General Gordon Hotel - Pub in Sydenham New South Wales

My favorite newly discovered pub thanks to the Sydneham metro and Marrickville station temporarily closed. Love the 10% members discount which is nothing to sneeze at. Best of all the search is over for the best ceasar salad in town.

Had a great three night stay there, room is clean and quiet. We were worried that noise from the pub below would make it tough to sleep, but am glad to report that the sound deadening between floors was excellent and we had no trouble at all. The room had all the amenity you need and the staff were lovely.

Fun to sit on the balcony with a quiet drink and watch the planes go over head.

Good and generously portioned food and drinks conveniently right downstairs too!

Great local pub. The "beer garden" (not really a garden per se but nice outdoor vibes with fresh air) is a great place for family dinner.

Great food. Annoying that you need to sign up as a (free) member to enjoy "discounts" off all food and drink. But the free welcome drink and birthday voucher are a small perk.

Hubby enjoyed his chicken schnitzel and I adored the pumpkin & goats cheese ravioli (the second time I've had this- great both times. Our 2yo had the grilled chicken & vegetables. All beautifully presented and came out quickly (though we were eating at the classic family timeslot of 5.30PM).

A few good beers incl Grifter but not a huge choice of craft beer if that's your thing. (It's ours - lucky the food and vibe is good)

Right next to Sydenham station so convenient location too. Just wish it was closer to home! Will visit again. Parking can be a pain though. (And watch out for parking inspectors)

The loud airplanes occasionally flying over just adds to its charm. Dogs welcome.

Only there for lunches. Bright and lively watering hole and quit reasonable pub food. Air traffic every few minutes is tolerable as it has adequate sound deadening even in the "beer garden". The pokies are hidden away.

Stayed for the long weekend to catch up with friends. Already familiar with the great bar bistro and fab location so booked the room with the balcony., was very impressed. Spacious , all in-room facilities provided, large bathroom, super clean and very comfy bed. Check in and out was a breeze and easy to find off street parking. Couldn't hear a smothering of planes or trains with the balcony door close. I'll definitely be staying again. The staff were so lovely.
