This is how good old fashioned hospitality should be. The local baker recommended us to this lovely pub, which ended up being amazing. The staff were fantastic and very friendly, Sarah kept an eye on us as we sat outside by the amazing pit fire and our two fur babies. The manager/duty mgr gave my husband a beanie, he looked cold and probably felt sorry for him lol. It's a hotel with a relaxed atmosphere and a setting that's conducive to striking up a conversation with locals and travellers alike, both of which we did. Living on King Island we can be a bit fussy with meat but my husband and the most delicious and perfectly cooked local rump. We started off with made fresh prawn toast - homemade, was so good & I had a chicken red curry that was the best. Don't know how we found room after the well portioned size meals but it just sounded way too good, so we shared a dessert. I've attached a photo of what it was, a perfect winter delight. Congratulations to the chefs and staff for making sure that we recommend your business in Harrietville for a memorable meal.

EDIT: Changing review to 5* they followed up, found the pillows, shipped the to us free of charge, many thanks!
---------------
We left our pillows, emailed and tried to call, no one responded to help us locate our linen and pay for shipping to retrieve them

I appreciate we made a mistake but would have appreciated a response or the slightest support :(

We ate at their restaurant on the Friday night. The food is the best we have had in a country town for over 10 years. I would definitely recommend eating there even if you are not staying in their accommodation. Wagyu steak sandwich was sublime. The fish and chips were incredible. The chips are the best we've both had in years. 5 stars

Ordered Cajun Chicken wings as an entree and the steak special. Steak came out as soon as the wings were finished, the steak was cooked perfectly medium rare, which isn't common these days. The duck fat potatoes were crispy and full of flavour, and the steak and seasoned greens had amazing flavour! Fast and friendly service, 10/10!

We visited over the weekend and Tony and staff were really friendly and helpful. Great food, warm fire and table football..... A perfect spot to stop off on winters day.

Went on a cold Sunday afternoon and had the best roast I have ever had with an equally delicious red wine. Was so lovely, two beautiful fires and such lovely welcoming staff 10/10.

Such a shame I have been coming to this pub since I was a kid for over 20 years. I've witnessed the sharpest decline in service and quality since the new owners have taken over.
Where to even start, garlic bread ordered as an entree and didn't come out for 30 minutes with our mains in a seemingly quiet dining room. Garlic bread was also dry and burnt, and "cheesy" (an extra $3) was almost non existent.
Cheeseburger was dry, small and the brioche bun was burnt. For a small request to add salad instead of the chips would have been a $13 extra charge...
Parma was small as compared to regular serving size and was also burnt on the edges and dry, tasting bland and unpleasant, not the "Victoria's best Parma" we were used to and keep coming back for. I mean $30 for a burnt cheeseburger... come on.

Such a shame to see the service and quality decline so quickly.
I will not return nor recommend this pub, rather the one further down the road seems to be where it's at.

Food taste great, place always have good vibes too.

Had their special today
kimchi fried rice with sticky pork belly, tasted great and everything was cooked very well but portion was just too small. Mentioned it to the staff and she rolled her eye at me ?

Such a shame - new owners are running a classic old pub into the ground.

The meals here were some of the worst we've had in years. The schnitzel was deep fried, overcooked, poor quality chicken, and just generally disgusting. No side salad, either. The pork belly curry was far too rich.. deep fried pork was again over cooked, and tasted like cardboard.

These owners have never owned a pub before, and it shows. I heard they also bought another local favorite, the Wandi pub. Let's hope they done ruin that, too.

Best roast dinner I have ever had (sorry mum). Rob's roast lamb was tender, super tasty, and surrounded by a range of vegetables each uniquely flavoured and done to perfection. Wish I lived closer as it would be my absolute essential Sunday outing. Thanks team. So fab!!

What an amazing staff and location they have. We have found them to be very accommodating, customer focused and pleasant to deal with. The restaurant and pub has great atmosphere delectable food.
I particularly want to give a bug shout out to the manager Mark. You are a gem very accommodating and caring for all his guests.

