We called 45 mins after they opened (6:45pm) and they refused a booking for our table of 7 who was ready to come straight away. Not because they were too busy, because they weren't busy enough.....

We had to take our money elsewhere. Such a shame as we liked the look of the menu and are staying at the quest hotel it's adjoined to.

We dined here per a recommendation from a friend that the menu was significantly different from before and worth checking out.

That is true. It has a varied menu that should suit most diners, with a reasonable pricing range. The food itself tasted good to very good, the drinks were decent (again, pleasant tasting and not skimping on the alcohol) - so back of house gets 5/5.

Front of house was disappointing - on entry there was no acknowledgement from wait staff despite making eye contact multiple times and standing at the please wait to be seated sign. I don't demand a smile, but a "welcome, someone will be with you shortly" isn't too much to ask for is it? We were seated (the one who did this did express a greeting and had a welcoming demeanour), but the second staff member who took the order was not familiar with drinks on the menu (claimed one item was not in stock but later there were many bottles in the fridge at the bar, didn't know one of the cocktails and had to have it pointed out on the menu before looking for it on their tablet) and could not advise how often the specials menu changes (in fact, stated it may change after several months, another member was more certain it would change every few weeks and did acknowledge this was up to what was available to be ordered).

I would likely still recommend this place specifically for the food and drinks.

Unpleasant experience, booked for 24 people for dinner after spending the day saying goodbye to a loved one. We were seated and there was 3 more people then booked for, one staff member allowed us to move an extra two seat table over to be able to seat everyone. Another staff member then came over and moved the table and asked the people seated to move, half of the group had to move into the bar area and we were unable to enjoy a meal all together. To be noted that there were multiple tables empty and remained empty the entire time we were there. Staff were rude and unapproachable, one of the members of the group were cut off and when we questioned them they were very unpleasant and rude. This was a tough day overall and having an unpleasant experience to end the day definitely ruined it for myself due to their unwillingness and clear attitude toward our whole group.

I would like to add, I rarely leave google reviews however this experience was horrible and needed to be noted!

Overall experience at Huon Hill was awful and we will not be returning. After our family had attended our Grandad's funeral we booked for 24 at the restaurant but when we turned up with 3 additional people they were not willing to accommodate this so we then had some of our group sitting in the bar. It is important to note there then proceeded to be at least 5 vacant tables the entire time we dined.
The food was over priced and the menu was hard to read, the staff were rude both behind the bar and when they took our orders.
Anyone that attended with us will not be going back to Huon Hill anytime soon.

Overall experience was terrible. My family booked for 24 people and had 27 people come, with these additional 3 people the staff were not willing to accommodate and took the additional table away from us, and rudely I will add. There was not accommodation for the fact we had come from our Grandad's funeral.
The staff then proceeded to talk about our group behind the bar all night.
When the staff came to take our orders they were abrupt and rude.
The menu is expensive and hard to read.
I would not recommend anyone to attend this restaurant.

Wonderful venue and atmosphere. Large menu, but for a picky eater like me, it was hard to choose. The chicken was succulent and flavoursome. Accompanied by a large variety of vegetables.

Overall experience was not pleasant. Despite the food being good, the atmosphere was not. The bistro manager was rude and interrupted our family dinner sitting to warn us about loud noise on 3 occasions. I could not believe the way we were spoken to for sharing a laugh over dinner. If you laugh louder than you speak go elsewhere.

We had a table of 7. Most of us ordered the special which was the wayghu steak which was chewy and fatty. I know why it was on special now. Also, the operating hours are until 10pm but we were asked to leave at 9pm. Not the 1st time either. We will not be eating there again

Menu is $$$ and the wait staff are awful..

Just what we wanted for a quiet anniversary dinner. The dining area was modern & large - but surprisingly not loud & noisy given the fact that there were several large groups dining. The service was fast & the beautiful staff member that served us was not only friendly - she was extremely helpful with wine & menu selections. We don't often venture out for meals, basically because of cost & general dissatisfaction with the quality of the meals presented. Not so with Huon Hill! Absolutely amazing cuisine prepared by a very talented chef. We enjoyed every morsel of our meal & the wines were perfection. By byThank you Huon Hill for making our evening so very special.

Booked a large table last minute and it was very welcomed! The menu had a fair bit of variety and the food was pretty delicious. Slightly on the more pricey side of things if you are on a budget. The venue itself was large and a nice chill atmosphere.

Food was pretty good but the cocktail we had was devoid of any flavour. The service was meh....I felt like everything asked of the staff was an effort.

Great food and unpretentious friendly service. Orders came out fast and were delicious. The staff are brilliant and friendly.

Food was good with a reasonable range, service was excellent. The staff were helpful and friendly, without being intrusive. Steaks were cooked as requested and overall very happy.

Booked for 7pm, arrived waiting for another person to arrive. My wife & I had 2 drinks each and an entrée, at 7:30 one of the wait staff on behalf of the manager come over & said that if we don't order our mains within the next 10 minutes then we will have to leave. At time of booking we were not told of seating time but at the end of the night they were still happy to take our $300. Will never be back.

The meals were average however, the customer service was disgusting. I was spoken to poorly by one waitress who served us there almost the entire night in which ruined all 3 of our experience. Would have rathered getting take out for the $120 i spent there. If you're thinking about going to Huon hill restaurant, don't waste your time or money.

Food was average at best... did not live up to the hype at all on the menu. The wait staff acted like they would rather be anywhere else. So many better options in town I am sure. My husband and I both agree that it's been a long time since we have had such a poor dining experience (including lockdown) yuck...

Was not made to feel welcome. Had booking for 1.15pm. Arrived on-time but couldn't finish meals before 2.00pm close. We were denied coffee or tea, despite there being a machine at the bar. Only had main meals consisting of mainly cold to warm potato.

My partner and I had a lovely dinner here. Food was great, manager Karlie and our server Sophie went went out of their way to make sure we were looked after! Highly recommended ??'?

Meals where lovely but the service was appalling, you have to order on your own table as the meals come out all together. If you have a big group and need to separate over many tables. The kids ate last. The wait person was very rude when asked about ordering for my son on an other table. Don't get served by Sophie she has a bad customer service

Had dinner here with our friend's from Melbourne, latest menu is amazing, food was great, steaks cooked to perfection, dessert to die for, service great, ambience lovely, think a few glitches with staff have been ironed out, definitely a must at the moment.

Lovely meal, excellent service, great atmosphere. Great bar to have drinks prior to the meal. Thoroughly recommend Huon Hill.

Food was super average! So disappointing!! We got the linguine and it just tasted like plane spaghetti from the store, couldn't taste any sauce on it what so ever. It got passed around the table and we all through it was terrible. Was rather expensive for an average pub/hotel too. Only two out of 4 of us at the table actually ate their meals, and the others left hungry. The bar closed at 8.45 on the Friday night (????). The staff however we're super nice and friendly and the waiter we had was so lovely. However, we definitely won't be returning, was a very pricey disappointment.

We love this place. The food is always amazing. However tonight was very disappointing when we made a booking for 7.30pm and told at 8.30pm that was it as the kitchen closes at 9pm. We were then told we could order but if wanted a drink we would have to knock it back in 15mins. The venue also states it is open until10pm. Please advise patrons on booking if they only have an hr to dine. ?

My partner and I got the Angus scotch fillet and it was one of the best steaks we have ever had along with the coleslaw and roast potatoes. The staff were excellent and I'm sure they were smiling behind their masks. We will definitely return.
