Had a really good meal at Hotel Nicholas. The beef massaman and rice and the Nepalese chicken curry were delicious. Hotel Nicholas has some good beers and wines. The beef massaman was really nice and spicy but not hot and the same can be said for the Nepalese chicken curry.. the wine was really nice also. We received excellent service from the wait staff who did their job with an absolute minimum of fuss.

Excellent service as was the food, a good sized serving. Also we were a party of 4 and our friend had not tried the pale ale, so was advised to try it first before ordering to see if he liked it. Great service! We will be back with our visitors from interstate. Thank you!

We had a beautiful meal here tonight. The staff were lovely, the food came out so quickly, and it was all absolutely delicious. We ordered both the Nepalese and Massaman curries. Both were perfect! And the steamed vegetables were cooked perfectly too. Great portions sizes. Overall very nice experience

What a lovely hotel! With outdoor seating we could enjoy a meal at the hotel with our little dog. The outdoor seating does get the afternoon sun but the staff were great and seated us in a little outdoor area around the side which was lovely with a nice breeze to keep us cool on a hot evening.
The food was fabulous and staff were friendly and helpful. 10/10 !!!!! We'll be back :)

We had the most delicious lunch here today. Fantastic pasta dish and a scrumptious beef burger. Lovely staff, icy cold beer and yummy food all make for a great afternoon. The pub is also very interesting to look around, lots of historic information and great memorabilia..

Generous meal portions and a great range of GF options! It took a while for meals to come out but it was worth the wait. I'd revisit next time I was in town.

Attractive restaurant with fireplace for cold nights, cosy and pleasant ambience. Good food and good, friendly service. There are many historic and iteresting photographs on walls. There is a small stage area for occasional musicians.

Just had dinner here on a quiet night. Friendly staff, nice food and Guinness on tap. Loved the historic photos on the walls and the timeline and information about the rich history of the area.

If I could leave a NO STAR review, I would. Have been here many, many times before, however tonight will be the last time.
Waited over an hour for our food only to watch people who arrived AFTER us receive their meals before we did. Steaks were ordered as medium and medium rare, we both received over cooked steaks full of fat and gristle.
Kids fish and chips were fresh (fresh from cardboard box straight from the supermarket).
I have absolutely no intention of returning here.
To make matters much worse, the owner (Ross) was quite possibly the rudest person I've ever met.
Ross, I highly suggest you learn some manners and learn to accept feedback from your customers.
Our waitress kindly offered us refunds on our steaks, but Ross reneged on this. We were very polite when explaining the issue to Ross but he created a scene, was impolite, and swore at us in front of my two young children.

The meals were phenomenal! The meals were massive and very tasty! Staff were very friendly and welcoming

The atmosphere here is lovely, the fireplace was so nice to sit next to, good selection of drinks on tap and the service was excellent. The staff went above and beyond to get my girlfriend her mulled cider (which she said was delicious). Heaps of cool memorabilia around the pub, overall an excellent place to get out of the cold and have a beer

Such a great, cosy little pub!! Loved the fireplace and all the effort that's gone into the decor. Service was amazing, I ordered the mulled wine but it wasn't quite warm yet so she ran around and heated it for me so I could have some, and it was the best I've ever tried!! Such sweet service and a good range of drinks

We popped in for lunch with a baby. The young fella behind the bar wasn't sure about much but he very quickly checked with another "young" lady who had us sat in front of the open fire with a high chair in no time flat! The food was bloody good!
The atmosphere was welcoming and we got to check out all the historic photos in the dining room.
A must to stop at!!

Really nice lunch reasonable prices take away available bar meals good atmosphere friendly staff . A few quirky things skeleton in floor . Glass enclosure Brewery you can see. Our door seating sporting memorabilia meals dinning area . Clean presentable definitely visit again.

We had lunch in the beer garden and the food was some of the best pub food we have experienced. My Nepalese chicken curry was simply delicious, the meals for the rest of my family were first class.
The beer garden is a delight and the interior decor of the pub is worth a visit just to see. It was one of the best pub lunch experiences l have had for awhile. I highly recommend this pub.

Great seafood basket. An amazing array of historic and interesting photos and news articles and other memorabilia on the walls. Very friendly and helpful staff What's more they pour a good pint of Guinness! Winners

Waiting 75 minutes for our meals . One meal for a child didn't even come with the rest and they forgot about it . We were told to wait another 10 mins (it was only an entree meal too mind you)
The waitress said it was because they were busy.. yet there was only 3 tables being occupied in the pub and another 11 vacant . Poor excuse. Especially when clearly it was NOT busy.
Do not waste your time coming here . Especially don't order the overpriced Fisherman's basket. The fish was just 1 tiny portion from a frozen meal packet, which was mostly dough and slither of fish.

This is not the first time I have made the mistake of coming here . The last time was the same . Waiting long time for food and meals forgotton.

Food was really good, parmi was abit to thick, other then this food was good and we all finsh our serve.
Gave 4 and not 5 just cos my son got his food first and we wait 20 min more before we got ours. That it's big down for us in food service.

It's like stepping back several decades once inside. We ordered the parmigiana and chicken schnitzel. They are thick and a little tough to slice through, but nonetheless nice. The side salad had a beautiful dressing. Chips thick n' crispy.

After being told we couldn't eat at another bistro as the staff couldn't keep up with the demand of 3 tables. We found Hotel Nicholas, we were immediately greeted by a friendly staff member who showed us straight to a table. We ordered and our entrees (Cheesy Garlic Bread & Spring Rolls) were quick to come out and were a great start. Our mains were also quick to come out also (Chicken Kiev, Chicken Schnitzel & a Chicken Burger) all were fantastic sizes and tasted great. Would come back here first before going anywhere else in Beechworth.

We came in early (without a booking) for a family dinner on a busy Saturday night during the football finals. Fireplace was roaring which was great. Food is solid pub fare and restaurant staff were friendly and hard working.

Dining room was cosy on a cold Winter's night. Staff were friendly and helpful. We had steak which was very enjoyable. Mulled wine was good.

A really lovely, historic hotel in the main street of Beechworth. The hotel has been beautifully refurbished in heritage colours both inside and out and has lots of original black and white historical photos adorning the walls. The bistro has a good menu too and the bar service is excellent. There is no accommodation which is unfortunate as there were previously two very spacious rooms each with their own bathroom.

My family took me here for Mother's Day lunch, and it was lovely! We all had something different and all meals were delicious and they had a great wine selection as well. To top it off, the staff were all friendly and efficient! Very highly recommended place to eat in Beechworth.

We came to The Nicholas on a Friday night at 8pm having left another local pub due to not receiving our meals. Our experience couldn't be more different! Very friendly staff, nice atmosphere, and we received our meals in 10 minutes! Delicious Asian fare as well as traditional pub grub. Lovely, efficient staff who care about your experience. Immediately booked a table for the next night.

The Thai food on the menu is outstanding and super delicious. My two boys shared a tasty chicken parmigiana and my husband really enjoyed his steak. We ordered the dumplings to share and the Thai prawn curry (amazing!). Historic hotel with an outdoor area suitable for kids; we would highly recommend this venue, particularly the Thai food.

A fantastic country pub!!! Excellent food and the loveliest staff. Everyone was welcoming, attentive and super efficient. Great atmosphere on the street at the outdoor tables and the restaurant is very charming. Pool table in the main bar was loads of fun. Highly recommend a visit to Hotel Nicholas!
