here last night. Meal was dreadful. Three of our group had chicken Parma. Dry, overcooked barely edible. Paltry salad accompanying meal. Really need to do much better. Also , $15-17 for a glass of ordinary wine. Way over what you should pay. So disappointing

The staff were excellent particularly the woman who took our meals order. It was spot on, old styled customer service. The food was wonderful and resonantly priced. Funky venue though it wasn't busy on the Sunday night we hosted so it was incredibly relaxed. We'll be back again. Thankyou.

Beautiful hotel with lovely ambience . Candles lite throughout the bar area, add a warm fire, and it makes for a great place to visit. We didn't eat but the food looked good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Drink prices are high. $17 for a pint of Pale Ale. Yuk!

Great place to eat!
One of the few places that had live music over the weekend. We ended up dining here for both a lunch and a dinner, food for both was very nice, and very generous portions. Highly recommend the Schnitzel and the Parmas. A good selection of classic cocktails on offer, the Bloody Mary was perfect!
Get in early for a good table, the dining room is bland, but the tables around the bar are cozy and good atmosphere to spend the night.

Not really impressed. Poor customer service. No staff uniform, they're just wearing what ever they wear around the house. No table service, QR codes only, staff talked down to us when we didn't want to use QR codes. Staff didn't let us know there is a 10% surcharge on weekends, it's in fine print on the back of the menu which was difficult to read because the lighting was so dark. Appetisers came after the mains. I had to ask for a steak knife with my steak which came with a sigh. Food was average. No water brought to table. This all would be tolerable if the prices weren't on the higher end where customers should receive table service. Nice old historic pub made to look like a dingy Brunswick St hipster cafe.

Gorgeous, cosy and welcoming pub. Was a lovely haven on a rainy day. The meals were amazing value for the $20 lunch special which came with a soft drink. And the food was high quality. My salmon was perfectly cooked, schnitzel was great and so were the burgers, and fish and chips.

The decor is really cute and I love the fireplaces and cosy little rooms. New owners are working hard to turn this into a go-to spot in Daylesford. Loved our visit there. Easy to park too, and in a good location close to everything. We didn't use the accomodation but it seems really reasonably priced too.

I had some spare time early on a cold Friday night during school holidays, and so I walked into this establishment without a reservation.

I had a lovely chat with the great bar staff and ordered what was a delicious red wine as well as dinner.

There are multiple dining spaces with warm lighting and (real) candles, and fire places, and I settled in at a table right by a fireplace.

The food choice was typical fare, but my choice was an elevated-pub offering.

During my meal, I was asked by a server - authentically, if I was enjoying it, which I very much was and , so, I told him as much.

Just before my meal was served, a solo musician started playing good music.

The whole experience - the service , the vibe, and the ambiance, was great. And it was good value, too.

Excellent Daylesford pub.

The lighting was poor we weren't having a romantic dinner.
The service was OK but the meals and drinks were absolutely disgraceful. The was a 10% surcharge for drinks and meals and wasnt even a public holiday. We were there as a group and 1 person got there meal half an hours before everyone else. Very tasteless food that wasn't cooked . lamb shank did not fall off the bone as described it was like a well done steak. Pizza was like leather.
The drinks were not drinkable.

This is literally right next to service kitchen door, we kept getting hit all night ( waiters wouldn't sit us anywhere else even though free tables )

Had the steak and it was old piece of meat. Left a decent portion on the plate as it wasn't eat able.

Reviewing the bistro restaurant. Absolutely amazing restaurant and terrific service...we are vegetarians and we were surprised to see quite a few choices. The Gnocchi was very well done and the pumpkin pizza was very moist. The garlic bread was unique and we couldn't stop eating it. Portion sizes were good. The highlight was the Sticky date pudding...it's a must have if you are in Daylesford....great ambience, awesome service and yummy food...keep it up

We had lunch yesterday. The 19.99$ lunch menu is great. We had fish and chips, schnitzel with mashed potato and chicken burger and a drink each. The food took a little while to come but we were satisfied by the quantities and taste. Everything was fresh. We wanted ketchup but had to pay so we didn't get. Staff very friendly.

