NOT EVEN WORTH 1 RATING.SORRY TO SAY. What a disappointing experience. I don't normally review restaurants or bars but the experience here was to an extremely low level both customer service and quality of food not to mention the additional charges for a Sunday and processing fees for QR coding your order which means minimal customer service. Our meals took 1hr and 40 mins to arrive from ordering ordered at 7.10pm and received at 8.50. No mention that it would be such a wait for our meals cause obviously we would have taken a different option. The meals were average not worth $80 for the shared platters. No empathy whatsoever from the staff or owners for the pathetic customer service when told that we were disappointed about the time it took for our meals the response was " Do you want me to get you the rest of your food " over $250 spent for 4 people at the establishment wouldn't even waste my time giving it 1 star.

My sister and pop into the pub for a drink, loved the hospitality of staff and locals that we booked in for the following night and was not disappointed. Absolutely fantastic.

Room was average size with a huge bed with crisp clean sheets. Lovely small balcony. Bathroom was tiny... nearly needed to sit sideways on the toilet (I'm a small size 12). However my biggest disappointment was the service. The carpets were washed downstairs and the entrance was blocked off most of the day so I was stuck outside. I waited and waited then rang and left a message with the owner to see if there was another way in but no reply. Eventually the need for the bathroom and food forced me to go through the barrier.

Went there for a friend's birthday dinner in a group of 14, and was thoroughly disappointed by poor service and LONG wait times. We waited 25 minutes to be seated despite booking a table two weeks in advance.
Our food was so late that some guests didn't even get to eat their meals!! Some meals arrived 30 minutes after ordering, others 60-70 minutes after ordering, with us reminding the staff repeatedly of our waiting meals while other tables were served before us (and seated after us). The last two gave up and asked for a refund, they magically received their food also as we left.
No apologies from the wait staff, just told "too easy" at our repeated requests for the food that was ordered an hour ago to come to our table please.
Eventually some staff member did apologise when organising the refund for the missed meals, I appreciate that at least.

Had a great family dinner here tonight. Such awesome wait staff who were friendly and well mannered. Food was delicious and did not disappoint! Thank you Hotel high plains, we will definitely be back!

Came here 2 nights in a row with kids, and the service was lovely and the food was great. Beef Ragu pasta was delicious, and the pork ribs. Kids loved their meals too, will definitely be back :)

Ordered a range of foods, burgers, pizza and pasta. All had major complaints. Pizza had a dry base with no flavour, burgers were dry and mealy, pasta tasted like tin sauce with a hint of pasta. Service staff tried to help however when pasta was sent back for being inedible we were told to order and pay for a new meal if we wanted another, original pasta was taken away from our table. Used to come for many years and raved about the place however now with out a doubt would choose the dinner plain hotel instead

Had great times here in the past, but unfortunately this time it was a little different. I am not leaving this negative review in spite, rather so that whoever needs to see this to take action - actually sees it.

I took about 14 friends to dinner over this past weekend, over the dinner plain hotel due to my positive experiences at hotel high plains in the past. The staff were extremely friendly to us but the food was an absolute let down. My friends ordered the pizza, which came out extremely salty and soggy. It was like the toppings of the pizza were left to soak into the dough for way to long before the pizza was cooked. The base was effectively goop - to the point where everyone who ordered pizza was trying to give it away. Those people went home hungry.

For the location and price, it left me a tad confused. Skiing, and that area in general isn't exactly cheap. It's something you plan months ahead and save up for. There is certainly an expectation when you go up to the snow, that with the price of goods and services, comes a certain quality. It felt like we were being ripped off. Definitely not the start to a weekend at the snow that we all had in mind.

I am genuinely sorry for the negative review, but something needs to be fixed here. The venue has amazing potential.

The accommodation is top-notch, and StonesThrow Restaurant and Bar is nothing short of exceptional. Their menu boasts a wide array of delicious food options such us; wood fired oven pizzas, burgers, smoked meats, along with an impressive selection of cocktails, beer, wine, shots, and coffee. It's a family-friendly and pet-friendly establishment. And if you're in the mood for a lively post-dinner affair, this is the ultimate destination.

