Ordered the Famous Hahndorf Inn Deluxe platter. Size would suit 3 people and was actually disappointing. Most of the food was tasteless and their famous pork knuckle was dry and the crackle was oily. Save your money and stick with the sausages and schnitzels.
Service was great and staff were friendly and accommodating with kids.

The place is full of history. Service really good German food. Traditional flavours were cooked to perfection. Taste was authentic and fresh. The ambience was cosy and warm. Service was excellent with attention to details.

Prices were slightly on the higher side. But it is worth it

Huge dining area with indoor and outdoor seatings. The beef ribs were good, not tender enough to fall of the bone but still tasted good. Calamari was soft and tender. Cooked very nicely. The platter could feed 3 hungry people nicely. Loads of meat. And quite salty. You'll be drinking lots of water after. Tap beer was refreshing too. Overall a great experience.

The sausage board was as expected, but the chicken wing was disappointing.

The environment was clean, pleasant, and lively. A good place to check out when coming to Adelaide Hill.

If you are looking for a place to get a good meat schnitzel and barbecue rib, I recommend Hahndorf inn. The beer paddle is also a great way to try a variety of local beers. However, the cheese kranski is not recommended, and the toilets are dirty.

When visiting Adelaide, I recommend a day trip to Hahndorf. This in is super tasty food and Booz wise. If visiting in the winter I highly recommend getting their gluhwein. It was perfect for a cold chilly day. All their German beers are excellent as well. Choose based on style or get their flight. Their food is also super tasty as well. Their food comes in large portion sizes. Their family options offer a little if everything. I highly recommend this restaurant

Very very enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere here !
The Hahndorf Inn is a historical pub on the Main Street and was established in 1863 - so the inside reflects this fact . Lots of exposed wooden beams , tables and chairs and the in the Winter have a working fireplace down the back . It was very inviting - the whole atmosphere encourages you to relax , unwind and settle in for the long haul .
The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to find substitutes for my friend who has a pepper allergy , and to recommend things for my gluten intolerance.
We started with some gluten free bread and dips - the beetroot one was the stand out with a lemony finish.
For meals my friend had the lamb shank with sweet potato chips , and I had the pork ribs with mashed potato and bourbon bbq sauce - the meat fell off the bone and the sauce should be bottled and sold , it was that good .
I also had a lovely cherry schnapps which was a good finish to the evening .
You could tell that the staff liked to work here as they were joking with each other and constantly smiling at the customers - and the care that was taken with food was very much appreciated.
I really recommend the Hahndorf Inn - it's a wonderful place to eat and enjoy your meals.

We had dinner at the Hahndorf Inn. We ordered the Wurst Platter (for 4) which can easily be shared between 3 people (probably not enough for 4 adults). It includes about 10 different types of sausages, 2 pretzels, potato and sauerkraut. The pretzels from the platter were nice and chewy. The sausages were delicious and sauerkraut authentic. The apple strudel was also delicious but we didn't really think much about the chocolate mousse. The atmosphere of the restaurant was great and made it feel very much like you are in Germany.

Pork knuckles are so crispy for the skins, and the meats are super tender, the fats are just like butter which is so soft and melts in your mouth!
Also recommend their platter, there's variety of meats which allows you to try different selections of meats, not to mention the pork rib is super tender and soft!
They have lots of selections for beers too.

Workers are friendly and service was excellent!

We arrived 1 hour before their closing time. We ordered their signature crispy pork knuckle and classic hot dog with chips. The portions were for 3 ppl.
The knuckle was more delicious than the one I had in Mel. It's crispy and juicy inside, and the hot dog was tender and not too salty.
As we couldn't finish it, so I asked for a take away box. It's so yum that I was willing to have it as my next meal.
Although it was quite late, customers were still coming in for a drinks and dancing with the music. The atmosphere was full of happiness.
I'd visit again when I am in Adelaide next time.

I was worried it was going to be a bit of a tourist trap (it is a popular / busy spot), and the high prices wouldn't be reflected in the food.

Really glad we gave it a try. The food was absolutely delicious.

The venue was busy, but there were available seats outside and in the bar. We found a quiet corner of the bar (which does not have table service like the restaurant).

