Hotel Illawong

A very busy Tuesday night. A little confusion with our meal over an adjacent table, meaning 2 of our 3 meals came out well before the 3rd so the unlucky 3rd person had to eat fast as the others had long finished. Saved by the chef here: the meals were decent if not spectacular, so the chefs gets 2 of the 3 stars in this review.

We love this hotel. Great food. Great variety of ice cold beer. Friendly staff, lots of staff, cannot do enough for you. Very busy and popular place. There was a band playing in the beer garden. Very relaxing. Love sitting at the bar Window tables watching the people go by. Stayed upstairs for the night. Excellent manager let us lock our motorbikes out the back. 2nd stay for me. We'll be back on another road trip.

Good spot didn't stay as was in the caravan park nearby but we went to this pub everyday.. kids on the pool table, me on the pints can't beat it, food was pretty good also, highly recommended, but not when we are in town, coz kids like the pool table so needs to be empty, anyway it's not free so bear that in mind.

We stumbled upon this very average looking Venue from the Outside, but we were not disappointed!
Excellent food (we had the "Ham & Pineapple" Pizza, made with fresh pineapple not tinned & beautiful Ham; the Daily Special "pot Pie" which was chicken today, and was sensational (it was a curry chicken) & last but not least I had the mussels which were Awesome (generous size & beautiful leek & white wine sauce).
I only managed a picture at the end ! I highly recommend the trip to Evan's Head, it is a very picturesque place, I would imagine packed in summer!
We cane on a doom & Gloom winter day & still absolutely enjoyed it. Friendly & efficient Staff, great food, highly recommend it.

Meals hit and miss, depends on what day you order and what you order. Pizza's well below average, lacking in flavour and ingredients and very expensive for what you get. Minimalist service at best. And here we are on Saturday night 500+ meters away listening to excessively loud music and having to strain to hear our own tv. Loudest we have heard in years.
Now lying in bed with top level ear plugs and still hearing excessively loud music.
Been coming here for 6 years and never experienced such disregard for others.

We stayed one night in an ensuite room. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and comfortable with a balcony. It is only basically furnished but does have a bar fridge in it. Location is fabulous - within an easy walk to the beach, river and all shops. Staff were all friendly and helpful and the stay was great value for money. Ate at the bistro and food and service were great.

I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel. For a budget hotel, the room was absolutely fine, a bit old but terrific value. The bathrooms and showers were spacious. The staff were friendly and helped me store my baby honda goldwing out back which was appreciated. The food at the restaurant was excellent and the location of the establishment is second to none.

We come to Evans Head every year ' the last few times we have been here we have had lunch at the Hotel Illawong. I am pretty hard to please but we can't go past the Southern Fried Chicken Burger, it is the best burger & chips we have had ever. We live on the Gold Coast & with all the surf clubs etc you would think we could find somewhere that could compete but sadly no. We have even driven down here just for lunch. We love it! Sorry no photos.

A great pub - had a quick lunch on Oz Day weekend. Used QR code ordering and although it was busy our food wasn't too long.
Salt & Pepper Squid was fantastic! Recommend! 😀🏻

We had a great experience recently eating here. We ordered via the QR code and our food was served very quickly. Great variety of options on the kids menu. The pizza and garlic bread was delicious all the food looked good. The pizza is a proper wood fired pizza which was so nice. I love that there are photos of all the meals via the QR code link on the menu. The staff were also really nice and helpful.
