Good atmosphere, lovely food and easy to talk to staff. It was quite hot in the gorgeous plant room but it was an extremely hot day and at least they had fans. Highly recommend booking prior as it gets busy and tables are limited. Great daily deals too.

I want to give a huge shout out to Sarah and the Forrester's team for an amazing night celebrating my daughters 21st birthday party. We had a big party 'Upstairs' and the space was just perfect for her 21st. Sarah was so helpful setting up the event with us from the initial booking through the event planning and on the actual day - receiving in decorations, deliveries, set up the space. Everything was easy! We all had a brilliant time - couldn't have asked for more. Excellent venue for a fun celebration. Thanks so much!!!

2/5 for Forrester's, certainly worth a visit but heed our disappointments...

? Enjoyed the location, service, decor and vibe. Love the wall art with the Cockatoo and Ibis getting a round of drinks

? Good wings and garlic bread

? Dog-friendly, loved all the Polaroids on the wall!

? Great quiz night host and setup

? Live music was really loud, very difficult to have a conversation with friends (but then again, you can always move rooms!)

? Disappointing experience with the Yorkie which we were so excited to try. It's so close to Christmas, but they were out of turkey. Nor did they have beef or pork (???) - only ham. We went for it anyway, but the meat quality was average-verging-on-poor. The parsnips were tough and had splintery skin that got stuck in my teeth. The Yorkie's edges were not crispy and fluffy, despite not having touched the gravy. No roast potatoes in there which were mentioned in the menu. We did enjoy the gravy, mash and peas however.

? Lack of good (or even many) dessert options
Good atmosphere, lovely food and easy to talk to staff. It was quite hot in the gorgeous plant room but it was an extremely hot day and at least they had fans. Highly recommend booking prior as it gets busy and tables are limited.

Great daily deals too.

Nice chill spot for Sunday roast. Booked a table for 4. Food was decent but the last time we had Sunday roast in London we were a bit hungover so hard to make an objective comparison. Overall, atmosphere was pleasant and food was good on this day. Would come again to try the other dishes

We've been hunting for the best Sunday Roast in Sydney across various pubs and RSLs and this is by far the best! Called the "Big Yorkie", it's a huge plate with the roast meat of the day (today it was pork with crackling), potatoes, carrots, peas and abundance of gravy. I love that they didn't go shy on the gravy! $35 is not cheap but the portion is so big and tasted so good it was definitely worth it. We also ordered the roast chicken which was tasty and not dry. The $38 steak was small and perhaps more on the average side. Booking in advance is recommended especially if you don't want to sit on a stool table.

Been itching to try the giant Yorkie and it did not disappoint. It was the perfect texture not dry and very light. Super moreish. The gravy was on point and the lamb was so soft and tender. Highly reccomend!!! Definitely be back soon ??

Best Sunday roast I've had in ages. The Yorkie is the way to go!. Book or get there early as it gets busy on a weekend!

The food is delicious, but it tends to be served a bit cold. However, the staff is friendly, the live music is enjoyable, and there's ample space in the venue.

The best roast in Sydney! I hosted a Christmas In July Function for 24 and it was fantastic! Turkey roast, sticky toffee pudding, Christmas crackers and they even put on Christmas music for us! A huge thank you to Sarah for helping me to plan my function, she was so helpful, accommodating and easy to get in touch with. On the day Holly and Rachel were fantastic and helped to make sure everything ran smoothly for our event. Thanks so much!!

The Sunday roast was good. The Yorkshire pudding really was that big.
The pork was really nice but it was only the one piece however the roast vegetables and lashings of gravy left no room for much else.
Yes it was worthy it.
Three and a half plates cleaned.

Nice spot for lunch. Good food and beautiful interior. The chicken schnitzel $25 was good but the fish pie $28 was just ok as the portion seemed small with too much filo pastry and not much seafood or veg.

Sensational venue, dog friendly - indoors and outside, great selection of drinks with awesome options of food. What more can one ask for!!? Heaven on Earth.

This place is amazing with super friendly staff all around. My new favourite ?

House of Palms hosted a flower crown making workshop at the Forrester's for a hen's party of 16 people and the venue was perfect.
The room reserved for the function was separate but still has a great atmosphere. The decor was *chefs kiss* and the staff were accommodating and lovely.
Would highly recommend if you are in search of a function space for a smallish crowd.

Decent place and plenty of space for larger groups. The food taste fine, but would appreciate a slightly larger chicken for the price. At least it's freshly cooked, the buns are soft and the chicken is crispy. Chips are crispy as well.

Really enjoyed the cocktails. The lamb skewers and eggplant salad were delicious. We ordered fish and chips from the feast section of the menu and the serving size wouldn't even feed a child. Wouldn't recommend ordering this dish. When we spoke to the staff they were very pleasant and gave us some additional chips.

Excellent pub food at the heart of Surry Hills! Been there for lunch twice so far - had their Spicy Chicken Burger and Tuesday Chook (special) - both times super impressed by the chicken at the perfect level of juiciness and the freshest of chips!

Looking forward to dining there again!

Pretty classy atmosphere for a pub in the heart of Surry Hills. I had the cheeseburger and it was so good - I'd say probably top 3 burgers I've ever had. The sauce was so delicious and meat was well seasoned and had a good thickness. The patty was also quite light and fresh.

I had a steak cooked medium, chips and salad. Tasted divine!! Also had a cold beer and a glass of red wine. Excellent! Outstanding customer service! 5 stars all around. Keep up the good work!!!
Came here around 6pm for early dinner.
Monday is $10 steak day.
I would say 200 gram ( more or less ) rump cut steak, cook to your liking, with some green and chips.
$3 for extra peppercorn or gravy sauce.
Unfortunately my chips are cold, and my pepper sauce way to runny to be call sauce.
There are no viscosity, and lack of punch/heat from pepper it self.
For the steak it self, I can't complaint! Good enough for the price that I'm paying.
Happy Hour also happening, charging $5 for schooner of furphy pale ale.

Walked past the place and popped in for a quick bite and a drink.

Ended up having a few share plates and was not disappointed! Had the prawns, beef cheek empanadas, chicken wings and tacos. All was fresh and very very tasty. Great service too!

Would happily recommend for a drink and food if in the area

Staff are the best part. They know their clients and locals. Great beer selection and food is way better then pub should have. Highly worth it. Great for events and phenomenal specials. Shout out to Cam for being a proper legend.

Both my beer and wife's sparkling were flat. We were outta there. Beer was a Resch's, and the wine was house sparkling.

Love the renovation. Gives the place a fresh and vibrant new look and feel. Can 100% recommend the fish sandwich. So delicious!
