We had a bit of a faulty towers experience here?.

Compact but clean and modern rooms with electric blankets and aircon. Cosy.

Checking out the dinner menu we were told "no sirloin steak, no chicken" which ruled out everything on the main meals except battered fish.

No worries, we had a nice steak sandwich.

After finishing and much to our surprise we saw several locals being served T-bone steak and chips. We must have failed to ask for the secret menu. We did feel a little second class and somewhat unwelcome at that point.

With poor phone reception we tried our luck with the wifi. "No, sorry, people tell other people the password". A second attempt got "it interferes with the EFTPOS". Really? Perhaps a separate guest wifi with changing password and bandwidth restriction, like 99.9% of hotels, would fix these excuses?

Anyway a good stay which would have been made better only with Basil himself in attendance.

Rooms are Ok and stuff member are super friendly; however, there is no Wifi available in the rooms. And obviously the reception for the mobile service is terribly poor, which is not their fault anyway.
Also, there was no cupboard, no wardrobe or anything of that sort in the room.
On the bright side, the view is amazing. There are two chairs and a table to put outdoor if you want to and have a cup of tea or coffee.
I really wish they could add a thing or two and make it a perfect stay.

The only reason to come here is because it's here. The location is fantastic - magnificent views on clear days and a good halfway point on Jenolan Caves Rd. But the food, amenities, and service are very subpar. The driveway and carpark is gravel which is unstable for bikes, wheelchairs and walking. The food takes forever to come out, and is average to poor quality with little variety and no freshness. Bizarrely, a lot of the doors are always shut and it's hard to navigate the building if you don't know where you're going (and God forbid you ask for assistance). After a couple years of this place being our standard break point on Blue Mountains day trips, we've had enough of it. For the above reasons and the fact that nothing has changed to fix them in years, we won't be back and don't recommend this place. You're better off stopping in Oberon.

Sometimes we wonder why we bother coming here, maybe there's enough time between visits that we forget.
Ordered the parmigiana, get told they have no ham but offer bacon instead, of course we say yes.

Get the food and none of them have bacon. We ask the kitchen and they say "of course not" and they said what do you want us to do about it - rude!

So we ask can they put the bacon on like we paid for, they said they'll put it on the to and not remake the parmigiana that already cost a fortune.

Get the food back, "here you go", chips and chicken are cold, cheese has gone hard and the whole time we get death stares from the kitchen.

Eat before you get here, because honestly what a waste.

Stayed here last night on short notice and the service from the 2 staff upstairs at the bar and bistro was fantastic.

Rooms are small and simple but comfortable. Aircon works well and everything has been renovated recently.

The pub is as classic as they come, and you can feel 150+ years of history in the walls.

Second time in recent years we have had a pleasant morning here after massive hill climbs found while cycling from Lithgow.

The older lady on Sunday morning, 2nd March 2024 was terribly efficient and witty while serving us.

Rooms are small, but clean and it's enough for a quick stopover for a recharge on a long drive, the bathroom needs a ventilation fan as it gets fogged up badly and makes everything wet.

Live music is at the venue but they finish before midnight but they do have great singers and good taste in music so it's all good

View when not foggy is amazing .

Food is a little on the expensive side and if you are picky with how ur steak is cooked (medium rare, medium ) just be warned it will come to you well done no matter what you order / ask for.

"cute but unpleasant due to hilariously bad building design"

The good:
* Great views from the room with massive size shared deck, though we didn't really exploit this with 1 night stay.
* Cheapest place around
* Romantic ambience - lovely stars by night
* Peaceful
* Rooms have reverse cycle A/C

The bad:
* Cute but unpleasant rooms - see for details
* Restaurant food is underwhelming - see for details

Popped in for lunch today with our dogs in the lovely beer garden. Lovely setting with super views. Food was well priced and tasty and the staff were friendly and helpful. Will be back for sure.

Lovely setting and views. Unfortunately the whole pub seems a little over renovated and has more of a winery feel than cosy historic pub. Charming modern vibe but lacking in old school charm.

We stayed 3 nights.
Room extremely small, no hooks in bathroom or bedroom. Towels damp from night before, no carpet or mats in room so hard & cold. Bedding not high quality, blankets were fraying at edges. Bed squeaked, moved thru out the night, terrible lighting outside on balcony, no lighting in front of room, hazardous. However view lovely but wouldn't recommend to stay here.

Such a cosy hotel with wonderful staff and great views. Food was the only disappointing part. Ordered a steak, chips and salad and the steak was a bit overcooked. Visited on a Saturday afternoon which was very quiet and not many patrons.

My steak was overcooked ( I ordered medium) but hubby's was perfect. Getting timely service was like pulling teeth. Great view.

Decent stay with amazing views.

One such good places to stay at in the area. People were so welcoming and understands customers needs.

Definitely recommend this place especially during winters to wake up to some snow or frosty valley views.

It is a quaint, country style pub with basic accommodation.i appreciated their kitchen being open at 7:30pm as there was nowhere else close by to eat. Their Parma was enjoyable after a long drive. It is surrounded with picturesque views of the stunning hillside. It was nice sharing the back porch with other guests and getting to chat to them, however some privacy would have been nice too. Staff are very welcoming and sociable.

All their rooms need new beds, yes I could hear the neighbours beds. There is a lot of building supplies left laying around which makes it quite a hazard when walking around the venue. There was no daily room cleaning services including emptying of rubbish bins and this adds up when you're there for more than a few days.

