Dropped in for lunch this afternoon. Ordered a steak sandwich with an egg added. The meal came with chips. The sandwich was a good size! And delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly with bacon and ham...
Fantastic service, very friendly....enjoyable experience.

Having grown up in Newcastle and having spent most of my early adulthood here, it was great to see this unique building restored to be a beautiful pub. And the Guinness was excellent. Highly recommended.

Had lunch on Wednesday and was delicious. Chicken Caesar salad, pork belly bites, fish n chips, some pulled pork spring rolls were all PERFECT. I will certainly be back. Well done George on Darby.

Visited The George Darby for lunch with family. The venue looks great after renovations, but still feels like it's finding its character. The cheeseburger was overcooked and dry, while the schnitzel was moist and tasty??"though the salad portion was small for the price. Overall, we found the food expensive for what was offered.

Despite branding itself as a family-friendly pub, there was no baby change table in any bathroom, which made things tricky with our 1-year-old. The elevator to the bistro is right next to the pokies area, which smelled strongly of cigarettes??"not ideal for families.

Beer selection was solid, and I'd love to see more independent and local options featured. Staff were friendly, and service was good. With some improvements to amenities, pricing, and atmosphere, this venue could really shine.

Hubby & I decided to stop in for dinner and some drinks as the establishment has recently re-opened, the young bartenders were amazing. However, it was unfortunate to see the way some of the younger bartenders were being spoken to by other members of staff, considering the composure the aforementioned staff members kept during such a busy time. I think establishments like these, well situated - go to spots, need to treat their younger staff members with more respect

Ahh, where do I even begin? This place is a Newcastle nightlife staple and a rite of passage. As a seasoned veteran, I recently took a trip down memory lane. The security was decent, and the bar staff were lovely. Big fan of the return of shots - cheers to that! The 90s throwback tunes on the dance floor were a blast, and the DJ was always open to suggestions. Would I go back? I hope not - I am certainly not as young as I used to be. Great for a nostalgic visit, but it's best left as a fond memory 😀

I wish the DJ did more DJ rather than put one song on top of the other. It didn't flow let him try again pls

Love the security/staff out the front. I was complemented on my moko kauae (Maori women's face tattoo) and let in no problem, unlike King Street who denied me entry because of my tattoo. Also love the Airconditioning, must have in summer!!
