Great vintage pub and hotel. Stayed upstairs the owner Sam is a such a nice bloke, super friendly staff and so affordable considering the perfect location. If you are on foot and trying to see the best of CBD you can't go wrong. Will be back!

August 2024. Stopped for a steak and a few beers whilst in the 'big smoke'. Lovely character to the hotel. Didn't use any of the accommodation but did eat food and drink beer. Great vibe inside the pub including cool jazz. As it was a balmy end of winter day in Sydney outside was buzzing with patrons and very pleasant sun set to watch. Steak was fine, salad lovely and chips were.. well chips! Loved my experience. You will to.

Location was perfect, super close to everything. Staff were also lovely and very accomodating. However, the rooms were not clean at all. There were cockroaches throughout the room and a fake eyelash on the bed when we arrived, which made me question whether or not they had cleaned the sheets prior to our arrival. The room comes with a shared bathroom. We found underpants on the floor the first night that were not ours. Pub down stairs really noisy till 2am.

Cozy little pub in the heart of Sydney! Was there for winter solstice, but they didn't bother to have the mulled wine available which a few of us found a little strange as the urn was on the bar and all. Ordered the pork belly pizza which was a little underwhelming and it seemed to take alot longer to arrive at our table than everyone else meal that was ordered after mine... other than that it's a nice place with a pretty good beer selection and the fireplace makes for a great atmosphere!

What a fabulous find. My sister and I loved our stay. Comfortable beds, nice linen, spotless bathrooms, great food and excellent service. Such a friendly place to stay. It really is a country pub in the heart of Sydney.

Nice pub with character. Super friendly staff and good house beers on tap. The food was decent too we had a lamb curry and a chicken schnitzel. The lamb curry was the best I've had in a while. Which was recommended to me by the female bartender would highly recommend

We sneak a couple of nights away twice a year and stay at the East Sydney Hotel because of the awesome price, perfect location and atmosphere. Close enough in any direction to access public transport, amazing little eateries & a couple of cocktails by the Harbour watching the sun go down. We've found the staff always super helpful & welcoming. Only a short stroll to the Domain & Hyde Park.

Delicious pork belly, perfect match with their frozen Pina Colada. Portion of food was a bit small to my liking though but it didn't really affect my experience.
Service was excellent with friendly and funny bartenders.
Special commendation for Leah the singer on Thursday. Really talented and wish she sings there more.

This is one of the rare pubs where you won't find a single poker machine in it. And for that, I will always be supportive and happily give it my business. They have great outdoor seating to enjoy your drink and meal. Come enjoy the Sydney sunshine here. Their menu is your typical pub grub with several vegetarian options. I've had the pleasure of enjoying their veggie burger. Good little drinking hole in a quiet part of Woolloomooloo.

The pub you've driven past but never visited. It's quite tiny and attracts the best of the best interesting locals to this venue. Pricing on beers were moderately priced, good for a pub crawl but not a long stay.

Perfectly located from the City hop-on bus, Oxfordstreet, The Domain and St James Station with a direct line to the airport.
Helpful & friendly staff, neat & clean rooms & bathrooms.

We had a small function of about 40 people here. The staff couldn't have been more accomodating and the food that came with the catering finger food platters was fantastic and beautifully presented - we chose the spring rolls, frittata, bruschetta, wings and skewers and salmon - everything was eaten because it was delicious. This pub has a lovely small pub ambience with regular jazz playing - great staff and no pokies. Highly recommended for get togethers small and large.

For my first stay in Sydney, I'm so glad I chose this hotel. Everything was terrific, from the location to the staff and overall service. I love the pub downstairs and might I add that they had terrific high quality food. You just can't go wrong staying here, I'm definitely coming back and staying here again. Thank You!

This is mainly a brew pub. The NEIPA was nice.
Friendly staff, old school cool decor. We only had drinks so I can't say anything about the food.

An iconic , old fashioned hotel quietly located not far from hustle and bustle of Sydney's CBD or Kings Cross. A well known meeting spot for friends or work mates. Serves good pub grub. Well worth a visit. Plenty of parking in nearby streets.

The hotel is on top of a country style pub. The reception is the bar. The bar staff is very helpful. The bar have love music, so it makes the rooms a bit noisy. The price is very good for the location. Although the building is old, the room has aircon and TV. If I have to stay in Sydney again I'll go back to this hotel

This place has a good feel to it. Old school decor with the place full of classic memorabilia. One or two good beer options on the pumps, with East Sydney Brewing proving a few good options. The Pale Ale and the Lager are decent. More space out the back.

My son and I visit here regularly after a museum trip. He loves the chicken schnitzel and me the halloumi fries. Oh and I also like the beer selection and old fashioned pints in handles. Been coming here for years, and it's still a grand old fashionable Aussie pub. Recommend.

Love going to local pubs to try their food so dropped in here today for lunch.
The service was awesome, very friendly, 5 stars but the food was shocking!
I ordered the fish finger burger which came with fries and what I got was 2 fried miniature fingers, half a lettuce leaf and the bun. It was terrible!

Was excited for the Sunday roast which on all signage in the pub and online says it's available 'from 12pm' only to find it didn't start till 7. Ordered standard pub grub and it was standard at best - certainly overpriced for the quality. Cute bar out front but don't go there for the food.

Happy to support a Family owned hotel. I stayed here for a few nights and it was really nice considering the price, felt as home actually. There are 3 toilets and 2 showers at the floor i was staying but never had to wait for neither of them.
The place was a bit noisy but there's nothing to do with that! They allowed me to stay a few hours behind the check out time which was really nice of them. I would come back!

Great little pub without pokies and just a short walk from the CBD. Opened in 1856 as The Shamrock Hotel it's been historically renovated. I haven't tried the food but other reviews say it's good. Just a breath of fresh air so close to the city.

Usually love this place and the food. Tonight after a busy day of work was hoping that a beer and parmy would take the edge off. Unfortunately, the parmy left a lot to be desired, half the size of their typical, barely covered by sauce and served with half cooked fries . Not sure what I was paying the extra for? My mistake in forgetting to order the gravy to make the fries taste anything less than bland as it took a solid 12 minutes to arrive while the rest of the meal got cold. Hopefully it's better next time, maybe an off day for the chef?

Great pub food. Brew their own beer which is very tasty and I'm not a beer drinker. Staff very friendly and helpful.

A new french chef has started at this wonderful watering hole and I had the best fish and chips last night....the meal was soooo good..I wish him well with the Guinness pies. I can't wait to try one but have to wait until St Patrick's day.

Love this pub. Haven't been in years and it's still just as good as it was. Possibly better as they have their own beer on tap now ?? Very friendly staff, pub menu with all the favourites (veggie nachos on the specials is ??'?). Comfortable enclosed courtyard at the back and a huge collection of original bar and liquor advertising and paraphernalia dating back to early C20th collected by the previous owners.
