My wife and myself decided we wanted to eat local for a night out after moving into the area within the last 12 months, we chose the Hagen Arms Hotel less than 8 mins away.
We had booked as it was a Friday night and I am aware it can get busy. We were greeted on entry by a busy barman and shown to our assigned table, very friendly approach and quickly arrange menu's and water and left us to choose other drinks, no pressure.
Very soon after we ordered wine and the starters a prawn bun and pork bun arrived pretty swiftly, delicious and served with a smile and chat. The mains arrived My wife had the Gnocchi and I had a beef strap, cooked excellent.
We both enjoy the fact that the meals seemed to be perfectly portioned and allowed us to enjoy a dessert, strange I know but too much food sometimes can overpower the senses :)
The staff were friendly without being intrusive and pleasant banter was had,
The whole atmosphere of the dining area was enjoyable, and a roaring fire was in the hearth creating a warm comfortable experience. The other patrons were relaxed and seemed to be enjoying the evening.
One incident made me smile, I needed the toilet and as I walked into the bar to find them, without asking the barman looked at me and said the back door and up the stairs
This was the first time eating here and it won't e the last, this could become our new local for en evening out. We couldn't stay long but next time may organise to spend a longer time and take some friends along.
