Fortune of War - Sydney's Oldest Pub - Pub in The Rocks New South Wales

Came at the start of lunch hour two days before Christmas. Staff were so friendly and I watched from a bar stool as they worked well together and managed the flow of customers over lunch. Great selection of beers and took time to pour each pint with respect. Fish & Chips were just perfect and very flaky.

Didn't eat food but definitely enjoyed a few beers and music from a damn good guitarist. (Should have caught his name.)

Sydney's oldest pub. Yeah, it's in a touristy part of town but it has the look and vibe of a typical neighborhood bar.

Roughly 8 great brews on tap, including pale ales (really popular in Australia it seems) lagers, pilsners, and Guinness.

Nice patrons and a great, knowledgeable bar staff.

This was our first time visiting the pub and we ended up going twice over the weekend while we had friends here from Brisbane. Most of our food was amazing, big servings and delicious. The burgers, steak sandwich and chicken parm are stand outs. Don't bother ordering a salad, I paid $23 for a salad which was tiny and basically just greens. Get the vegetarian burger instead, it's delicious. The fries are so good! The staff are attentive but not friendly. The indoor seating has a dull atmosphere but sitting outside is great and lively.

Great place for dinner, live music, great service. The food is fabulous the best garlic bread ever. We had the chicken burrito bowl and the gnocchi, both were large served and came out quickly. Staff were friendly and efficient. Highly recommend going here.

This revamped "Fortune of War" is amazing. I was surprised that they have a private room next door to the main restaurant. Love the decor inside.
Service was good. I had the chicken burrito bowl - took a little longer to arrive but the other dishes, my friends said it was good and reasonably priced.
They don't do split bills so best to order via the QR code.
Definitely a great place for lunch and dinner.
