General Roberts Hotel

Had another great meal at the General Roberts Hotel, this time for lunch yesterday [Sunday].

Good service, lovely meal, in a lovely environment, what more can one ask for.

As a bonus, they take preparing meals for a Coeliac seriously as well, which is great.

We had a fantastic steak, chips and salad and delicious creamy garlic prawns. The old style chocolate milkshakes were the best we have had anywhere! Followed by yummy apple crumble and vanilla ice cream. The staff were very friendly. Great atmosphere.

Hubby and I popped in for a quick meal on Tuesday night, the service was good as was the meal sizes. Hubby had the lamb burger on the specials board and he enjoyed it saying it was tasty, the chips were great. I had the grilled salmon from the menu, the fish was a fine, however the creamy mash potato was horrible, it was the packet mash, not real potato.
We will be going back the the other pub in Regent St New Lambton where the meals are real food.

We had lunch at the General Roberts and it was great. Looks like its had a fantastic make-over. A big, varied menu with something for everyone. Delicious food and lovely cool breeze through the back open area. Definitely worth a visit.

Unsuspecting but fabulous, hearty and decadent vegan pasta.

I was seriously impressed initially at there being a dedicated vegan menu at the type of pub where usually vegans settle for sides.

But the General Roberts has a decent vegan menu with multiple options.

The "traditional tagliatelle pasta, with pumpkin, broccolini and Napoli sauce was fantastic.

I definitely will be back to try other options if I can avoid not ordering the same again.

Great to see

Stayed here recently in July and highly recommend. Rooms are clean and shared bathroom is well maintained. Our room had king bed, a sink and no TV. Access is easy and it's only a 15 minute walk to McDonald Jones Stadium. I had left something in the room on check out and this was returned to me very quickly!
The bistro has some really yummy meals too. Staying again in August.

Absolutely disgraceful with what the bistro manager did to me and my family today.
We had a table booked for Mother's Day and I was given a high table which my elderly mother would not been able to sit in. When I made the booking I requested for a normal table. The manager was absolutely disgusting in his attitude towards me. Could not offer any other table told me "take it or leave it". I told him he was a poor manager and right in front of my kids he told me "I was a poor mother". My kids witnessed all of this. My mother has lived in New Lambton for over 40 years and this is how we were treated.
SHAME on you!!!!!!
Could someone from the General Roberts please contact me as this was very abusive behaviour and I'm still in shock!! ???

Update
Received a phone call back from Cale (Licensee Manager) wasn't the best response.
Because of my review and my social media post he had his back up. The conversation didn't end well.
He said if I would have come to him first he could have resolved the situation.
I do understand this but I did call the pub the day before and spoke with the bar manager.
I have every right to make a complaint and leave my feedback. I won't be shutting up!!!!
He was so awful said he spoke to 3 different staff and I'm the one who had my back up. No other staff were around it was in the middle of dinning area. I asked him if he could review the camera footage and he said he wouldn't have time to do this. I'm lost for words!!!!
Cale handled this poorly and could have changed it to positive but was only concerned about my social media!!

Last Saturday evening our family celebrated my husband's 70th birthday. Our ages ranged from 90 to 3 years. The General Roberts staff were so helpful and accommodating and the food choices were abundant and very yummy. The whole evening went very smoothly and stress free and a great time was had by all who attended. My sincere thanks to Cal my go to person, the chef and all the staff involved. Anne

No real atmosphere for our Sunday lunch. Food looked good and my schnitzel was nicely cooked and juicy. Unfortunately the chips were dry and the salad was a little old and very small. I would go back but not in a hurry

I recently had an event at the General Roberts and could not recommend the venue more! Organising the event with Cale was so easy from start to finish and he truly went above and beyond to make sure I was happy with everything, from the set up to the food etc. He was always so quick to respond to my questions and communication was so easy.
The venue space was amazing, so much room to set up everything needed. The food and kitchen staff were also great to deal with and also constantly checked in through the day to make sure everything was good.
I will definitely be returning to the General Roberts for more events, thanks to Cale and the staff!
