Unfortunately the food and service today was very poor. I ordered pumpkin/carrot soup and hubby, a steak sandwich. It took 40 minutes to arrive. The waitress put the plates on the table and said over her shoulder as she walked away," sorry for the wait". We just stared at her. The soup was to salty and the bread was burnt. No butter on the bread or on the plate. I tried eating the soup because I had to have something in my stomach as I was feeling unwell. I found the waitress and asked for butter. Her response "Oh yeah I forgot, my bad". By this stage I just wanted to leave. I was hoping the charcoal flavour of the bread wouldn't be so bad if I dunked it in the soup. Didn't work. I left the food and we left. It took to long to get our food in the first place so I wasn't waiting for a replacement meal. Hubby's steak sandwich didn't have a lot of flavour and the Turkish bread was dry. The chips were good. I don't think we will be going back. We can't afford to waste money on subpar food and service, even if it's a simple steak sandwich or soup.

Absolutely terrible. Food was bland. Waiting over and hour with asking where it was 3 times and being told it will be a couple of minutes away for a kid's spaghetti only got it once we had to stand at the kitchen and demand for it to be made on the spot! Chicken Parma was hit and miss between 6 ordered across the 2 tables some had sauce some didn't. Half the food was left on the plates as it wasn't worth eating. Plates would have tasted better!! Wouldn't waste my money here again

Have driven past here many many times over the last 15 years, so today we decided to have lunch here. The service was great. The food was sooo delicious and so was my drink ?? Will definitely be back for more lunches.

Had a lovely time at the YD, food and drink was awesome. Only sour point on the night was Megan, got kicked out of the establishment for not having card ID, despite having digital ID???? We were told digital ID was an appropriate form of identification by staff. Even so we were sent out into the arms of waiting cops to justify ourselves.
Not good something needs to be done watch out!

Went there for my birthday the 2 steaks my kids ordered were cold 1 could walk off the plate the other was overdone and they were supposed to be the same. My order came our wrong and had to be fixed and the salmon dish was pathetic so tiny not fit enough for a child. And the fact that we waited 50 minutes for our meal to come out was ridiculous still waiting for the gv to get back to me after ringing to complain a week ago will never go there again so so disappointed even though I'd been there 2 months prior and the food was great don't know what has happened if I could give no stars for food I would ??

Although I only had the roast of the day and a schooner for a quick lunch with friends, it was a wonderful way to spend an hour. The food was excellent, the service was the same and the atmosphere added to our enjoyment. These guys have set the bar quite high, well done to all the staff.

We had lunch here recently and found the staff were really nice and friendly. Was able to sit wherever we wanted and then just order at the bar.
We had the Roast of the Day (which was pork) with Roasted and Steamed Vegetables plus the Lamb Back Strap with Beetroot and Feta Salad, Pita Bread and Tzatziki.
The pork roast was tasty but we were surprised at the lack of steamed vegetables (in particular) as there was only one piece of broccoli and one bean! The lamb was a little overdone making it a bit tougher than expected so that was a bit disappointing that the extra care was not taken due to the $34.50 price tag.
All up would probably revisit this hotel (due to the staff) but would maybe choose different dishes next time.

Unbelievable!! The best meal I've had in Shepparton, 5 star.

Ordered the lamb cutlets with sweet potato's mash and broccolini. Almost didn't get this meal as they were out of chops but the very helpful waitress asked if they could substitute the chops for a rack of lamb.

I was probably happier with that choice more than the cutlets, well the picture says everything it was absolutely gorgeous in looks and taste.

The red wine jus was simply amazing and combined with the sweet potato purée the ketones married up perfectly.

My wife had the risotto balls with salad, also fantastic, reluctantly I shared half my meal with my wife ?I really wanted every spec on the plate.

Give it a try if you happen to be there and it's on the menu.

We stopped at this hotel for a quick dinner and we weren't disappointed. We were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome the moment we arrived. I ordered the Lemon pepper squid with chips and salad. The squid was cooked to perfection and the entire meal was seasoned just right. Will definitely return when we're back in town.

Arrived just after 2pm. Bought a drink. Went to order food. Waited several minutes to be served and was then told that the kitchen had just closed! Poor customer service. Won't be rushing back

Christmas lunch was delicious. Exeptional traditional fare, as well as prawns, beautifully cooked salmon, and salads were welcome modern additions. Very hard to top that! Santa came to our table and got a laugh out of everyone. All 10 of us had a great time.

Not the nicest of meals. Last time we went was nicer. Parma was dry and the flathead fillets were just frozen tails.

Such a landmark pub and interesting interior. Huge venue. Charges through the nose a little, but food is consistently quality and reasonably prompt and correct. Pokies are entirely separated and not audible or visible from the main venue. . Over all, feels like a true pub rather than a family venue, no play area for children. As a nightclub late hours it has appropriate security protocols for entry. Have recently improved the lighting and layout of their parking lot. I understand there is also a bus drop-off service at some times.. have not used this myself.

Place looks awesome inside, well laid out and beers were nice and cold, Don't order the squid, it was terrible like rubber

Our meal today was of a very high quality and I wish to also commend waiter, Dean, who couldn't have been more helpful, friendly and efficient.

Food was fast and great! Drinks however were almost non existent. Finished my meal before I received my drink from the bar that I ordered at the same time as my meal and no water brought or offered to table. Friendly staff however.

Last night I ate in at GV, I hadn't been here before & I ordered their vegan schnitzel, chips & a salad. I don't think the gravy is vegan but I never mind cause it's a guilty pleasure. Everything was cooked perfectly, the schnitzel didn't taste premade & the salad was fresh. Reminded me of the schnitz vegan option but MUCH better, if you're vegetarian I'd recommend going here!

I'll be back for this & more cocktails soon.

Staff worked under extreme pressure due to being short staffed, they attempted to please, even if the role was not normally something they were familiar with. Meal was tasty and came relatively quickly. Can recommend the barramundi and Asian vegetables.
Staff kept their humour throughout the evening. Well done and thank you for turning up to work when you know it's going to be tough and customers are going to be demanding. Please consider the efforts that Staff go to before you complain or review. Covid is trying on everyone.

Food was okay for price, nothing to rave about. Flathead in seafood basket wasn't flathead. No bar staff wearing masks, only staff wearing masks were chef/cooks. Wait staff had under their chins, chewing and popping gum while serving you. Out of alcohol for advertised specials. Stopping people on the way out "have you paid???". Just not a good experience.

Not to bad of a place staff that were on were grumpy .the only place I've ever been to that has so many stupid rules. You can't even use your ph here your ask to go out side .ill never ever return here .as for the food area my parmie was burnt on one side NO flavour & the only flavour it did have was burnt taste. Defiantly not I was return to or eat at again .very disappointed.

We have visited here twice now, both times for lunch. We sat in the courtyard and enjoyed really nice meals and service both times.

Stopped to have lunch in at the GV Hotel. Main eating area was spacious and bright but had old world charm. Staff all friendly and keek to ensure good dining experience. Food was delicious and quick to come to table. Great place to stop and unwind with friends whilst enjoying a great meal

The Food here was very nice. Decent amount of salad, chips & overall the food was amazing. The service even better. I would highly recommend those that would want a good meal, especially after a big day, to come here.
