My band Drunken Ninja played there last night, and to say that he welcome we received from both the patrons and the owners and staff was excellent would be an under statement.. I can not recommend this hotel highly enough .. meals were so very good and generous as well as very reasonably priced .hopefully we will be back in the near future ..thoroughly enjoyed our stay.. ..Do yourself a favour and definitely drop into The Golden Age on your way through Omeo

We had a fantastic dinner here. The owners are lovely. My husband and I loved both our parmas. The children both finished their dinner, which happens.
The cheesy garlic Cobb was a winner.

I will recommend everyone to visit here.

Very sadly, with terrible new owners, this has gone from being a long-time fave to the worst hotel experience ever. The female owner shouted at us for leaving the room 10 minutes late, and then screamed down at us from the balcony that we had not left the key - when in fact she had misplaced it. I was left in tears and very sad about Omeo.

Fantastic food. Had the steak and mushroom pie with mash and greens. It's possibly the best pie I've had in many years, if not ever. Veggies were perfectly cooked, sliky, smooth mash. Delicious ?

No longer a drinking pub. Accommodation and meals are high country standards. Prices are very reasonable. LOTS OF PEOPLE are passing through. Omeo is fairly remote, being halfway between Melbourne City Centre and the eastern point of the state.

In reality it's a 2 star hotel but I loved staying here because it still has that 1940's look and feel. A lot of the fittings are old and worn but the place is clean, tidy and well maintained. The carpet and paint is in good condition. The staff are friendly and helpful. The beer is cold and the food is excellent. If you want a fancy, modern place to stay, look elsewhere. But if you like staying at places that hark back to earlier times, and are professionally managed, I can recommend staying here.
Great feel to this pub, friendly staff but the meals were very ordinary. Soggiest parmy we have ever experienced.

great place to stop for a cheap room , and GREAT PUB MEAL... can't beat this for an overnight trip to mount hotham ..
sensible place to spend the night..

shame about no more breakfasts. but the Bakery across the road opens at 6am .
45mins to Mt Hotham
Excellent gem of the Alpine region. Food is delicious and simple (I tried to include some photos...). Couldn't ask for a better find on the Great Alpine road.

Went Friday night for dinner and had the best Chicken Parma and Garlic bread we have had in such a long time. The lady owner was so friendly and great to talk to. The kids also enjoyed their nuggets and chips. Highly recommend!

Having stayed here dozens of times over the years we have always been happy with the value. Unfortunately now the value is not as good as it was. Your room no longer includes the cooked breakfast that was one of the attractions to stay here. Even the coffee and water station upstairs is no stocked with Milk and water. Staff were great just disappointed that what made this pub a great stay is no longer available.

Well it is a room above a pub. What would you expect? The double rooms are quite spacious however the walls are quite thin and you can hear everything. Located in Omeo it is central to everything in Omeo. The food however is actually something worth stopping by for. The vegetarian options that are not on the menu are good.

Grant and Donna have done a fantastic job as the new managers of this classic pub. Great food, friendly staff, fun atmosphere with clean and large rooms. This has become a staple pit stop on our motorcycle tours in the snowy's. Highly recommended '

i've stayed here so many times over the years and always loved it, quite a few management changes during that time. The rooms are either budget (shared facilities) or you can pay a bit extra for ensuite. Meals always good , my only negative would be the dropping of the buffet breakfast as it was the highlight of staying here but I understand it is hard to have everything. Would recommend and definitely motorcycle friendly .

Great country pub with all the country hospitality you would expect. Friendly Publican and great staff. Food was delicious and good size servings.

Have stopped here many times. Meals are great and bar staff friendly. If you require accommodation, be aware that a buffet breakfast is no longer available (our main reason for choosing this hotel).

Stayed here twice Best Accommodation in Omeo in my opinion, excellent breakfast, includes bacon, poached eggs, cereals, juices, toast & spreads. Very good ensuite accommodation, some with outside tables & chairs on porch's. Great place to stay if snow skiing at Dinner Plain or Hotham Heights, at much cheaper rates to on mountain. Can either catch bus to snow resorts or drive yourself, but must carry snow chains during winter, available for hire at local garage.

Nice looking pub.
Lady who checked me in was lovely.

Guy behind the bar was really rude.
I asked for a menu and he made me feel stupid, because for some reason I should know where they are.
As im ordering he was constantly distracted and rolling his eyes as if to hurry me up, when no one else was standing at the bar.
I asked if he had to be somewhere?
He replied that he needed to set table for other customers that might come in!
When I, a customer, and a guest of the hotel was standing right in front of him!
If I wasn't hungry and middle of nowhere I would have asked for a refund on my room.
* Meal delicious, well cooked and plenty.
Wait staff was lovely.
Just the guy with the white moustach and bald head needs the sack!!
He'd be much better at licking stamps than hospitality!

Did not stay here but went there for dinner. It was a very busy night during Easter and the dining room was full. The service was fantastic, the bar staff who also took the meal orders were great. The meals(12 people) basically came out together, were all hot and were very nice. The serves were large. A great country pub.

Clean and tidy room with a comfortable bed!
Dinners we had were delicious, steak, lamb and bangers and mash all beautifully tasty!
Treat yourselves to the cheese
bacon garlic bread too!
Were passing through Omeo for 2 days stay,& got a room without a booking. (Lucky me!!)Standard room was lovely & roomy. But there was a leaky shower head in the bathroom. Mentioned it to staff & when we got back from spending the day out. The lovely owner upgraded us to a bigger room. (Super nice!!) The meals we had were superb, prices very reasonable.
The staff & owners, very welcoming. Just the best customer service !! Highly recommend this pub & hotel to anyone choosing to visit Omeo!!

Regular visitor. Love our balcony room with views over the township. Staff so friendly & food fabulous.
This place an awesome, art deco building ,rooms are older but clean and comfortable. The staff and meals are both excellent and breakfast was included in the price of the room

One of the best stays I've ever had. All staff at the golden age are so accommodating and nice! Meals are beautiful, the fish and chips are so good! Our car broke down and we were stuck in Omeo for 3 days, we stayed 2 nights at the golden age and they were nice enough to give us the 3rd night for free! (Spa room) I will be staying again, it was the best and Omeo is so beautiful. Cant wait to he back there