Overpriced and shocking food. The bar service was good but the kitchen staff a different story. We waited 1.5 hours for our meals with the kids meals coming out LAST. Not to mention they forgot a dish. 2 soggy springs rolls for $16, kids lasagne was tasteless with undercooked fries, grilled chicken was dry and 4 tiny pieces for $20!! The kids dinosaur nuggets which come from the packet were the best meal... says something. Thankfully we were refunded but very disappointed.

Unfortunately, the standard of this hotel is not 3 stars hotel. For the price of almost $200 per night, we got filthy room! There was dust on the shelves and dead insects & flies in the room, bathroom as well as in the hall.
There was a used bath towel in the bathroom, which was probably left by previously guest.
No service, no fresh towels, no spare toilet paper - i stayed there for a a few days!
The communal kitchen was dirty
Even toilet seat didn't want to stay up ?
Food in the hotel's restaurant wasn't tasty, oily pizza.
Service was also not very much welcoming.
Sad...it could be such a great place

On the bright side: good heating system, nice view from the room, cozy fireplace & pub , good selections of beers, great location.

The first night the pizzas were great, an interesting variety available and the service was ok. The second night we dined, the service was poor, had to find our own cutlery, then debate how many ribs were supposed to be with the meal. The menu clearly said 3, however when queried, the 'chef's' reply was 2, showed the waitress the menu and a third rib arrived sometime later. The caramel tart was half warm and half cold and not particularly inviting... As one of the few guests that were dining on the second evening, we thought the service should have been better as staff were not run off their feet.

Amazing pizzas!! Staff were friendly. It's not a budget eat or drink though, but suppose it is to be expected given it's a captive market.

Great staff, great location and a lovely getaway from city life.
Food menu is fantastic, and I certainly worked up an appetite from exceeding my daily steps count around the scenic alpine area!
Thanks to the team for a lovely stay - Can't wait to get back for our wedding reception next year!

I'm no hotel guest here, but I can assure you that the 'STONESTHROW RESTAURANT' they have there is amazing!! Pizza was freshly cooked in the wood fire oven and it was really good. 5 stars. Well done. P.s we ordered 4 different kinds of pizza and they all did not disappoint.

The food, service, and staff were all excellent. We had a private function at Hotel High Plains, and I can't speak highly enough of the venue or the staff. Thank you for a fantastic and memorable evening!

This is a fabulous pub. Ran on a skeleton staff last season, strugging as all the hospo venues did post-covid. But continued to pump out quality food. Amazing effort. We will always give this lovely place our business. Keep up the good work, guys. You're the beating heart of the DP village ❤️

Located in Dinner plain in a central location. Not many food options and not many veggies or salads at all. Steak was fabulous but I didn't realize that it didn't come with side dishes...so end up having to order some fries after but only arrived after I finished my steak. Good service though.

Lunch of two burgers and kids meal was very good. Burgers were well presented, hot, ingredients worked well together and reasonable portion sizes for price. Chips were a highlight, very crisp. Staff were polite, drink selection was reasonable for the location, and overall very happy.

Went for dinner with a group of 6. Quick service and the Gluten free pizza was actually great! Would definitely go again. Only thing I'd say is the fire could be cranked up a bit as you could feel the cold coming through the windows.

Went out for a birthday celebration and as we hadn't booked, had to vacate by seven.
Ordered through the QR code and paid using PayPal.
Meals appeared spasmodically taking a full forty minutes to get a burger which was cool!
Other meals were mainly pizzas which were quick.
Staff obviously new needing and getting experience.
Good variety in menus

We ordered 4 Sandwiches (Rocky Balboa x2, Ferdinand x2) for lunch at about 12 noon on a Saturday.
After 40 minutes 4 sad looking hamburgers come out and we spent a few minutes figuring out if we got someone else's order.