If you're on the way to Jenolan Caves or mushroom picking in the Hampton Forest or just strolling through the forest this spot is pretty much the only place you can stop, you can sit at the front with pets and there's a deck area or the back with beautiful views across the valley where you can enjoy a drink or two. We always like to stop here whenever we pass by. It's currently always in a state of renovation but it's improving each time we visit and can't wait to see the final dream realised. Never stayed here but there are rooms at the back. They say open most days but we've been disappointed after travelling out there to find that they were not open when they advertised they were so maybe check first if they're open, also lately Jenolan Caves hasn't been open much either so probably makes things difficult for everyone. It's a nice spot though and we enjoy spending some time here every time we are in the area, having a drink ? and enjoying the view.

After a previous visit, I always wanted to organise a group ride for a return visit. We were greeted with polite and helpful staff and got chatting with other patrons, fellow riders from Bathurst. The beer was icy-cold, great atmosphere and a great view from various vantages in and around the hotel. Only downside was the menu offering very basic 'pub food'. The chips were under-cooked and my fish was heavily battered. The salad was the hit of my meal. Apart from that, an enjoyable stop on a long day's ride.

Worst tasting food. Stopped on our drive through town. Nice looking restaurant lovely balcony but the food was quite horrible.
Better to just eat cereal

Nice spot, with great views from the rooms and deck. Decent food. Rooms are small, but tastefully done and recently renovated. Needs a few small touches like hooks for towels in bathroom, flyscreen on bathroom window etc, but these are easily sorted.

Middle of nowhere! But you will not be kept thirsty! Basic pub and cafe food. Good for a quick pit stop.

We got a tiny room with a double bunk bed and a queen bed. Room was clean and had basic amenities. It was a rainy night, we saw quite a lot of flying insects even inside the room. Had to use bug repellent.

Lovely view. Friendly staff. Basic pub food. Chef unwilling to make requested change to a burger. Shame, as it would have made all the difference to the eating experience and this review.

We booked a stay here because we wanted a break. I'm going to be as impartial in this review as possible.
So when you get here, you're going to have to work out where reception is, and it's at the pub. You'll sign in and grab your keys here if you're staying a night or two. The staff there were helpful. Parking is a bit of a hit and miss as the other patrons will park however they want as there are no markings and that might mean you'll miss out on a parking spot. The rooms are not bad, clean, but very small. My wife complained about a mould smell coming from the room, but the rooms are refurbished. We had a quad which meant there was a double bed and a bunk bed so I guess it felt smaller. No microwave, no toaster or any other heated kitchen appliance except a kettle. A fridge had some long life milk in it. The kettle was dirty and had not been cleaned. The air con was good.
It was very noisy till late hours, and that kept us up. The room we were in, had an outdoor area but it had no fence and there was a large drop down. So be careful if you have kids.
The meals i cannot comment on but from other reviews i read, I don't think it's great. Given there is nothing close by though, the restaurant might be your best bet. It's still a long way from civilisation so I'd suggest eating well before you get here.

Beautiful views, but food is quite simple for the price ($20 for a burger on a flat roll with chips) and staff are not very attentive to taking orders or wiping tables on a quiet Saturday lunch. I'd come back for the view and a drink, but the menu and staff needs some improvement.

Travelled through Hampton on a Tuesday a couple weeks ago and stopped by the Hampton Halfway Hotel Motel. My husband and I had a Parmi and a Scotch Fillet, the food was generous portions and tasted amazing. The 2 young gentleman running the pub that night were very welcoming and well mannered. Overall it was a great experience. I will definitely be coming back!!!

Stopped briefly for a coffee. The vibe was very rude. Many signs telling you what you can't do. We had some food that we had picked up elsewhere locally and sat at the tables outside to have with the coffee, only to be yelled at rudely by who I think is the owner that "YOU CANT EAT TAKEAWAY FOOD HERE" from 50 meters away. Less than welcoming... food inside was uninspiring. Don't bother...

I wish I read the reviews before I came here. Views are beautiful but that's about where the positives stop.
The schnitzel was huge, but average. And the vegetables were very bland, tasted like frozen veg that had been microwaved. Over priced. Menu didn't offer many options for people with dietary requirements. The coffees tasted ok, but the foam was weirdly like a bubble bath. The menus are so basic printed on A4 paper. Everything inside is just a bit drab. We were excited to stop in as we have been seeing some renos happening lately and had high hopes but I would not recommend it. Admire the view from your car and keep on driving.
Why doesn't management read all these reviews and do something about it? Just some small tweaks and this could be a very special place.

Great location. Great views. Shared balconies. Clean and compact rooms. Modern amenities. No wardrobes or shelves. Soft and creaky bed. No doormats. No night light. Plenty of plug points. No exhaust fan in the toilet. Toilet window opens to the corridor and carpark. Not the friendliest of staff. A little expensive. But there's no competition.

Its great and has a great bar! It's also close to the caves and has a graet view. The only problem is its freezing here.

Good place for the views.

Staff can be a bit cold like the weather out here in winter. Food isn't exactly something to write home about.

But a good place on the whole.

Very welcoming and friendly staff, from the moment we arrived to when we left. They accommodated our room change without fuss. We stayed in Room 4 - highly recommended! The photos don't do this hotel justice.
Fantastic meals, served hot and fresh, excellent portion size.
Breathtaking views from our room and the restaurant.

We have decided to stay spontaneously at this place as we were driving by and noticed the sign. And I am glad we did! The room was great - modern and clean with breathtaking views. Food was great - we had dinner and breakfast. Staff was accommodating and friendly. Great place!
