Awesome Pub! If your looking for old school meals this is the place! Well priced, heaps of seating. Fire place for cold nights! Pool tables, pokies, outside smoking. 2 bars.

Was initially really nice casual place to relax with good mates. Staff over time became rude and irritable. Obviously not all of the staff with some being the most lovely people I have met. The manager was quite inhospitable. Food was quite average compared to other local establishments.

I so wanted to make this my regular local hotel. Several attempts made with the restaurant and it's been very patchy . This last time was particularly bad with a blue steak closer to medium and had cooled off as had the chips, salad drowned in some dressing. The pumpkin salad was great last time but on this occasion almost tasteless with about an entire Spanish onion filling the plate. Service too on this occasion was patchy at best ( and they were not busy) . Maybe one more time , perhaps.

The food was awesome. The service was great too. And the atmosphere, top notch with bar in the middle and screens surrounding you for your favourite sports.

Food is great. A good selection of fish and various meats at a good price around $60-$70 if you enjoy a beer at $8 a pot. Arrive around 6pm for best and quick service. Not too noisy and all food Wii prepared. Roast Of The day $18 concession seniors.

This is a local and I come here often, staff are generally lovely.
Today, shorter, round, older lady with dark hair was in the general bar, firstly yelling at me when I arrived that "I'm not open" all flustered arms in the air (11am door says and it was 1150am)
So i went through to the restaurant bar without explanation from her. Found out from a lovely lady the hours had been changed yesterday.
Came back through to bar as my dog was waiting in the outdoor section... this person continues with attitude throwing outdoor furniture out the door and rolling it so much force that my dog jumped up on the seat with me and started shaking, then threw a metal cigarette bin down with a loud crash. Awful childish behaviour.
I then went in to get another drink 30min later.. she didn't acknowledge my presence at the bar just went about washing things, walked right past me, turned her back and tied her hair... then finally asked what I wanted.
Threw an almost empty bottle from fridge to bench, still all the time a surly look on her face, no words just put her hand out for my phone to pay... Made me feel so awkward.
I don't care what kind of day you're having do not be disrespectful and downright rude to people - whether they are customers or not. Show some manners and be a decent human.

Came here for dinner at around 6:30pm on a public holiday. Nice classic pub but was an ok experience. Average food at best. QR code ordering system. Ordered 2 x porterhouse steaks ($41 each) and added calamari to the side of one. Asked for medium rare but came out medium and somewhat dry. Tough and chewy steaks. Mushroom gravy was below average and tastes like its from a jar. These are really the quality of $20 pub steaks (not $41).
Was also told after there was no calamari so had to swap for something else.
Ordered drinks via the QR menu.
Waiter then came over later and said they were out of the whisky I ordered but still brought out the dry and glass of ice and left it on the table. Returned with a JD and coke. Probably won't come back again.

Good atmosphere and mostly okay food. Good place for families, young or older people to come to. Also Seniors food menu
I had a couple of disappointing meals here.
They had a Surf and Turf special for $30. Thin low end steak and a few little shrimp on top.
Also one day we came in early when the kitchen just opened at 11:30 am for lunch. Ordered the roast of the day which was Lamb. When it was served the meet must have been cooked on a pan , heated up from day before. It was a bit fried and tough.
Wings are good though. Wick Tower was good, but they took it off the menu

It was okay. I liked the atmosphere and service was good but the meals were a little disappointing. The parmigiana's were nice; especially loved the bacon and avocado one. However, the chips were terrible and the salad was lack lustre. I probably wouldn't go back again ?????