Another couple we were talking with waited 30 minutes for a small serve of chips. The place was empty other than us, these people and 4 people inside.

We took the burgers back to ask if our orders were mixed up and were told; that was our order but they had run out of the bread rolls so they used burger buns.

The attitude here was poor already as the lady was short with us and made not attempt to fix the situation. Or even offer an apology for the lack of notice that what we were ordering wasn't actually available.

The burgers we got were on toasted buns and tasted like bread with sauce. The ONE slice of brisket barely covered 1/2 the bun and was dry. Worse, they were miles removed from the image AND the description of the actual meal we ordered, but still $25 each.

A member of our party asked for a refund only to be told it can't be done and instead he would need to come back later that night when the manager was there. (Which is not how Consumer Laws work in Australia but banging your head against a brick wall only hurts you) When the member pointed out that they can not refuse to refund the meal when it is clearly not what is advertised, staff asked him to leave.

The ordering system asked for a tip AS we ordered.
Staff made no attempt to notify patrons that menu items were unavailable.
Staff were frustrated and not helpful.
Wait time was absurd.
Price was too high.
Quality was too low.

All of this could be avoided by telling people you do not have the menu items, rather than tricking people and getting upset when they aren't impressed.

If I could leave a 0 star review I would. Absolutely the worst customer experience I have ever had. The staff were rude and the service, well I don't think you could actually call it service. We waited 50 minutes for our food, after having to go in twice and ask. The place was empty so not sure what the hold up was. Another couple who we were talking to had been waiting 40 minutes for a bowl of chips! When our food finally arrived, they got our order wrong and argued with us when we asked them to fix it. In the end we just left, having paid for our food and not even eating half of it.

Keep walking, there are far better places to dine in Dinner Plain than here. It was the most polarising customer service experience I've ever had and I will share my experience with others. Such a disappointment ?

Amazing value for money. Hideaway is the cleanest and most comfortable accommodation we have experienced in a long while. We will be sure to visit again!

The service was amazing. Bunny (Lily) is easily the best bar tender on the mountain. Always service with a smile.

Unfortunately we found the room quite dirty.
Floors not vacuumed, tables and surfaces not wiped, hairs and mold in the shower. There was a pungent smell at the top of the stairs from the room signed as 'kitchen' with universal key access. This room was actually a health hazard!!! No wonder the smell permeated the hall.
The restaurant wasn't great either. Meals were very small and costly. Glasses were dirty, even the waitress was embarrassed and then something terribly wrong with our drink we needed to send back as tasted like chemical.
On check out there was no body to be found - anywhere. We had to just leave our key in the room and leave due to not being able to find any staff.
I hate saying this about a business but in all honesty I would avoid at all cost. We got up early and left. Very disappointing and quite unsettling how dirty the place is.

We went for for dinner - a group of 5. This was the just after Easter and Anzac Day long weekends and it had be extremely busy in the area. The staff were delightful - very friendly and willing to help. There was a bit of a wait for our meals but that's fine, we had lots of time and the beer and wine was great and plentiful. A great evening. We will be back.

The rooms were not at all cleaned. We arrived at the hotel around 7 and soon after we entered the rooms, there were pieces of paper on the floor and a load of dust and the carpets looked as if they weren't cleaned since they first opened. There were cobwebs on the bed and something that I assumed to be chocolate cookie crumbs on the table. The bins in the room were not cleaned and there were leftover garbage in them. The washrooms were a nightmare with un-flushed toilets! Since the table and the floor were the first things we noticed, we wiped the table with antibacterial wipes and decided to ignore the floor as we were only staying the night and had plans to leave early the next day. But as soon as we saw the toilet, we spoke to one of the staff, and the first thing he asked was whether we wanted to leave! All the places were fully booked and it was too late to find a place at that time (which I'm pretty sure he knew). And then he asked what we would like him to do! And then we said we needed all the rooms properly cleaned, vacuumed and sheets changed, he arranged one of the staff to come clean the rooms. That's $550 and the start of the Easter holiday wasted
