Got a $56 steak which was not worth the price. Wanted it rare and it was well done which is not close to being cooked right. Not cooked well, no caramalisation. only 2 pieces of potatoes and 3 broccoli, which does not help me get my vegetable intake

Don't bring your vehicle, as it was quite difficult to find parking.
However, a big plus is that the GG is directly opposite Sydenham Station.
Food was reasonably priced, decent sized portions & delicious.
Staff were also extremely attentive & friendly. A pleasant experience.

First time coming here and the menu had a good range of choices. We opted for Pizza which was amazing. Tasted really nice and cooked to perfection. The chips tasted good with a nice garlic dip.

Good range of ales, beer and cider.

I heard my neighbour talking about going to General Gordon Hotel for lunch. I drove pass the hotel I thought: that's an old building.
Today, I thought let go to have a look.
Inside the old building, it's very nice dinning place and the bar.
Special lunch is available on weekdays.
We signed up for membership and got free beer. That's very nice.
We ordered special lunch with chicken snitchel and beef Wellington pasta. The pasta was very nice. Chicken too.
Will come back again soon.

Wow this is an amazing Reno of a pub!! The attention to detail in the rooms is more 5 star boutique hotel than pub. We really enjoyed our stay. The pub downstairs is reminiscent of an upmarket London gastropub. We loved the location and access to Marrickville, the airport and the city by train. Would highly recommend.

Always love coming here for a drink. Definitely a place to come for the food and drinks. Across the road from the station which is convenient and also easy getting an Uber. Family friendly as well. Also fabulous on ANZAC day.

Dined at the bistro with 50 of my first best friends literally! The food is excellent from vegan to gnocchi, lamb backstrap and chicken. Everyone at the farewell pronounced their meals excellent. Maybe we should keep this gem a secret. Great waitstaff considering the large party. Food was fresh, hot and well prepared. Thank you to Ang for organising, it was a great send off.

Stayed at the General Gordon on the weekend. It was fantastic. Food was great. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Rooms were lovely and clean. Great location with the railway across the road. Planes going overhead but you didn't hear them in your room. Definitely staying there again.

We met family there for lunch and the staff were extremely welcoming. The menu gave us plenty of options catering for all with lots of vegan choices. Meals were delicious and substantial. We'll definitely be back.

The General Gordon Hotel has become one of my favorite places to have dinner with friends. Following a complete reconstruction of the building, the pleasant decor, lighting, music, and atmosphere have completely transformed the place. It's great to see families enjoying dinner and friends gathering for drinks.

During our visit, we ordered the Garlic Prawns Fettuccini and a delightful ricotta gnocchi with browned butter. The dishes were not only delicious but also affordable. I highly recommend this place. The menu offers a great variety of food and drinks to suit different preferences. It's truly a gem worth trying.

I don't think I've ever had a bad or mediocre meal here. I'm local and eat here quite often. The specials are regularly changed to seasonal options. Very good standard of pub food and good service. Tuesday night pub quiz is good fun too.

We went there for a friend's bday dinner. Good food. Nice & friendly staff. Kid friendly. Food actually arrived pretty fast after ordering. Good selection of cocktails & on tap drinks. Would go again.

Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The food at the bistro is good. We often stop there after work for a couple of beers and a bowl of chips. Their pepper gravy is to die for.

I actually really like the venue and the family space with good local beers but .... I find this place really inconsistent with the delivery of food sometimes good sometimes bad.... Sometimes it's hot sometimes cold... And don't rate the pizzas much... Bland and under seasoned.
And every time I have ordered food here there has been something wrong on our table.... You can only take a few free drinks over time as compensation.... And give it so many chances before you think .... Yeah na .... There are much better places around the inner West.

The head chef and staff were so accomodating with the menu the day was a success thanks to the wonderful service we received. Everyone loved the food and variety that was offered.

Farewell dinner for our overseas visitors and it was a great choice. The food was delicious and service was prompt. Would definitely come back to try more of the menu. It was also good to have vegan options as we had a few in our group.

The atmosphere is very different from the last time I ate here, which is before the renovations were completed. It's much nicer, more open, modern and cleaner. The menu offers a good range for modern dietary needs with more vegan/vegetarian options than the traditional pub. The food was alright and the service friendly.

We have been coming for over a year now and the food is amazing. You can tell the chef and her team are passionate about what they do. I think I've tried everything on the menu and have enjoyed absolutely every dish. Look out for the chefs specials often changing with new and exciting dishes. If you're looking for good quality food and excellent service I highly recommend.

