The room we stayed in was very clean and well maintained - with a great view of the water and comfortable beds.
Free bottles of water are provided, as the water quality in Port Arthur region is not great. The staff are friendly and welcoming.
It is in a good location, being a 5-10 min drive to Port Arthur historic site and other sightseeing spots.

Lovely views from waterside rooms but unfortunately maintenance hasn't been a priority for what appears to be, quite some time. Water damage in the walls and the sound of water dripping all night in the walls. Faulty plumbing and room not cleaned as you would expect. Disappointing given it's obviously very popular and would be getting a good return.

The room was good, we stayed in a self-contained apartment, what we didn't like was it was not well appointed in the kitchen, no tea towel, 1 bin liner, 1 very small pot to cook in and a hotplate that took forever to heat up. Not very self-contained. The shower had great water pressure and was hot.

The only good thing to say about this hotel is the staff member who started 3 weeks ago, very friendly and helped us as much as he could, and the location is beautiful, but apart from that very disappointing.
The room was dirty and obviously not cleaned very often as we had cobwebs everywhere, even in the cupboards.
The bathroom was mouldy with someone's toothbrush left behind, the water is treated and unsafe to drink so wouldn't risk washing in it either.
The kitchenette was very dirty and also housing an ants nest, windows were absolutely filthy which ruined the lake views.
This place has potential but at the present very very unloved and unhygienic which is worrying when you have a baby with you.
Will not be visiting again and will be demanding a refund.

Had dinner here recently - it was sensational! Steak, sticky date pudding and a glass of wine... all the perfect way to end the day of taking in the sights of Port Arthur. Staff were lovely and the venue was a pretty cool theme, definitely memorable and charming!
Would love to come back!

Great hotel for the price, the rooms are a little bit old but still great. Great staff, highly recommend water view rooms. The big windows and the views are absolutely amazing. This hotel was great to stay and check out the weather for the cape hauy walk as you can make out the weather from the hotel rooms

Rooms have a fantastic view to a pond. Sunrise is a pretty view from the window. Rooms sizes are great - very spacious. Its a convenient hotel to the Port Arthur Historic site. However, rooms are dated and a reno can help to improve it. Cleanliness needs to be improved. Being on the ground floor, we were told we could park in front of the room, but it's actually free parking for all, whether u r at the ground floor or upper floor rooms. One guest thought she had the right to the parking lot in front of her room and told us to move. We explained 'our parking lot' was taken by another car, but she demanded we move. A very unpleasant incident though. We moved, so as not to make a scene like she did.

Nice rooms though the rooms were a little tired. The door to the room doesn't keep the cold air out. Limited furnishings. Nice view of the lake. Bed was comfortable.

Can't vote on rooms cause we stayed for dinner only. Service from staff was great, comfortable for an old place, fire was great. The steak was delicious, salad was delicious too.... Worth stopping by to a dinner... next time will we stay and enjoy..

Very close to Port Arthur. We ate but didn't stay here so I can't comment on the rooms. The hotel has a good ambience and was very busy in the restaurant. We ordered at the bar and had a wait for our food but when it arrived it was well worth the wait. I can recommend the classic chicken parmi. It is a bit on the expensive side at $28 but delicious. They have some loaded options too. The food being bought out to the other tables looked really good too. Parking was a bit thin as the restaurant was really busy. We has to make our own spot in the grass near the cabins.

Staff were incredibly helpful. Supplied us with more water bottles etc for the room. Meal was lovely, pub has a quirky and relaxing feel. A special mention to Tamika who welcomed us when we arrived early for check in and also ensured our bags were taken to our room. Tamika went out of her way for my mum who is 73 and myself as it was a hot day and we were without a car to get anywhere. I've read many of the reviews and whilst people point out it was old and outdated, and I agree it needs some TLC however the grounds and facilities have a lot of potential and I can only imagine the price will increase greatly once it has an overhaul. We found our room clean, safe and comfortable for our needs for the night and cannot find any fault when comparing the price with the large airy rooms. The full size windows looking out over the water and surrounds were beautiful. The location is good and priced well.

Nice place, and nice people, just extremely dilapidated. All has been said before, although the moving bed was entertaining. Plenty of bottles of water for drinking as the tap water is undrinkable. We upgraded after seeing the $145 room we initially rented. Spent another $100 and took a two bedroom villa. Spacious, but beaten by life. All facilities there in the villa.

The accommodation itself was a cute old English style as shown in the pictures. The hosts were very helpful with our needs. The down side that we faced was that the accommodation was renovating its bar and restaurant, which was a bit disheartening as travelling in a large group this was the main appealing convenient feature for our stay. Another down side was the pillows and beds were extremely uncomfortable and could probably be renewed. Otherwise the location was great and price accurate.

We were really disappointed with our stay here. There were not a lot of other options available as we were only looking for 1 night stay but we wouldn't come back. The hotel is all self check-in so there is no face contact with any staff but they are available by phone if needed.
The rooms were not overly clean. There were cobwebs and dead spiders in the room and bed. The water is untreated and yellow in colour - quite off putting when washing hands/flushing toilet. There is bottle water provided for guest use in the room.
There was a bit of rain over night which resulted in a full power outage in the morning. This meant we couldn't use any of the facilities. The laundry machines took our money and wouldn't work due to the power outage and we couldn't get our money back as they are privately owned machines.
We could hear the people in the room next door to us talking all night - they weren't talking loudly there is just no privacy and the walls are thin.
The bed is on wheels and moves around so much, which is really annoying.
We wouldn't stay here again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless you're desperate.

Great location, reasonably priced, well equipped, conformable beds and minutes from Port Arthur. No bar or bottleshop or restaurant while renovations are happening but the cabins are most comfortable with friendly cleaning service. Good size fridge, microwave, bathroom, comfy 2 seater and dining table with 2 chairs. We extended stay from 1 to 2 nights.

We have stayed here before and thoroughly enjoyed it, currently being renovated through out.
Can't wait to see the finished product. To quote Arno we'll be back.

We booked this place for our main Saturday night during our Tasmanian trip when we arrived at the hotel a sign on the front said the pub, bottleshop and restaurant was closed for renovations and we had not been notified of the closure. We actually booked it for the pub as it looked very nice hopefully we can find somewhere else on short notice.
They should have put it on their website, I just checked again and it still doesn't mention anything that it's under renovation.

Great service! The two gentlemen who served us for the night were very nice and helpful. The gentlemen at the bar served us our entree outside even though we had a table inside, and knew what beer to pour each time i went up. The beer was cheap and cold! The food was a tad pricey but we are quite far out of the city, so to be expected. The food was nice and the waiter was super friendly. The pub itself was quite interesting architecturally. Overall a good experience. Nothing crazy, just a nice honest pub!

Its reminiscent of a genuine English Tudor pub both in and out. Atmosphere is cosy. Our meals were very tasty with generous portions and cooked to perfection. Service was very quick and the chef and staff were extremely obliging and friendly. 5 of us all enjoyed our meals and our evening.
Recommended to us both by social media and word of of mouth. Lived up to its Good reviews.
