Eau De Vie Melbourne, Melbourne VIC

We visit every time when in Melbourne, and on this visit we visited twice. It's important, however, to make a reservation before 10:00, especially if you want to be seated at the bar and watch how some of the drinks are made (and some are a bit of a spectacle).

The cocktails and mocktails we had were fun, diverse, and sometimes complex. We appreciated the staff explaining the drink and the process involved.

On the second occasion, we bought our friends, who had just arrived that day. The staff remembered my wife and me, and they gave us a complimentary starter, which was light and refreshing. We had the Everything Board, which was well presented and had a nice array of meat, cheeses, bread and crackers, olives, and condiments. A bit more cheese would have been appreciated.

Our cocktails again were very good. Don't expect resort-like sizes, but then again don't expect water-down drinks.

The place has a good feel to it. We were seated in a booth and got immediately excited about the evening. Unfortunately, the cocktails were a major disappointment though. They do have a vast menu, but we tried about 5 cocktails in our group, including their signatures, but none were up to the expectations we had.

Good food and good services. The duck was cooked perfectly like we requested. We ordered cocktails which were very good but didn't seem to have many cocktails options.

It definitively looks like Early Nineteen hundreds Prohibition era Bar starting from totally unassuming entry door without any signs or marking, totally hidden & secretive....Getting in comes with a bang! Place was full to the brink, loud and vibrant. GREAT VIBE !!!
Cocktails were amazingly crafted and served by really cool looking and knowledgeable staff....I cant praise them enough!!
Another thing is food, which is maybe unexpected for venue like this...short Menu but whatever we've picked was just well prepared and so full of flavors. We cant say much more than that...Go there and experience for yourself....you definitively wont be disappointed. Highly recommended!!!

Love this place! This speakeasy bar is definitely one of the SO MELBOURNE bars on my list with a hidden entry. They have an extensive cocktails list, and everything we've tried has been delicious. It's pretty loud in there and their popularity means seating can be limited and you're sharing tables with others like they're part of your group. Hard to have conversations. Last visit we also ordered food but it never arrived, so we decided to head elsewhere after one drink, checked our bill and confirmed the item wasn't charged to our bill so that's something I guess. Friendly staff.