Very nice old building. I have only come here for drinks and they are reasonably priced and the service is friendly

I'm giving this hotel a 4 though I think it's more a 3.75
As a group of 5 we attended on a Tuesday evening and had an enjoyable time
We sat in a semi enclosed booth which blocked the noise of a nearby 10+ table
Wine and beer choices were good. The food was satisfying without being spectacular and the cost was reasonable.
Staff were super friendly and efficient

Been my go to bistro and pub for 6 years. Had a really tasty seniors' prawn curry tonight. I could tell by the colours and texture of the sauce that the taste would be good and wasn't disappointed (still got the taste in my mouth an hour later!). I can't agree with the post from 4 months back about the food not being great. I have found the meals better in the last 6 months or so and assumed there must be a new chef (not that the food was bad prior to then). The pub and bistro have a real low key ambience with friendly and hard working staff and none of the pretentiousness or expense you get with other pubs in the area. New menu out this week with barely a movement in price. This place is an oasis of down to earth hospitality and custom. Always enjoy a meal here once a week or fortnight. Great for seniors who aren't catered for elsewhere, but also a hangout for tradies and families. Credit to management for the influence exercised over the running of the place and for keeping a lid on prices when so many other venues have increased prices by up to 25%.

We have been coming here for 7 years and absolutely love this place. The staff are always so friendly. The atmosphere is cosy and the food is delish! Grab yourself a Lamb shank - you'll thank me later!

Elsternwick Hotel is a ok Pub, it has a lot of history and some beautiful architecture inside, the staff are friendly and pour a very nice ice cold beer, however the food isn't very nice.. its not that the food is bad or anything, it's just that it's basic as possible, the Tomato base on the Chicken Parmigiana tastes like its straight out of a can, The Stockmans Pie is literally Beef and Gravy, there was literally no other ingredients to be seen.. would I go back for a counter meal or to have dinner in the Bistro?
Honestly, I probably wouldn't considering there are so many good Pubs around with great food, I Recommend having a beer at the Elsternwick Hotel 🍻

Elsternwick Hotel is a regular casual night out for our family, both in the bistro and in the public/sports bar if there's a game of footy or trivia on, plus the odd game of pool. Food is very good and well priced, favourites stay on the menu and new/special meal options give good options for variety.

Staff are always friendly and treat us as regulars throughout the venue, Patrons in the Sports bar have their fun but are always respectful of our family. We often come with friends and family, and have never been disappointed - with the food or the friendly service.

Great venue for a casual night out that's quiet enough for table conversation, with good music in the background. Give it a go!

My mum and I had a lovely dinner at this place. The conversation, in particular, was excellent. The food was also good. As I write this review, a miscellaneous guitar rock solo is playing in the background and a guy is coughing. Come here for great conversation.

This place is so good you can get as maggoted as you like and they won't kick you out until you think glassing someone is the best option.
By this stage, even the food tastes good and the poker machines seem like a great investment strategy.

Wonderful ambience for a pub dinner, staff are always friendly, dining area is comfortable and well spaced out. Very accommodating to the Vegan in our group!

The Elsternwick is a halfway point for my family to meet during these latest restrictions. We had a wonderful time getting to catch up, the food was fresh and delicious and the staff welcoming. We felt extremely safe in the knowledge that we checked in, were adequately spaced with other diners and saw the staff cleaning throughout. What must be very trying times for any business and these limited numbers, the staff are to be commended on doing a stand up job.

Had such a good time on our visit here about a week ago. The staff were really lovely and friendly and happy to have a chat at the bar when they could. Such a relaxed atmosphere to have a drink at the bar. The food looked nice, ill have to come back to try it! Thanks guys, keep up the good work!

Big place with Many nice Lil spots. Pokies and Happy hour. The food is quite good, but not the best selection.

We have a weekly lunch catch up at The Elsternwick, the seniors meals are great value with good portion sizes. The girls are always very accommodating in helping us check in.

Their lunch time seniors deal is fantastic... $9.95 for a Sirloin steak chips and salad.$9.95 for chicken schnitzel (parmigina)Tasty and great value. Their Hamburgers are excellent as well

Fantastic venue, and friendly staff. Parma tasted great but was a bit lacking in size for the price. Great sports bar area fitted with pool tables and Canadian club on tap. Definitely the new local.
