Visited the area on a fishing trip and had dinner here twice, was excellent both times, good honest pub meals, good service, good prices - definitely worth a stop

After driving for hours at night through the country roads of victoria, we found ourselves in need of warm food and cold beers, seeing the Camperdown sign gave us a feeling that we might find shelter and supper, we had no idea how lucky we were to stumble into this town. The Hampden Hotel is a standout destination the beautiful building made it stand out over any other establishment in the town, inside there was an exceptional atmosphere with outstanding service, friendliness and speed are the keywords for the hospitality of The Hampden Hotel. As soon as you walk in, the welcoming vibe and stylish décor set the stage for a memorable visit. The staff is attentive and caring, ensuring that every guest feels welcomed.

The highlight of the Hampden Hotel is undoubtedly the food. The menu features a wide range of dishes, we ordered the 400g Rib-Eye Steak and the Steak Sandwich. Cooked to perfection the steak came with a generous portion of chips, salad and garlic butter, just like we order, the chips were fresh and crispy with the perfect amount of salt, the salad felt so fresh I felt guilty to eat it. the true star for me was the Steak Sandwitch, a culinary masterpiece, big, saucy, cheesy, filling, everything about just scream perfection, the scale of this sandwich was truly a first sight for me in an australian kitchen, I have zero doubts that this phenomenon could easily go head to head in several sandwich competitions at an international level. worthy of the most prestigious awards. The food was so good, I had to take a picture of my licked plate!

Only went for lunch, not expecting much and was pleasantly surprised by the quality, presentation and freshness of all the food, even fresh oven roasted veggies, not frozen.
Our three dishes were all perfect and beautifully presented. The risotto with duck comfit was the best ever, well done steak was def burnt at the edge did detract a bit and the pork cutlet was generous with the oven roasted fresh vegetables.
Desserts were also were the same top quality.
I would happily go back and eat there again.
