The owner is a beautiful person who has so much knowledge of the area and the beer is cold and frothy after a big day on the downhill bike trails! Do yourself a favour and go visit Virginia for a coldie! There are only 26 locals left in this town from over 200 since the biking craze started! Please support this pub as others want to shut it! Will be back x 😍

Small historical front bar and greeted by the lovely publican Virginia who was keen for a chat. Lots of local knowledge and good insight into history of Derby. Great range of drinks and she even let us feed her lamb from the bottle

Wonderfully quirky front bar, with an equally quirky owner Virginia who is both a staunch defender of and fount of knowledge on the local history. Probably the last fully local business in town, she's doing it her way despite the calls for modernisation. Admire that and enjoy the history lesson. Popular with the old-timer local farmers. Amazing seamstress too.

Went in for some takeaway alcohol and was very happy. The publican was lovely and keen for a chat. Prices were good for a small town as well.

I stumbled upon this place by chance.
I ripped my heart rate monitor and needed it fixed.
The team at the general store told me that Virginia (the owner of the Federal Cavern) is a great seamstress!
Took it in, got it AMAZINGLY mended and all in a couple of hours!
If you rip a jersey shredding in Derby get it fixed up!
