Derwent Bridge Wilderness Hotel, Derwent Bridge TAS

This place is a gem! Four of us came for dinner, and it was excellent. The lamb shanks, and the pork spare ribs were excellent. Washed down with a couple of decent pinot gris, it was quite the surprise. Took about 15 minutes in the queue to order, that is the only downside. Food came to the table in good time and the rest of the service was fine. Recommend booking. The free camping is also excellent! 4 stars out of 5.

The four of us had a great dinner at the Derwent hotel. Chicken Parm, warm beet, salad, ribs, and fish and chips were all great! Date sticky toffee was out of this world!

Hotel had just reopened (after renovations) the day before. Staff were really nice and friendly. Three of us had dinner there which was a bit of a disappointment unfortunately. One scotch fillet steak was great and the other one was terrible (fatty quality) even tho cooked to my liking. I expected better for my $45 as it only came with chips/salad. The other order was mixed up also.
Restrooms were not very clean and quite a bit of water on the floor around bases of toilets when we left at 8.30pm. Hopefully in time it will improve.

This is a great pub.
Sure it is the only one for miles and miles but it is great none the less.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff and the best Sri Lankan curry this side of Colombo. The roti bread is next level.
Have a beer and a curry. You won't regret it.

TBH, being a local I should know better than to pop into the Derwent Bridge Hotel for something to eat on the road.
1 hour after ordering we get our food, on a Wednesday in late April, so not busy. Maybe that would have been ok if the server had said when we were ordering "we've only got one chef on, it'll be at least an hour" and we then had the choice to push on, rather than sitting in the cold wondering when our food would arrive, and realising it would be as quick to drive to Queenstown.
To be fair, the food was very good, but then for the prices you'd expect it to be.
