Huon Hill - Pub in Wodonga Victoria

Met friends for dinner and staff were friendly, helpful and mains were LARGE.
I had the pork belly and it was well presented, tasty and a decent portion for the price.

Nice spot for to catch-up at, I hear the do trivia aswell which I'll have to come back for

I had the pleasure of visiting Huon Hill tuesday night and was thoroughly impressed. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with soft lighting and a great selection of music. I ordered the French martini which was absolutely delicious. The bartender, a friendly Argentinian with curly hair, was more than happy to recommend some local beers. He even went out of his way to bring my drinks to the table, even though it was self-serve. The service was exceptional, and I will definitely be returning

So I excitedly took out-of-town family (whom I hadn't seen for quite some time) to what used to be my favourite, classy restaurant. What a disappointment it turned out to be. I had made a reservation and when we arrived and approached the reception desk, I was told to go and walk through the restaurant and find my table. Table service is gone. Now you line up at the reception desk and stand in line to order your meal. They've turned this classy establishment, which is linked to the nicest accommodation venue in town, into a pub or sports crazed environment which is now also super noisy. They replaced the comfortable lounge area and turned it into a brightly lit kids play area. Naturally, there were young kids running around; and even tradies still in their dirty work uniforms. It's clear you're now dining at a low grade pub that's contained within this classy looking environment that's more suited for fine dining. Next to our table, was a large group of people standing and chatting loudly (over our shoulders) instead of being seated at their tables. Talk about tone deaf! One of the nicest restaurants in town just downgraded to nothing more than a noisy pub with rather unexciting food options on the menu. I will never dine here again and I will never recommend this establishment to anyone, anymore. The new owners have absolutely trashed this place. Furthermore, I genuinely feel sorry for the staff that remained after the change of ownership; as they didn't look happy at all. Maybe they feel lucky to still be employed, but embarrassed for what this establishment has turned into.

What a shame. This place was our local, a place we would go for great service and a well above average food menu, it was exciting, fresh and not your average pub menu.

I'm saddened to see its gone backwards. No table service, line up to order, the food is now your basic pub menu "parmi and chips" "steak and chips" etc. Although staff are very friendly and the addition of a seniors menu was a good idea...I'm just not stoked.

If I'm going to pay those prices for a burger or steak, I'm going elsewhere.

However, still a nice place to grab a drink.

We loved our lunch here, the food was delicious and so fresh, the meals were also a great size. We had the fish and chips and a Parma and we were able to share our portions with two small kids! Someone else also ordered a small pizza on our table and it was able to feed herself and her six year old with leftovers.
The wait staff were all so kind, friendly and polite and had our table of 8 adults + 2 high chairs ready to go. The high chairs were also really clean and ready to use which was a nice change from other places we have dined.
We will defiantly be back again as the atmosphere, food and people were all amazing. Such a comfy place to enjoy a Sunday lunch! Thanks again!