The food arrived really quickly, huge portions. Atmosphere in the bar was great. We also tried a couple of beers, German and local.

Highly recommend for delicious German food. The Crispy Pork Knuckle is a must!

Fun vibe with a tasty menu at fair prices considering the "touristy" location.

Our waiter was very attentive and friendly - doing his best to accommodate challenging dietary restrictions (unfortunately most of the popular items aren't dairy free).

The banquet was split between 4 (the maximum recommended) which wasn't quite enough for the larger appetites in the group, so a bonus rack of ribs were ordered. The only disappointment was the pretzels which tasted a tad stale.

All up a very enjoyable experience.

I have always made it a point to visit whenever I'm in Adelaide but my most recent experience was a hit and miss. The fun and casual vibes are still present, but the food was somewhat lackluster. Missing was the bold and punchy flavours, and the impeccable execution (crackling was chewy and soft). Still a nice place to visit if you're after a bite when at Hahndorf.

We visited in early July. We shared the main dish among 3 adults.

The schnitzel was SO GOOD I wished I could have it all myself. Definitely 5?. And the sausages were very tasty, and the pork knuckle was perfectly cooked, juicy, very tender and tasty. Amazing!

The apple strudel certainly lived up to our expectations. Yummy!

Also 5? service from their lovely staffs with beautiful smiles.

Love to come back for the schnitzels, sausages, apple strudel, and more...

This restaurant is a must try if you were to visit Hahndorf village in Adelaide. They serve German cuisines.

Their Pork Knuckle were really good. Crispy skin and tender meat. All the dishes were still smoking hot when they were served.

The other dishes I order were good as well, I just can't remember the dishes names.

The lady taking our orders at the counter was really polite and thoughtful. As we have a toddler with us, we told the lady that we have brought some porridge to feed the toddler and if it's ok for us to do so. She said no problem at all, and even said that she can ask the kitchen to heat up the porridge if we find that our porridge has turned cold.

Great food, excellent services. Prices are reasonable too. Ambience is cosy.

This place is gorgeous. Authentically decorated and the meals look so substantial and smell amazing. There is a beautiful fireplace here and it's roaring in the winter. So good!!! The menu is quite large too. We didn't get a chance to eat a main meal as we were just there for afternoon tea but boy did we wish we did! Next time we will for sure!

Great place for German style cuisine with a group of friends or families. The signature Hahndorf Inn Deluxe Platter is good for people of 4 to have a taste of everything. Friendly staff and good atmosphere. Only downside is the place is pretty popular and "Have to Book a Table" on the weekend if you wish to dine in! I have been there couple times on the weekend and saw many people cannot get in as the place is fully booked out on many weekends.

We really enjoyed our meal here. The staff were really accommodating and found us a table straight away. They let us move tables when we asked with no fuss.
The food was really good we had a sharing platter and everything was cooked really well.
The beer was incredibly expensive when in comparison to the food, I understand that it is imported but 32 dollars for a jug is obscene.

Overall pretty good! Second time here, we ordered the beef schnitzel and chicken schnitzel, both were tender and delicious! The gravy was yum however the green peppercorn gravy was flavourful and tasty but way too spicy sadly ?
Otherwise the only issue I had was that the warm pretzel was barely warm and quite dense, not really enjoyable. This was disappointing as my first time here the pretzels were awesome!

Could not have picked a busier pub to come and have lunch at today, with a rather long line and many tables full the service was incredibly fast from ordering to having our meals within less than 20mins. Everyone in our party enjoyed the large meals that were on offer. If your in the area and looking for a German Pub it's worth the stop

The food and vibe of the place was good!
Firstly we ordered the pork knuckle. It was pretty good, but the crackling was more chewy than crispy. Some parts were on the dryer side, but it was fine with the side of gravy.
We also ordered the bratwurst sausages. These were delicious!
Lastly, we ordered a local beer paddle. This was a good way to try all the local beers from the region. They also offer a German beer paddle.

The only negative was that we found it extremely difficult to get the attention of a staff member to take our order. This could possibly be due to where we were seated (right at the back in the corner) or they may have been very busy.

Overall it was a very pleasant experience and we had a lot of fun!
