We had a blast staying two nights at the Bigga Federal Hotel. We arrived during a storm and all the power was out, but that didn't faze the owner, Denise, who cooked meals on a gas barbie and kept the beers and wine cold.
The food and drinks were both generous and cheap compared to city prices. Denise also cooks a mean hamburger and full breakfast. The rooms were what you'd expect from an old hotel, but the bathroom had been refurbished and everything was clean and comfortable. For $60 a night, you'd have to be mean to complain.
The Bigga locals proved to be a great and diverse bunch of people who all know each other and help each other out. You couldn't get a more welcoming crowd. We went swimming in the local dam, had home made cakes at the cafe over the road and were invited out to see shearing at a local property.
A very relaxing weekend at a very decent price.
One warning though, if Denise's dog, Bonny, takes a liking to you, you'll be playing catch with her all day!