A nice pub with friendly staff.
It's not in the centre of town, so it's quieter and more enjoyable.
I only had chips, but the other meals seemed quite large and reasonably priced.

A very delicious meal from a chef who has an eye for detail. Worth visiting to if you are anywhere along the Great Alpine Road.

Also has a nice selection of beers on tap and stubbies/tinnies.

The pub is full of character and has a welcoming air plus great meals (on nights when the kitchen is open). Unfortunately, the accommodation doesn't match the same standard and is pretty basic (3 star is a bit optimistic). Our room was cold when we arrived and didn't improve much even with the heater which was pretty ineffective and which switched itself off after a while. This was October - and Harrietville still gets cold overnight - we can't imagine it in mid winter! Wifi was poor. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the location was excellent.

Excellent food. Ordered the Wagu burger, fish and chips and Guinness pie; all three were amazing, really tasty. The service great. Atmosphere is beautiful, we sat outside and there were stunning views. It's worth the drive, highly recommended.

Prefect and cosy little country pub! The staff and the locals went out of their way to make our dining party feel like we were part of their tight knit community, not once but twice.
Everyone was so friendly! Ended up staying till 10.30pm on a Tuesday night chatting to them all.
Will definitely be back again!

Average service.

Told they sturggled to put through and order because they didn't want the kitchen to get mad after adding an allergy/asking for no salad.

Piece of plastic in the pasta dish and was sent back.

Bought out 3 meals incorrect

Was not told to wait for drink at the bar when ordering my meal and my drink was left unattended on the bar for 10 minutes until we noticed.

Arrived and table was not ready and was asked what time our booking was.

Overall not brilliant and over priced for what it is.

Food was nice but not worth returning.

Sensational steaks and service, really nice atmosphere with two fire ??"? places. Huge selection of drinks and ample seating in and out side. Well worth a stop at this iconic pub.

As always another amazing dining experience at the Snowline. The service is so wonderful, but it's truly the delicious food that keeps us coming back. We feel so lucky to be able to have such a delicious dining experience, that gives any big city eatery a run for their money, in our backyard. The produce they use and love that is so evident in each dish always makes for the perfect night out!

We had our 16 year anniversary at the Snowline Hotel, Harrietville and we're greeted the second we walked in. What a welcome! We enjoyed the atmosphere, the food was faultless and the service was amazing. Seated by the fire place and a candle lit at our table for us. Thank you for a memorable anniversary!! Special mention to the bar staff esp the full dark bearded gentleman. We've been going there for years and will certainly continue for future years. Thank you Snowline!!

Great old pub ambience with open fires but the food was disgusting.
The Wagu burger was a mush with over salted chips and the gnocci was so overcooked it was inedible.
Stick to beer and you won't go wrong.
The pub down the road may not have the fires but in comparison the food is great. More choices and carefully prepared and presented.

The hotel menu wasn't big but what they did have on the menu was done well. Floating firepit on the deck was great for the evenings. There was table tennis to keep the kids busy.
For the rooms, if they pulled up the dirty stained carpet and replaced it with floating boards and regrouted the bathrooms it would look much better. Beds were comfy.

We stopped in here after riding from Bright. As hubby doesn't eat wheat, he ended up ordering a roasted carrot salad and a broccoli/cauliflower dish. Absolutely blown away with the flavours. I had the chicken parma, which was good. They served us a big jug of iced water (much appreciated), as well as accommodating my coffee, which was not on the (web-based) menu. It was a little hot on the deck but we found a nice cool spot under the trees.

Fantastic location, food and beer. Staff are lovely. We stayed for 9 nights and had fantastic weather. Accommodation had everything we needed as a base for walking and exploring the beautiful region. Shower water pressure must be direct from mountains - very strong and refreshing! Highly highly recommend.