My partner and I were desperate for a feed on a Monday evening, and were warmly invited in by pub staff who promised a great feed.

They were open later than other venues in the area, the vibe was lovely, beer menu was good with some great local options, and as promised - the grub was great.

I'll be visiting the Daylesford Hotel again next time I'm in town.

I chose my meal from the web site the night before.
There were a duo Blues group, which were really good.
When my meal arrived, pie, sitting on mash, with a lot of peas floating in gravy, well, it arrived, the description was as the web site showed. It didn't, the pie wad sitting on mash, I literally counted 20 peas, and had to look for the gravy. No thank you !

Dinner tonight - Great atmosphere, friendly staff and a lovely girl singing. We had the Lamb roast (Sunday night) which was sensational with the best gravy. Compliments to the chef.

This was the perfect spot to spend a rainy afternoon. The front pub had a cozy atmosphere with friendly staff and top notch live music. The food was also high quality with generous portions.

Very average meal with minimal service other than delivering food. Kids meal (pasta with Napoli sauce) arrived covered in green peas (not stated on the menu). Ricotta gnocchi was cold. Fish and chips were good- at least one of us enjoyed their meal. Disappointing and went elsewhere for dessert.

Despite not having a reservation, they were able to seat us quickly on a relatively busy evening.

They only allow ordering via the online platform, which charged a credit card fee (despite only allowing electronic payments), and automatically added a tip. I personally tip fairly often, however I would never tip before I have had the meal, and I always want my tips to go to the staff themselves, not the owners via revenue from an online platform. I find it a bit cheeky how it had automatically selected a 5% tip upon checkout - it's easy to miss if you're just clicking through and not paying attention.

The biggest kicker was the 45 minute wait time after we ordered. Starters and mains all came out together so there wasn't much to do in that first hour or so.

I had read such great reviews before coming here, so I was really hoping that the food would be worth the wait. Unfortunately that was not the case. The parma was quite dry and very lean on toppings, and the gnocchi was heavy on the sauce with only 6 gnocchi pieces.

Based on my experience, I will try elsewhere when I next visit Daylesford.

Came here with a group of 3 on Friday night for an early dinner. We didn't have a reservation but the staff were friendly and found us a table without an issue. Meals came out very quickly and were delicious - we ordered the kangaroo, steak and seafood marinara. Would come back again, thank you for such a warm country town dining experience!

Our small business celebration was wonderfully hosted by Rose and her team at Daylesford Hotel. The Back Bar was an ideal intimate space for the gathering. The open fire added to the ambience. The drinks were all reasonably priced and were regularly restocked by the staff. The charcuterie was absolutely delicious and a very generous quantity. Communication was also very good throughout. Overall, a very satisfying and enjoyable experience.

Enjoyed a dinner here in the dining room (on the right as you enter) on a Friday night. Everything was really nice. The daily pie was really nice. Tried a local beer which I was happy with. Wait staff were friendly. Sounded like there was some live music happening in the public bar on the other side of the hotel.

Cosy and unpretentious. The salt and pepper calamari was delicious, as was their chicken pie. Husband and I enjoyed dining here and would come back again.

I came here with family for a meal. The menu was great, general pub feed. I ordered the steak and while it was not the best, my family loved their meals and the shared entrees and sides were fantastic.
The drinks were some of the best part, along with the great service we got. The staff were extremely kind and helpful and made a great cocktail. At times, it was a bit hard to get the servers' attention despite it being quiet, but honestly that didn't bother me much. Would recommend!

The hotel is just beautiful, with it's period internal rooms, and the quality of the food is very good.

We had the salt and pepper calamari with salad, as an entree, then my wife ordered the roast of the day, in roast lamb with roast vegetables, I had the chicken parma and it was a great serving, with chips and salad.
I highly recommend this pub, as a great place to enjoy a very nice meal, with service and atmosphere.

Bookings are essential to make sure you get a table.

Really good hamburger, and my dining companion had the ocean trout which she rated excellent. We sat outside and didn't have to go in at all, they have a barcode for each table and you just order and pay on your phone. Great if you have a dog!