Our favourite family friendly pub! The food is superb and the drinks are spectacular. The lay out is modern, new yet still super comfortable. It's our pick whenever we want to have a nice, affordable dinner/drinks out with the fam as well as friends or work colleagues. Suits all occasions.

We've totally fallen in love with the General Gordon. Some of the best and most interesting pub food in the area. The menu has lots of options to cater to diverse tastes and dietary requirements.
The layout and design of the dining area(s) is brilliant, and the service is friendly and efficient.

The location is very convenient, next to the Sydenham station. I like the decoration design style very much, it makes people relax and is also very friendly to dogs?. The way of ordering is to order at the counter by yourself. The food is very delicious and the wine is also good. Love it

Amazing service and the food was the best. Pork belly was outstanding. Atmosphere here is great, we came down from Brisbane and thoroughly enjoyed our night out with family and friends! This venue made the birthday celebrations perfect!

Went for an early dinner before a show. Really nice renovation.Good range of menu. I had a rump steak which was a reasonable price. It was delicious. Staff very friendly and know what they are doing. I will definately return and would recommend.

Place looks fantastic, great layout!

The chef's special, gnocchi w/roasted pumpkin and crispy sage sauce ? also had the peach and fig salad.. these two combinations really complemented each other.

Great food at reasonable Inner West prices. The portions are large and well presented. The kids meals (with an ice cream) are excellent value for money - our kids like the pizza (they think the kids burger is a bit small). The staff are friendly and very helpful. We will definitely come back to try other dishes! Highly recommend!

What a discovery! I did not know you could get such delicious food at a pub. Great menu with lots of options, vegetarian too and the best thing is the quantity and quality both are great. you get full! prices are not to bad.
Thr pub is huge with lots of tables and is not too noisy. Definitely a must try and I'll be going back soon.

Food has been disappointing the last 3 times I've come here. A lovely place and friendly staff but the steak, the calamari and scallop entree (absolutely tiny) and the prawn pizza this evening, very disappointing.
Dry and not much flavour.
The steak, really tough and for $30, unacceptably so.
Standard seems to have dropped since before lockdown.
The garlic bread is wonderful but not enough to come back.

Renovated and looking amazing. The food was incredible. The lamb shanks were ??? . When I was there it was happy hour so the beers were ridiculously priced... maybe $5 a schooner!! Wow. Definitely will return.

Great all round bar. Clean, stylish, and friendly and beautiful souls for staff. With a section for families and one for the classic style pub dweller and after work tradie, it suits everyone with perfect synergy.

Can't say a bad word about it, good Aussie pub but lacking in its own unique soul that many of the Irish Pubs perfect. (Don't know how else to describe it, one can sense the soul in a pub. Not a major issue however)

Had a mid week evening meal here since its renovations have been finished. Food was really good and a pretty good menu for selection. Decore is inviting and warm and the surroundings were comfortable. Place has a very relaxed atmosphere and wasn't crowded. Bistro area is both inside and outside all weather proof. Beer and wine on tap. Will definitely return here.

The flavours were so fresh and amazing best risotto I have ever tasted and the garlic prawn linguine was spot on??'? staff are so hospitable and friendly but 1/2 a star off because there was no fresh black cracked (only satchel) and the other half a star off is because it is not for someone on a tight budget. The atmosphere was great and we definitely walked away Happy ???-

Great to see this place back up and running. Very modern decor inside which surprised me. The food we had was good and generously portioned. Beer selection is a bit light on considering the vast array of microbreweries on their door step. A bit of a "family friendly" vibe going on with kids running amok on a Saturday night, but it's great for the neighbourhood to have more options ? it's a good place to meet people as super close to the train ??'??

This place looks 1000x better than before. Kinda glad it got burnt down! Renovations look great! So open, airy, spacious, kid friendly and fabulous vibes and good atmosphere. The planes flying above can be a bit loud but you get used to it!
However the food was average. Ordered the ricotta gnocchi- gnocchi was long and skinny and fried. Fried crispy on the outside gnocchi ??! And not many pumpkin pieces l. The pumpkin pur�e smeared on the plate was delicious though and I wish there was more of it. There wasn't much flavour to the rest of the meal, quite dry too. And the Caesar salad was nothing special- large pieces of bacon with huge chunks of cos lettuce. The anchovies gave it some flavour. Bit disappointed but will be back to try something else.
